“Basic diner food. Not much vegan options. I can cobble together things. I got the veggie wrap minus cheese and linguini w marinara as a side. You can't get pasta with marinara without meatballs, but oddly enough you can get a side. Not amazing but ok. I took half home.“

The cocktails, food and service were as good or better than my meals in NYC and a great value for fine dining in the Capital District. “We decided to try Albany Ale and Oyster House on a chilly, rainy Wednesday afternoon since we had to be on New Scotland Avenue for an afternoon doctor appointment. I'm so glad we did, and also happy we arrived just as they were opening because we were able to sit at the bar and visit with one of the owners, Mia. We tried a flight of beer opting for all pilsners, one each from Italy France, Czechia and from our own New York region; all tasty, just the right amount of foam and nice and chilled. I ordered the Beyond brat which comes with comes with kale slaw and honey mustard, crispy potato chips in a brown paper bag for soaking up the oil and keeping them crispy, and a mixed green salad with the best sesame honey dressing. I love good salads and this one was perfect, with dressing on each lettuce leaf. Mia said they take their salads seriously, and you can tell. My partner had the Reuben and he proclaimed it the best he ever had. Overall the taste, presentation and preparation of the food was perfect. Combined with the cozy atmosphere and the friendliness of the owner and all who work there; Albany Ale and Oyster House is now one of my top favorites in the areaVegetarian options: In addition to the Beyond Brat they offer Beyond Burger and some interesting salads.“

“A southern brunch that was so good. 4 of us went to celebrate a birthday and we all enjoyed it immensely. I had the Dad and it was absolutely delicious. We loved the fried green tomatoes, and the tater tots. I had a bourbon bacon bloody Mary that was out of this world. “A small hall in the wall with quality comfort food cooked by a family. This has been family owned and operated for years. Their food is delicious. “We have brunch at the city beer hall, pretty much every week. I am famous for having the same meal every time. The steak and eggs. The steak is always cooked perfectly medium rare. The eggs are sunny side up and delicious. Home fries and a side salad round out the perfect breakfast. My partner also always orders the same meal. Fried chicken with macaroni and cheese. When we go for dinner If you are a French onion soup fan I have a huge suggestion. The French onion soup is what I call a "destination dish " It is a delicious change from the norm. The service is always fast and friendly. The staff is knowledgeable. We have been customers here since the first week and will continue to be. The bar area, the dining room with its communal tables, the patio in the summer time. This has been our go to place for the past 13 years. Keep up the great work, the food, the hospitality, the overall experience is what a beer hall should be.“

I was very impressed by the shishito peppers, general tso’s chicken bites, french dip and the espresso martini. The apps were perfectly battered, crispy and flavorful. The French dip just hit so right- tender meat, savory au jus, warm, perfectly toasted bread. The fries were perfect- exactly what you’d imagine if you are craving fries! And the highlight of our entire night was our bartender Halsey. Her genuine care in curating our experience cannot be matched. She made great suggestions, interjected with playful humor, read when our group wanted time to chat amongst ourselves, and made a PHENOMENAL cocktail. I mean, the most serious espresso martini anyone could hope for without the overstated hipster flair. 10/10. Would go back just for her. Watching her interact with her other bar guests was also a treat- it’s easy to see how she can command the room & keeps a mighty fine bar! Will certainly be back!“

“Stopped in for lunch. I am from outta state and wasn't expecting much, they blew me away the service was so wonderful very friendly and very good at there job. The prices are amazing (especially considering it's in NY where everything is overpriced) They have a huge menu with all the normal comfort foods but also have some things that's unique. I actually ordered Meatloaf Parm not only had I never tried it before but had never heard of it before. It was amazing and you get huge portions with a soup or salad . I recommend this place100%“

My only thing is that it was really warm in the bathroom like uncomfortably so, but it wasn’t that big a deal, just something I remember noticing. Live music is fire ? Perfectly fine..nothing outstanding but nothing bad either. Prices are also average- portions are on par with it. Full bar, variety of beers, service is always very pleasant and timely. Place is a little "tired" looking- but always clean!! Can be loud at peak times...hard for anyone with hearing issues.“

“I've been going there for years. Is the food a Michelin Star quality? Nope. But it's good for what it is. The turkey is top-notch. The staff are lovely. The views sitting outside are the best. Remember this is a restaurant that services a golf club and its food should be compared to country club food (notoriously bad by the way at most clubs) they do a very good job compared to their peers.“

“Normally the food is 5 star excellent; however, this last visit wasn't. It took a long time to get our entrees and the fries were over cooked in the warmer. Plus, my shrimp was cooked on a dirty griddle, all I could taste was burnt ground beef. Might have just been an off night or they lost some good cook staff. Not sure what's up. We will give them another shot because we dig the menu and food. Trivia night is awesome and fun and the wait staff is great. They made sure our drinks were filled and that we were happy. Turkey Club, very good French Fries, and diet Coke or Pepsi. If I'm ever in the area I definitely would eat here again. Still family run, which I like, very much.“
