They sent me so much duck sauce, (homemade) soy scruce and mustard. that I could probably sell it in a yard sale. As far as hoisin sauce and hot oil, we’ll I still have some and it’s been a good while. They sent me a freezer bag full of soy sauce , duck sauce and mustard packets which I think I’ll have for a few years. They added the onions and shiitake mushrooms just as I asked for.But more importantly, the food impeccable. I can not complainabout about anything. The Authentic Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup is excellent as the broth is very thick and flavorful. “First things first, keep in mind I believe that this is a Szechuan style restaurant. Every dish is spicy AF lol. The reason why I pointed that out is that if you or a guest in your party does not eat spicy foods, then you're sh!t out of luck. This means there's not even one dish that isn't spicy. One of my guests stared at the beautiful menu for like 15 straight minutes and couldn't find one thing to order. He finally decided on a chicken dish and pleaded with the server if the chef could make it non spicy. They agreed, and when the dish came, it was still spicy, lol. “We were looking for a place to celebrate our daughter’s first birthday. We live in Manhattan and needed a place where we could host up to 80 people with easy parking and good food. All of the usual ideas weren’t cutting it for us so my father-in-law who lives in Woodmere suggested Jackie’s place as an option. My wife was a little hesitant at first. I think she had her mind made up with some of the more traditional options like an ice cream parlor or room somewhere with catering. But her father and Jackie talked some more and sent her pictures of the location and the idea of hosting here grew on her.Jackie had never hosted this kind of party but he and my wife worked out the details in terms of setting up a buffet, the right cost per person, the time (on Feb 10, Chinese New Year) and the decorations. Everyone was a little nervous, including her father who kind of felt like he set us up on a blind date: we hadn’t had the food or actually visited the place.Cut to the party and it wound up being absolutely amazing in every regard. My biggest concern was the food. My family loves Chinese and who knew it would be so delicious. I knew the other details would be fine in the end and people being together would make the party fine regardless, but bad food would have been trouble. Not only was the food not bad, it was truly Delicious! We had trays of dumplings, spring rolls, cold sesame noodles (often tough to get good ones but not here!), Sesame chicken, pork chow fun, shrimp with vegetables, lo meins, fried rices, Mongolian beef, and lots more. We figured we would have food to take home and were shocked at just how little left overs there were. And this was not due to lack of volume but instead to how much everyone ate.I could say lots more about Jackie’s first time hosting an affair like this, and about him as a host, and about the party being so successful. But bottom lines are these:1. If hosting a kid’s birthday or other such event at a Chinese restaurant wasn’t a thing, it should be now2. Call Jackie to host your next event. You won’t be sorry3. The waiter brought out the lettuce wraps first and when we finished the last bite the first order of dim sum came out, shumai which was delicious and then after we finished those dumplings the next set of dumplings came out. Timed perfectly so everything was fresh out of the oven. Main courses we had General Tso, Sesame chicken, Mongolian beef and Mongolian chicken. Venmo/Zelle not available.Must-try: Lu Rou Fan 卤肉饭，Taiwanese Salt Pepper Popcorn Chicken 盐酥鸡Recommendation: Gua Bao刈包, beef in Niu Rou Mian 牛肉面Food: We ordered Lu Rou Fan (braised pork rice), Gua Bao (meat bun), Niu Rou Mian (beef noodles), and salt pepper popcorn chicken. The best part is how tender and soft the meat is, even the fatty parts melt in your mouth. They offer two types of rice, Lu Rou Fan and Khong Rou Fan. Gua Bao uses the same Khong Rou in Khong Rou Fan. Khong Rou is a large piece of meat with fat and lean parts. Gua Bao uses crushed peanuts and sugar on the meat. If you like big bites of meat, you will probably like this texture. Note that it is relatively greasy compared to other dishes. The crispy fried chicken is quite tender, but a bit salty. The beef in the beef noodles is top-notch, sadly the noodles are too soft and lack chewiness. My personal favorite is Lu Rou Fan. It has pickled cucumbers inside with a slightly sour but refreshing taste to balance the greasiness. The sportion of food is another highlight. It is more filling than it looks.Price: It is beyond my expectation. “Food is freakin delicious. ? Crystal dumplings reminded me of childhood and growing up in Flushing. They are pillowy and sticky and perfect. Dipping sauce smells insane (and is pretty good). Also got plain lo mein - I always get that at Chinese restaurants because I love the texture of lo mein noodles but end up dousing them in soy sauce to taste something, anything. These were light years ahead of needing anything but chopsticks or a fork. So bouncy and so so yummy. Sautéed string beans were nice and garlicky and sesame chicken was wonderful. I felt like every bite of this meal was better than the next. Thx!“
“This is a hidden gem in East Rockaway! The food is delicious. We ordered Kung Po Chicken and Gyoza. The chicken came with rice, wonton soup (so good!) and crackers. The gyoza was awesome. We’d definitely come back and use this place as our go-to restaurant for Asian food in the area.“
