“We love Nangma, we come here all the time. Their dishes are really flavorful, we keep coming back for more! The Tingmo bread is so soft and pillowy but still has a nice chew to it, we always get an extra one to go when we have leftovers. The portions are really big for the price.And I have to mention the ambiance and decor, it's surprisingly nice considering how unassuming it is from the outside. “My first impression of this Hot Space restaurant is their staff is very friendly and willing to answer your questions. For a first time visitor, that's definitely helpful.When we ordered the food, the waitress patiently explained what are the menu and what are the dishes they are known for. She even suggested the spiciness, and warned us the extra ingredients might ruined the perfect flavor.The restaurant prepared the food in the kitchen to maybe 95% done, and then sent the grilled fish in a tray on a stove to our table. The server told us to wait a few minutes for the flavor to fully sink in.We got the strip bass with the golden combination. The fish was grilled just right. The skin was crispy and easily separated from the meat. The meat was at an excellent tenderness. Under the fish were the golden combination ingredients we ordered. They added ample spices to create the flavor and sauce to dip the fish into.After the meal, we overheard that the restaurant doesn't do takeout. I think they want their diners to enjoy their dishes at the best quality. Takeout orders simply can't do justice.“

It was very filling, it was a deep bowl filled with mapo tofu beef and some greens and sauce. With white rice. It can easily be missed, the sign they have is not really good. If you know, and if I lived very close, it would be hard not to want to come at least once a week. Amazing value in a very built up part of town. “Surprise find specializing in Sichuan Chinese dishes! Naturally I was here for their Mapo tofu when I saw they offered it.The flavor of their take starts as a smoother, lighter umami (as opposed to those Mapo tofu dishes that hit the tongue heavier). But then you notice they still have the bean paste flavor, plus a creeping light numbing heat (the usual mala effect) begins to build as you eat. While this variation has a thicker oil rather than the thick sauce of other variants, it isn’t overly oily which me and my gut strongly appreciate.This is served in a porcelain-like container that seems to maintain heat well even if the aesthetic isn’t to my liking since it looks like Swiss cheese.A bowl of rice costs extra but I prefer it to complement the tofu each time.While my favorite flavor profile of mapo tofu in NYC probably belongs to Spicy Moon, I’d come here again for the tofu but also to try some of their other dishes like the classic Dan Dan noodles or their Peking duck!Also for any of you sea insect connoisseurs , I spotted a mapo LOBSTER dish on the menu! Which I can’t vouch for but was impressed to see since I can’t recall ever seeing that before.** Note: upon receiving my check I saw a “convenience fee” listed before I paid. The check does have the usual note about 3% fee for card payments but they seem to have proactively applied it, which isn’t my preference because I paid cash.“
“If you're looking for a skewer place this is the spot. Skewers are super cheap 60c each plus you can also order additional items from their menu. Get the spicy broth along with the pork bone. The spicy broth definitely has a kick if you are a fan of spicy food. Definitely goes well with the skewers plus an ice cool beer ! The restaurant is spacious with enough tables; there are a lot of different variety to choose from. They also give you a bag to put your jacket so it doesn't smell and an apron so your clothes don't get dirty. The service is top notch no complains there ! Will definitely be back! Waiters are very friendly and helpful when you have questions regarding choices of food or wine. The portions are huge and at a very reasonable price. They also know their wines and this was the only restaurant who asked a fair price for a glass (comparable to France, Italy and Belgium). To top it off, your glass of wine arrives almost completely filled to the top! This was the only restaurant during our stay in NYC we (gladly) tipped 25%.“

The entrees were also very flavorful, especially the sliced cured pork with dried string beans and dried radish. I was afraid that a dish with those ingredients would be too salty, but they were able to balance the flavors just right. Would absolutely order that dish again.
