“Awesome food. I had a little trouble finding the place as it was in a nearby town in a food court. Once found, thr food was delicious. Some of the best samosas I've had and I asked for the chicken tikka masala spicy amd it was perfect. The owner was the first one on the area to open the other Shalimar Indian restaurants in the area and he told me he had sold them all and opened this place. I was telling him that the quality had gone down at the other places and this place was better. Next time if I'm not so hungry I would get take out. I only wish that this place was closer and that I had a little more tikka sauce bc it was that good!!“
“The food is phenomenal and deserving of a fine dining experience. The dinning room could use some tint on the windows to block the harsh sunlight distracting from the decor, sure it’s fine in the evening. The place doesn’t feel fancy due to being in a strip mall but my goodness, the chief knows how to cook. Usually buffets are so so, but this is a buffet of perfectly seasoned dishes. Will definitely be adding this to our list of places to order dinners from :-)“
“The butter chicken pizza is really good and all the Indian dishes I have had have been surprisingly great. Flavorful and surprisingly spicy. The atmosphere is a little odd, so I wouldn't recommend eating here, but the take out is great.“
“Doesn’t look as nice on the outside but the inside is beautiful. Great ambience and the service was impeccable. But what really makes this place pop, is the incredible food. They have a unique presentation style and everything we tried was delicious. Definitely at the top of my list for Indian cuisine. A must try and there is a Groupon for $15 off!“
“The food was absolutely amazing! The buffet was hot all the food was very fresh. The service is unmatched. The staff are extremely friendly. The variety for vegetarian and individuals that prefer meat is there! Also the buffet changes daily and I have yet to have something I did not like. I highly recommend Dosa Grill Albany!“
“Wherever I go to a new city, I love to try the Indian food. Albany, this is a gem! I have never had better Indian food anywhere in the country. The complexities of flavors and textures and temperatures that make Indian food spectacular are all here. I had a sweet lassi, vegetable samosas, naan and Navratan Korma. Flawless.“
“This is one of the best authentic Pakistani restaurants in town, brought my picky Punjabi parents here and they loved it. Their channa and naan are awesome, also love their daal, chicken karahi, and seekh kabobs.Bonus: if you can read Urdu/Punjabi their interior wall art is hilarious!!Vegetarian options: Daal, Channa, saag, mixed veg, naans“
“I am an Indian-American, born and raised and am honestly pretty harsh when it comes to Indian food. This place not only met expectations, it exceeded them and then some. Please get the Apollo chicken. It is so authentic and just honestly really well done. Everything, even the chicken Rogan Josh was incredibly flavorful. I will be coming back here many more times. Additionally, our waiter was one of the nicest people I have had the honor of meeting in the Albany area“
“Was headed down to Latham Sunday to hit some shops we don't have here in southern Vermont and my husband joked, as I was leaving, "so we're having Indian for dinner?" I hadn't even thought of it (usually it's just when I am coming home from the airport). I ordered through yelp/grubhub as I was finishing my shopping and then headed over. I'd never tried Karavalli but it came highly recommended from a friend and she was right: it's awesome. As far as the takeout experience using yelp, it was easy to order and add a note (I always get takeout without napkins and whatnot to eliminate waste), ready right at the earliest moment it could be and REALLY well-packed. When I entered the space, which is very nice, I was greeted by a friendly host and then by the bartender who grabbed my order for me. The food was delicious and still hot when I got back home (about a 50-minute drive). The saag paneer is insanely fresh and had a nice amount of fresh ginger -- yummmmm. The chicken tikka masala was decadent and while I think it could have had a bit more chicken, it was delicious. We got the plain naan and it was chewy with a little crispness. You can order an 8 oz side of tamarind chutney. I did and have been putting it on literally everything. I will DEFINITELY make Karavalli a regular stop when making my trips to Latham for ulta/homegoods/michaels/target runs. I'd also like to try their Sunday brunch and to eat in the restaurant at some point!“
“LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. I've been ordering the Chicken Tikka Masala from here for a few years now and it NEVER DISAPPOINTS. The sauce is so well rounded and delicious, super creamy, but also super flavorful. Their garlic naan is also amazing. My fiance ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala pizza from here recently and loved it. I tried a piece and it was very good. Super innovative to turn their dishes into pizza form. He's gotten the Tandoori Chicken a few times as well and it's excellent. The customer service is great and everyone is always very friendly. I often find myself daydreaming about the next time I get to order food from here. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.“
“I’ve ordered twice recently and it’s been hot, fresh and delicious both times. The naan, samosas, and chicken tiki masala are incredibly good, great balance of spices & the portion sizes are large. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend.“
“I can't forget that Peshewari Naan and Bombay Aloo. Two awesome items with perfect balance of spice. They asked us the spice level we would prefer. This is something indian restaurants usually do not ask. Loved that part. Two other items were onion naan (was good) but the Mughlai chicken, something was off about it. It could be the balance of sweet or the salt was not right. I felt like I am eating a thik gravy. I believe the tea was over brewed and to balance it more milk was poured in. That's just an opinion as I know taste of tea is very subjective. Besides all of this the portion of one order was good for two. I think they are underrated by themselves. I would recommend them to change the whole seating arrangement. Also, update your restaurant name to Ahmed Restaurant. It was hard to find it.Spend $36 for two. (1. Mughlai Chicken came with choice of rice/Naan, Aloo Naan came with Rice/Naan)“
“I got the lamb kebab wrap with everything on it. I couldn't recommend it more! The lamb was cooked perfectly and seasoned well, and the pita had the right amount of meat and fillings in it (and it didn't fall apart while I ate it).“
