Well, I decided to try Modern again but my report isn't good. I ordered spaghetti & meatballs. I asked that they send some bread and grated cheese. The pasta was overcooked. The sauce was awful. It was dark red and very acidic and to make matters worse they mixed the sauce in to the pasta instead of putting the pasta in first and then adding the sauce and topping with the meatballs. I couldn't escape this awful sauce. And then I tried the meatballs. I can't even describe what was wrong with these meatballs. They were big and they sliced easily which is where my compliments end. The flavor was not there. I will never order from Modern again. I realize that there are other things that modern does well but they have made spaghetti and meatballs a bad memory for me.

Great food and service, the drinks!!!! Always amazing. With a staff that is long lasting, it makes you feel like you're home. You can dress up or go casual which I absolutely love. Their chicken scarp is the best and their pizza and pastas are always great .

Nothing less than outstanding food from a 1st generation Italian-American! The service in the restaurant & for take-out is amazing. You will not be disappointed eating here. The restaurant itself is in an old, semi art deco building that used to be an Oldsmobile car dealership. This place is awesome.

Rodrigo is the best bartender and the food was amazing!!! Staff is super nice and quick service, very clean establishment. Bathroom very very clean. Well lit place.

I'm firmly believe if a restaurant can do a good job when they offer a catered venue then the regular menu must be good. I've been to many places where the restaurant had good food and service, but they crumbled when it came to a private party. Not this place. My review is based on bar service/drinks and the private affair. The restaurant is big with an "old time" design to it. The bartender was dressed very nicely Reminisce of days gone by. Even the stemware reminded me of a glass from a bygone era. Good cocktails, lychee martini and another drink that had lavender and gin in it. Now to the party. Open bar (what's not to like). A big pizza was placed on each table. Nice thin crust with a good taste. The rest of the meal was served family style. Excellent fried calamari, baked clams, Italian salad. The meatballs got mixed reviews from our table of 8. The main meal was plates of penne vodka, chicken cutlets with slices mushrooms and melted cheese, sausage and peppers in tomato sauce. The side dish was potatoes and string beans. Each main meal also served family style was fully flavored. We rolled out of the restaurant with our bellies full. We were about 70 people. Valet parking was available on a Saturday night. Not sure about non weekends but it's needed as there isn't much parking in the area. It was really a good experience all around from service, quality of food and several times we requested more food and was quickly accommodated. I was so busy eating and chatting that I didn't take many photos.

Excellent Italian food! Service is fast and friendly Lovely ambiance. I've been a customer since modern was a hole in the wall on the other side of NR and in hs he delivered pizza for Modern. Now a lovely upscale restaurant. Always a treat!
We had dinner here, very nice place,decor, spacious, clean. The bathroom nice and clean. Good service nice people. Good food,* however the portions were small.* Expensive.The mozarella sticks were half the normal size, quite small, pasta served in small bowl and not enough.I am not sure if I would go back for those reasons.

The wait staff is great, patient and informative. Their wine and beer selection is excellent. Food is delicious and atmosphere is very comfortable.

This was exceptional with the right amount of everything.Appetizers: I recommend the meat balls. They come with a bit of ricotta. My wife had chicken scapariello... while I did not taste it, it did look outstanding... complete with sausage.
