This is a lovely little bistro. My brother and I went for brunch. We shared the endive and bleu cheese salad for a starter and I had the french toast with fresh fruit. Both dishes were amazing. The servers are really friendly and very attentive. Tres magnifique!

Terrible customer service, the waiter is quite rude, the food is horrible, my shrimp were burnt, I couldn't even eat them, it seems that they only kindly serve those who are from their country, there was a table with a French couple and the waiter treated them I gave to them was completely different, they do not have a notice that says that they only accept cash or American Express, it is something unreal when we are in a technological era where everywhere they receive all the cards, I had to leave my bag as a guarantee while I went to take out money from an ATM, now I understand why every time I walk by the front of this restaurant it is empty, don't waste your money or time eating here LIC has better restaurants with great food and good customer service.

The food is really below our expectation, the snail was terrible and we have never tasted any saltier cod fish, it was totally non edible. The whole fish was almost untouched, no one came to check and ask why I didn’t eat the fish, and the server who came to pick up my full plate was even saying, “Ohh, food so yummy, you like it huh” with a smile and took the full plate away. Also, they don’t say no to just tap water. Coaxed us into getting drinks, in which we understand, as drinks are their main revenue given the anniversary promotion. So we ordered two drinks, one was coffee for dessert. The condiments came immediately, but coffee never arrived. We totally understand as they were very very busy. So after we finished the dessert, which made no sense for coffee anymore, we cancelled the coffee with grace and totally understand the situation. What turned us off is when the waitress was showing such an attitude when she can’t persuade us to still say yes to coffee, after I told her that I wanted it with the dessert. Rolled her eyes and came back with a check. We paid, we tipped, we left and never looked back. The plan for the day and paying $15 to park at the open air garage next door were totally not worth it.P/s: For those who thought this place must be legit because the floor staff all speak French, all their cooks in the kitchen are Hispanics. Nothing wrong and I’m Hispanic myself, just don’t judge a book by its cover. The food is bad.Parking: $15 next door whole day parking

I was served sour mushroom and veggie and fried beef.. think they had that dish out for a week and still served it. Very yikey food and service. Don’t eat here unless you want to get food poisoning.Added 2 days later: no evidence if this is related but 6 hours after I made this negative review, my husband got over 10 missed calls from an unknown caller and someone created a fake account using my 15 months daughter’s photo under my name and posted bunch of hateful comments on both of our facebooks. We have no evidence that those 2 events are related but the timing is very coincidental. So lesson learnt here is take care of your social media privacy settings esp when you are leaving public reviews and when your little ones are involved and watch out for potential retaliation from the restaurant. I belong in many mom groups in LIC and have warned the moms about this incident.

This place is an absolute staple. I’ve been here many times but I felt compelled to leave a review after having this lamb shank and garlic chicken. The food has always been on point and the ambience is quaint. Although it’s only steps from the Vernon stop on the 7 train, it never feels overwhelming in terms of noise or foot traffic. Peaceful, savory, and welcoming.

One of the last “True” French bistros left in NYC, We’ve loved Tournesol for years. Generally speaking we’ve walked away very satisfied with our meal and have often shared our enjoyment with friends and family. Their Anniversary price fixe menus are amongst the best in the city and we look forward to celebrating with them again this year. Unfortunately our last visit left me disappointed. A duck liver mousse terrine was well executed but the small salad on the plate had way too much vinaigrette and the acid didn’t compliment the terrine. The soup of the day seemed to have some sort of balsamic glaze drizzled on it that really didn’t marry well with the soup. My wife really enjoyed her trout Muenier. Probably my biggest disappointment was the Lamb Shank special. What arrived was a big, beautifully braised, falling off the bone lamb shank. Unfortunately whoever was responsible for making the shanks that day completely forgot to season the shanks and the braising liquid. They were flavorless. Same with the accompanying lentils. Unfortunately whoever was responsible for making the lentils for this dish thought that simply adding a bouquet garni was enough to flavor the lentils. It wasn’t, and since the shank and sauce arrived unseasoned, I found myself hitting the salt shaker again and again and again. It didn’t really help much. It was SO disappointing because the lamb shanks were absolutely PERFECTLY. Cooked. I’m not trying to be mean, rude or insulting but the lamb wasn’t cheap. Please …pick up the salt and pepper and let folks truly enjoy a perfectly cooked lamb shank!

I’ve been coming here with friends & family for many of the 25 years since opening & everything we love about the place hasn’t changed.

Tournesol is really just the most enjoyable local neighborhood bistro that you can find in the Long Island City area. The staff is super friendly and straightforward in their recommendations, they have excellent service and the chef is happy to help you decide on the best dishes each day. The dishes are refined with well put together mains and accompaniments without being overly fancy and always well executed. The menu is not too big and they do fish and meat really well in addition to all of the side dishes and vegetables. The prices are also super reasonable and the atmosphere is really fun and local. Overall, we always enjoy a date night at Tournesol and I hope it stays as an establishment in this neighborhood for a very long time.

Live quite close but only go to the restaurant occasionally. However, every time the food is delicious, and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is lively and fun, feels like you are actually in France. Don’t hesitate to check it out.

We love coming here for a low key dinner date in the neighborhood. Everything about it is pleasant. The owners and staff are lovely, the food is authentic and perfectly seasoned. Ingredients are fresh and well paired.I’m gluten free and have never felt like there were compromises made on quality or execution. They don’t carry gluten free bread, but are very willing to make small adjustments to accommodate dishes here and there. I’m definitely a fan.
