The best Japanese resto in the neighborhood! Get’s packed by locals at 6-9pm. One of the few sushi places here run by Japanese staff and has donburi bowls not available in most places (Katsudon, Veggie-Don, Oyako-don). The price reflects the food quality and service. Faves are:Obama Roll: just order it! High quality sashimi, perfect sushi rice and addictive crunch!Salmon Kama: generous serving, crispy skin and tender meatKatsu-Don and Veggie-Don: bowls of comfort! Love the generous toppings and yummy dashi flavoring the rice. I can almost give up meat with the Veggie Don.Takoyaki: really good tooKid-friendliness: Family atmosphere with couples eating with toddlers and babies. High chair available

I did like this place. The interior has a cool, almost grungy feel to it which I loved. I will say the fish wasn’t as fresh as other sushi restaurants I have been to in New York and although the sushi was well made there were some dishes that felt like they had been rushed. The edamame for example tasted soft, microwaved. However, the price was so reasonable that I could forgive some of small criticisms. The whole experience was really enjoyable and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Geido is simply a treasure. The atmosphere is incredibly homey and non-pretentious. I love the graffiti walls. The sushi melts in your mouth. Highly highly recommend and will always come here when I’m in the

Lovely place to have a date or a small group outing or to eat out with kids, very friendly atmosphere with generous portions and quality for a fair price point.Order the plum wine! Usually it is too sweet for me but this one was perfectly mild and paired well with everything we ordered.

My favorite restaurant! The food is always fresh. The best sushi hands down. Some of my family's favorites are the gyōza, spicy tofu soup, chicken katsu curry and the super dragon roll.

Waited about 15 minutes on a Saturday night. Got the chicken udon soup with mushrooms, chicken katsu curry and sushi. Udon soup broth flavor in particular was excellent! Everything else was great too.

Bustling neighborhood sushi spot. Geido is part of the great cluster of sushi and Japanese spots in Prospect Heights and North Slope. We walked here for dinner after catching a basketball tournament at the Barclays Center. We arrived during peak dining time on a Friday but were able to land the last two seats in the restaurant at the sushi bar counter. The atmosphere is more casual than some of the other sushi spots nearby; coupling that with the close proximity of tables and seating gives the restaurant a cozy feel. I started with some hot tea to warm up. We also shared a miso soup with salmon. The tea and soup together hit the spot! I was toasty in no time and ready for a Sapporo on draft. We also shared the stuffed shishito tempura. I haven't seen that elsewhere. It was simple yet creative. We both liked it and I'd recommend giving it a shot if it's available. For the main course, we shared the sushi platter for two. Nice variety of sushi featuring two pieces of 9 different types of seafood. There were cuts you wouldn't find at a typical neighborhood spot, but nothing I'd expect at an exclusive omakase counter. The variety offers a balanced middle tier at an extremely reasonable priced. The pacing of the food was good and the service was attentive. There were two single occupancy gendered restrooms.

Everything about our GEIDŌ visit was amazing. The yaki udon was one of the best noodle dishes we've ever had — such great flavor throughout! — and our sushi/sashimi combo and specialty roll (dragon) were excellent as well. Service was fabulous and we even got some complimentary tea while we waited for our food (it wasn't even a long wait, just incredibly kind servers). Highly recommend!

A great adorable local spot to get your classic Japanese necessities whether it's sushi or a chicken katsu Don. I like their food a lot. They have good specials (especially the stuffed shishitos). It's usually very kid heavy on the earlier side so I try to go after 6:30-7. The vibe inside is a little grungy but in a good way. Service is always very friendly and nice. I never feel rushed out. It's a great neighborhood spot.

Moved into the neighborhood few months ago and we're looking for a regular sushi spot. Geido's window display looked cool/ like it was a good restaurant so we went for the first time 2 weeks ago and I went again last week because I liked it so much. Its been opened since 1985 !!! The restaurant is a homey joint with graffiti on the walls, people go here for their weekday dinners and patrons have been coming for years ( our landlord for the last 15 years)! The sake prices are reasonable. The rolls are fire . I eat a lot of sushi and have been scarred by a lot of cheap sushi places.Geidos rolls are reasonably priced, service is quick and attentive and food is fresh and delicious. Our favorite rolls are the amazonas ( so many crunchies you will be super full) and the spicy scallop. Standard rolls that are pretty fire are - eel and avo, spicy tuna, and shrimp tempura. Try their California roll which has tobiko in it which was BOMB !!!!
