“I like this place. Food was good not that amazing but they are actually good. The servers too slow for small place like that, I ordered Thai Ice Tea never come out but they put on the bill, i told them about it, they readjusted the bill.

Ordered two desserts. Black bean with sticky rice and i dont know whats they called it this tiny bites colorful shaped with mung bean inside. The black bean with sticky rice was so good. Might be too sweet for most people, I recommend to share, bcos it will be too much and too sweet for yourself. The tiny colorful bites with mung bean inside, eeuwwwww. BIG NO. It has this fragrance taste like toilet freshener. I cant.”

“Delicious and affordable skewers. It takes a while for them to cook the skewers if you order in person but it is possible to contact them ahead of time for pickup. They have a few stools and a table set up if you want to sit and eat, however seating is very limited. Lamb is the best meat option for the skewers as it has the perfect amount of fatty bits that melt in your mouth. The meat is cooked to perfection and every bite is pleasant. Also, do not sleep on their vegetarian options either! I highly recommend the mushroom skewers. It is a line of emoki mushrooms with an addictive sweet and savory sauce. Best to get your order spicy! I find it to be not very spicy at all, just a light peppery tingle.”

Happy Stony Noodle 83-47 Dongan Ave, Elmhurst Taiwanese • $

“There are three really good Taiwan restaurants in Elmhurst, each with their own unique features…but Happy Stoney’s uniqueness is its authenticity.

I don’t just mean what’s on the menu, but how it tastes! If you’ve spent time in Taiwan and loved the food scene, you know EXACTLY what I mean!

Another point worth mention is that this business ISN’T GOING AWAY!

If you love Taiwan food, and you hate social media blackmail, show your support and make your stomach happy!”

The lunch special came with rice either white or brown and a cup of soup. The food here is super homey. The service at the restaurant is great. The hostess was super friendly. The place was packed and I believe there is a second floor. Waited a hot minute for my food but there was room to sit while you do.”

“If you guys are interested in a very great Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sandwich for breakfast, NEJ Josefina’s is the best place to visit. $6.00 for a sandwich like this is not bad at all.

As a resident in the Elmhurst neighborhood, my family and I have been fighting a lot to find a great location for breakfast and lunch. Until my family members told us about this place telling me that their Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sandwiches are really good. In the block by where I live, there is a deli close to the Elmhurst Avenue Subway Station, and their sandwiches aren’t that great. According to a store employee, she told us that a breakfast sandwich like this costs you $8.00 each. And when she told us that, that’s when we said no. Not because we’re not interested, it’s because their sandwiches aren’t too great.

In my personal experience, I’ve tried their Carne Asada Quesadilla Combo. I have to say, they are so good. I like the fact that they not only make you a quesadilla, but they also include rice and beans and a canned soda priced at $12.79. A little bit expensive but it’s worth it. I still recommend this place. But the only thing that is not great is that the space is so small that you can’t even go through if you need to grab other things to buy while your food is being prepared.

I would definitely recommend coming to this place.”

Ocean Bay 避風塘 83-02 Queens Blvd, Elmhurst Seafood • $$

“We stopped by Ocean Bay Restaurant for Sunday dim sum. The menu has all the typical dim sum favorites, and everything we ordered was satisfying.

My favorite was the shrimp cheung fun—it's one of my go-to dim sum dishes, and this one did not disappoint. We also ordered from the menu the pan-fried noodles with beef, which came in a surprisingly large portion and was very tasty.

Service was quick, and the food arrived without much wait. One thing to note is that the dining room feels a bit tight, especially with the traditional dim sum carts moving around the aisles.

Parking was easy since there's free parking nearby, which is definitely a plus.

Overall, while Ocean Bay wouldn't be my first choice for Sunday dim sum, it's a solid option if you're in the area or craving dim sum without a long wait.”

John's Pizzeria 85-02 Grand Ave, Elmhurst Pizza • $

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ **John's Pizza in Elmhurst, Queens is the REAL DEAL.** If you want authentic New York pizza, stop what you're doing and go here. The crust is thin — and I mean *perfectly* thin, the way it's supposed to be. The sauce is delicious, the cheese is real, and every bite reminds you why NYC pizza is in a class of its own. But what truly blew me away was meeting **Susan**, the owner. Her parents opened this pizzeria back in the **1960s**, and she is still there, carrying on that legacy with so much pride and love. I watched her make my pizza right in front of me — this is a woman who genuinely cares about what she puts out. That kind of dedication is rare. We talked for a while about how much the neighborhood has changed over the years, and she still works hard to keep her prices as low as possible for the community. That says everything about who she is. Susan, you are a gem. Queens is lucky to have you. 🍕 I'm already planning my next visit — every time I'm in the area, I'm stopping by. Highest recommendation possible. Don't sleep on John's Pizza!”

