I was so sad to find out yesterday that this Thai restaurant has permanently closed. I ventured there with my group like we've done many times before only to find out they had shuttered what a disappointment. I've eaten there so many times & was never disappointed with the quality of the food. So sorry they're now closed. Thank you for your service!

Located in "NYU territory" Galanga is likely to be your go-to Thai spot in the area. Our party of 6 was able to snag a table an hour or so before they closed. The service was really nice, albeit a tad slow. I'll jump directly to our dishes. I ordered the Crying Tiger and Rozena ordered the 3 Flavor Fish Fillet. Both dishes are packed with flavor, but at the same time, the tanginess was incredibly powerful. I thought the crying Tiger was pretty sour, which isn't the worst thing when your dish comes with a side of rice. But it wasn't expected. The fish fillet is delicious, and the better of the two, but also leaning toward powerfully tangy.Prices are somewhat reasonable, and like I said, service was pretty decent.

Authentic Thai food restaurant. Spicy as it should be for Thai food. You can choose your spicy. Owner are professional Thai chef. Taste are so good. Seating area are cozy. Reservation is recommended. Spicy duck salad is good too.

Craving some Thai food, my party dropped by an hour before closing. Galanga thankfully had no wait, and we were treated to great Thai food with some unique options. I got the Rama noodle (with pad thai style noodles) with chicken which was very tasty. The spice was mild but flavorful. Although the noodles soaked up most of the peanut curry sauce, I was able to pair some of it with a tasty portion of sticky rice.Service here was very slow on a Monday night. It took us a good 20 minutes to wave down someone for the check. On the flip side, it was nice to have more time to chat and chill at the table.

Paid a visit about a week or so ago for lunch and my friend were in for a treat. Everything was delicious...think we were still talking about it days later. Oh we'll be back soon. ???

High quality food, unique cocktails, chill and quiet ambiance, top notch service. What else do you need from a good restaurant?Vegetarian options: You can replace meat with vegetables

Galanga is a staple and probably one of the oldest Thai eateries in Greenwich Village, enjoying regular followers throughout the years. The ambiance is friendly and casual, making it ideal for impromptu dinners or nights out.It was a bit early for dinner when we arrived, and we had no problem choosing a table for two by the window. We started our dinner with a cold bottle of Singha beer and the golden calamari. The dish was on point (as we always order this wherever we can). It was crispy and juicy, served with a chili sauce. Next, I ordered the Tom Yum soup with shrimps. The soup was spicy to my liking, but a little bit on the salty side. For the main entree, I selected the spicy basil crispy pork belly and the drunken noodle with chicken. The scent of basil on the pork dish was mouth-watering. It had a bit of spice, but it wasn't too challenging. The pork crackling was crispy, but once again, I found it a bit salty for my palate. Meanwhile, my partner enjoyed his delicious drunken noodles.Overall, I found the service efficient and friendly, and the dishes were freshly made. However, a couple of dishes were on the salty side. For my future visit, I will probably give the chef a heads-up to take it easy on the salt.

The food here is actually quite affordable for New York prices because it doesn't cost too much but you get a lot of food for it. So it definitely fits in with that college poor kid crowd. However, if you order the pad Thai, I suggest ordering one with either the meat protein options or nothing. I ordered veggie with my pad Thai and it was predominantly green beans. There wasn't a whole lot of variety in the vegetables mixed in. There are better Thai places in New York. This was just okay.

Ordered drunken noodles for takeout. Pickup process was quick and easy, but the dish lacked flavor I'd expect from the dish.Extra half star for being one of the cheaper Thai options in the area though.

The meal amount is reasonable with the price and the taste is nice.

Thai beef rice is pretty good, although it's a little bit salty. Cheap and delicious. The curry noodle is normal.

Pro: This place has more room for large party and good service.Con: I'm not crazy about taste of food at all.I heard the name and taste of food of this place for long time but never have chance to try their food. After meeting, one of my groups decided to go to this place because its closest Thai restaurant nearby. I didn't want to say anything to spoil they hope so I just follow them. After my food came it was exactly what I think, LOLMy suggestion, if you know how Thai food supposed to taste you won't like the food here.

Great place for Thai food. Would recommend trying the Galangal Crispy chicken, Pad Thai with Shrimp and Crispy Pork Belly with Chinese Broccoli. The food is tasty and the price is quite reasonable for what you get. The service is speedy and the staff is quite attentive. I'd consider going here again to try their other dishes.
