wonderful tapas place! lots of food to taste from ham and cheese to sardines and olives. also some nice authentic spanish dishes like patatas rojo or fried cheese balls with a mix of meat/cheese inside (just godlike). couple of open wines to taste and a nice collection of bottled ones. overall awesome

Would not feed this to my cat. Got food poisoning. Food was disgusting. Total scam. They know what they’re doing. Ordered cheese/meat platter and gambas al ajillo. Came with olives that were rotting and stale crackers. The shrimp smelled and tasted like it was boiled in clam brine—inedible. Wine was good. Want to know the cost? $135 dollars before tip. I have ordered this exact meal at around 30 locations at all price points in the US and Spain. I had to leave because the smell of the shrimp was making me nauseous. I wouldn’t feed this to a cat, dog, or rat. Protect your wallet and spare your Friday night! Go to boquería.

What a treat to sit in the back and have a bunch of small orders both cold and warm served to your table. And don’t forget to take home some of their great selection.

Went by Despaña for what was supposed to be a quick lunch stop, but we ended up having lunch inside to enjoy the lovely ambience. The place is run by people that truly care about their produce, and you can taste it as well. We went for two toasted sandwiches, I really recommend visiting!

Authentic and quality Spanish ingredients. You can also get something to eat at the place in a bunch of tables they have: a few tapas and wine. But the strong point is the sort of market with all quality goods from Spain: jamón ibérico, anchoas, bonito, arroz bomba, judión de la granja, fabes, morcillas, chorizos, quesos, almendras marcona, vinagre de jerez, aceite de oliva… the list goes on. Top quality products

Incredible service, we were unsure of which vinegar to buy so the staff set up a tasting for us to decide. 12/10

I came in Yesterday and was assisted by a gentleman named Ray. He helped me choose right wine. He offered Pingus Riberra del Duero. And it was excellent. They have great choice of food, i tried some cheese and it was really tasty. Felt like real authetic spanish food. Will be back.

Despaña is a wonderful place to indulge in Spanish wine and tapas in SoHo. This location is intimate, yet quiet enough to read a book or enjoy conversation in the afternoon.Unfortunately, the staff, particularly the young woman who takes orders at the counter in the back of the store, show little regard for people of color.ANY person of color considering a visit to Despaña should expect poor service and an unwelcoming reception from the staff in the back of the store. All other patrons should expect to be greeted with exceptional service and smiles from cheek to cheek. Enjoy!...

Updating my review, received incorrect sandwiches, they issued a credit. Thanks again to Max ?if you have been to Spain you NEED to visit Despaña!

1. Try out their cheesecake. It is to die for.2. The best cheese (I tried 6 of them) is the one that has a combination of milks. The other ones are good, this one is just superior.3. The staff is very professional and courteous.Overall solid place for some good quality Spanish food.
