I have had the pleasure of enjoying treats and breakfast egg sandwiches from Glendale Bake Shop for over a decade. Used to live nearby to it and enjoyed it quite often, but even after moving away it's remained well worth the trip back, anytime I get the chance. I'm guilty of not writing five star reviews often, but Glendale Bakery is honestly phenomenal. I just started sixth grade, and I often buy pastries here while walking home. Once, I was buying a giant chocolate chip cookie for my friend, and the man behind the counter offered us the cookie for free. I was confused because, of course, I normally don't get this kind of offer, but he insisted for us to take the cookie. Walked in here to see the display, and instantly had to buy my favorite cake of all time. Blackout cake isn't very common nowadays, so it's nice to see this long-standing bakery have an old Brooklyn classic on the menu. I will say, it's not the best blackout cake I've ever had (there's an odd taste at first bite), but it's still decadent and satisfying. They should just edit the recipe a little bit to make it have a more chocolatey flavor.