Good display of breads, cakes and items from the Philippines. Service: not much interaction cause I just bought cake and go. Food: UBE CAKE: omg it is so good! The cake itself is moist even few days after I purchase! The frosting is like cream type, its a bit a lot but it taste good because it taste ube as well. Unlike other ube cakes that the cream does not taste ube! I almost eat half of the cake because it is so good! Price rating: 7/10, $45 for a round cake. Thats the usual price now for more stores! Definitely will come back here I will try their other flavors! But get the ube cake!!”

“I didn’t know which one tasted better, so I tried them all. I found 3 things I liked... I asked them their names, but it turned out that the person working on them didn't speak much English. She answered me in Spanish...I don't understand Spanish, so I ignored the name? One is filled with egg, and the more you chew it, the more delicious it gets...The other one has the same texture as mochi. It's a potato on the outside and meaty on the inside.”

“Came in early a.m., walked in to a bright and energetic atmosphere. Greeted by the cashier I gave my order. 1 Coffee and 6 donuts, not only was the price right; the donuts were phenomenal. I was unsure of what to get but they were patient with me lol I am a bit of a coffee snob and this was one of the best I’ve had. I’m always weary going into new territory (my own bs) but this was a delightful encounter for sure. I will absolutely be returning (with my children) as they could not get enough of the donuts. My new favorite spot without a doubt!!”

“I love the rice rolls that are only available on weekends. They’re portioned more generously and much cheaper than the ones sold in Flushing. Although the selection is limited (beef, pork, dried shrimp, fish balls, char siu pork, Chinese sausage, etc.), they’re all delicious. I love their chewy texture—it’s just like mochi. The price is an unbelievable $3 to $3.50.

I also like the tofu pudding (a large container for $4), which is almost identical to Japanese silken tofu, but the quality varies from day to day. The one I bought this time had a mushy texture on top—perhaps because the soy milk was too thin.”

“The food here is outstanding! So many great dishes. Sure… it’s not all modern and trendy with LED lightshows and fancy decor, but the food and service are what you go for. To start, the complimentary roasted peanuts are made in house… so good!… and not salty. One of my favorite dishes is the stuffed eggplant / stuffed peppers and tofu. Their Peking pork chops is one of the best around. Other family members love the eggplant with dried fish (not my thing). Other great dishes; shrimp with walnuts, beef chow fun, beef tendon casserole, water spinach, tofu and codfish casserole. Everything so good!!! Prices are reasonable.”

“pretty yum! i was a teeny tiny bit scared because there seems to be a lot of variance in the reviews, so i dunno!! my guy used to eat here as a kid and he had a lot of good things to say, and i was also a little scared of it not living up to his memory of it but it was pretty good! i think it's actually better than the other pho bang that i went to in Manhattan, but i don't remember it too well, anyway, this guy wanted a pork chop so there that was, and he said that it was good but a little small and the plate makes it a bit difficult to eat. food came out really really fast, like the pho came out within like 3 minutes of ordering, and the pork chop a little later. big thing with the pho is that the broth is pretty good, my guy really liked it, and they give a lot more meat compared to other places, which was good, but my guy said that he remembers the bowl being bigger back in the day, i got an XL but he said it looks like a large or a regular, idk, I got full, I'm fine with it. you gotta pay at the front in cash and lowkey hoping that the tip went to the waitress, the cashier said to give it with the payment so idk, but overall, i don't have any major complaints, the water was fine, food was good, and the service was typical for an Asian establishment”

“So far our experience here is amazing. There were 8 of us plus a baby and the servers were all very nice to us, accommodating our needs. Very friendly too. Food is amazing! We had the beef pho, lamb chops, cha gio:sprint roll, sliced beef marinated in special sauce, beef and chicken curry. Food is excellent and amazing how cheap it is. For 8 of us bill was only $190 and plus extra $37 for tip. Usually for this big group its usually close to $400. Highly recommend this place. If ur friendly to the servers, they are good to you.”

It’s a popular local spot with only two or three guys working, so expect a wait time. They also have plastic chairs in the corner so you can pull off the stack while waiting. If the meat is fatty or not seasoned to your taste the main server is very accommodating. The beef, lamb, enoki mushroom, and lotus root are our go-to order.”
