Yum! This place is out of this world! The French shop is mini size. There are 2 tables and couple of chairs outside on the sidewalk. There will be a line when entering, and when someone opens the door, the butter aroma hits you in the nostril. The service is fast and friendly. I got the chocolate eclair, Madeline, Canelé and cheese sandwich. The sweets are really well made with perfect texture and sweetness. I will definitely try their croissants next time, they got 2nd place so it must be good. Their cheese sandwich is fancy; only seen on Food Network. I heat it up when I got home and liquid cheese spilled out. The crust on the top is like baked Mac and cheese.

Here's the short and sweet: Skip it if you're looking for superb laminated pastry. Get it if you want something better than a typical cafe pastry to pair with your coffee, and are willing to pay for something pretty and overpriced. Ordered a custard tart, almond croissant, and a croissant cinnamon roll. What I was expecting: buttery, flaky, and well executed pastry, especially for the price. What we got: dry-ish, not buttery or flaky, and a little bland. Custard tart? Maybe get it. The custard tart was the best one, it had layers of filo dough (not croissant) and was well baked with a nice crunch. The custard was not too sweet but unfortunately not flavorful despite supposedly having orange in it. The custard really weighs down the shell. The almond croissant? Skip it. Missing that nice crunch and layers of almond, this was a little chewy, like it had been sitting out for a while and absorbing too much moisture. It lacked an almond flavor. Skip it. The cinnamon roll croissant? Don't get it. Dry and not buttery. It was surprisingly not well laminated or balanced, and was a little too sweet with crystals of pearl sugar on top (I did like the crunch they added, though!) It advertised being filled with cinnamon cream - it was not. Bland and a very light cinnamon flavor. Skip it, and get the monkey bread at winner if they have it instead. Seemed like it was old almost.

Decent bakery. It’s not great, but it’s close by which makes it worthwhile for me. The bread and pastries are decent. The sandwiches are very tasty and pretty large. The salesperson at the time of our visit was super nice and friendly.Unfortunately there is a sign that blatantly lies about a 3.99% fee. It’s label “customer service fee” but does not go to the staff - it’s a credit card fee. Really misleading. I guess I should expect that from a chain, but it’s still disappointing.

Cute bakery in the UES. There's a decent amount of seating in the back and the whole cafe has this charming French style. They even sell some French grocery products as well. It was easy to find seating on a Sunday afternoon. Pistachio Twist ($8) - Definitely on the pricy side, but it's big enough to share between two people. The neon green dye threw me off and felt very unnecessary. It's stuffed with pistachio cream that's light and fluffy. The pastry itself tastes super buttery, but I do wish more of the pistachio flavor came through. My friends got coffee, but the cups were leaking from the bottom rather quickly. Their ham/cheese croissant sandwiches looked good as well.

Great French bakery. Croissants are enormous, one can be easily shared for 2 people. Beautiful tarts. Mastery in presentation and execution.

Wonderful. I love their traditional items and also their - perhaps this is the wrong word - esoteric offerings, like a square croissant. Go for anything pistachio filled; you will not be disappointed.

After living in Paris for a month, we went on a mission to find a real baguette and a real croissant here in NYC. Et voila… Julien has both. Award-winning bread. Authentic Paris.

Stopped by here for a quick breakfast bite! The strawberry tart was amazing!!! So flaky, and chewy, the strawberries were very fresh and the mascarpone cheese was delicious delightful little treat! Highly recommend!!!

Stopped in on a Tuesday at around 9. We got this ham and cheese bread and it was still warm. It was so good - probably because of all the butter in there. Since the boulangerie was close by to our hotel, we came a few times. We tried their baguette (also very good). We were those tourists just chomping on a whole baguette while walking down the street. You definitely need to finish it on the first day though because it gets very chewy the next day. We also tried one of the premade sandwiches, which was meh. The quiche was not good. It was dry so I would stay away from that one. Overall, we liked this spot and most of the things we ordered. It was better than a lot of other boulangeries we tried, and the prices were good.

I ordered a tart and multiple pastries online for pickup and sadly half of my order was not available. No one called me to tell me. The pistachio roll was green and I wasn't sure but it ended up being incredible. The mixed fruit tart was also fresh and great.

Great baked goods and service.I called to reserve a baguette once when I was walking from a half hour away, and they did so, no problem. The baguette is fantastic, too - has a great crunch to it, none of this soft crust baguette silliness. They also have well-priced baguette sandwiches, such as a mozzarella caprese like sandwich for $10 and a turkey brie for $14.

the bakery is small and cute with a variety of options. i was disappointed because the pastries weren’t fresh. the chocolate was hardened and the croissants were pretty stiff. wish they had an option to toast it, or maybe i missed it but it wasn’t offered.
