Loved this place! The most authentic yōshoku (western style Japanese food) one can find in NYC, from presentation to the food itself. Ordered the curry with Tonkatsu and every bite was delicious. Tonkatsu was perfectly crispy and the curry went really well with it also. If you pay a little bit extra you get 5 small side dishes and a miso soup, that I think was well worth the price. I sincerely like this place. Short and sweet menu. And nearly everything is on point and taste fantastic.But the portion Vs the Price is a bit disproportionate.Everything was on the smaller portion side and it was a little disappointing for a decent amount of price.I would be gladly paying higher prices for a bit more food. The atmosphere of Aoi is excellent. The food is satisfactory.The katsu curry was a little creamy for my taste, but overall satisfied my craving. The chicken nanban was tasty, but unusual — the sauce was sticky and sweet, resembling teriyaki more than traditional nanban sauce, which is thinner and slightly sour.
