I can't believe I lived in Washington Heights for so long and never visited La Casa del Pollo. The chicken always smelled so good but I never found an occasion to go. I was feeling a bit homesick for Dominican food today so I decided to stop by on my way home since it was on the way. While this the rotisserie chicken, they also sell other platters. I'm not sure if the menu changes daily but they had a display of cooked meats and rice ready to go. All of the meat, including grilled and stewed chicken, roasted pork (pernil), steak and meatballs all looked appetizing. They don't have the prices listed in the window so you have to just ask since it's not by weight. I'm sure they have a menu somewhere but when I walked in I just had to ask the lady at the counter. She took care of me right away and packed up a lunch size platter of the pernil (note that lunch platters are available even outside of "lunch" time) and a whole rotisserie chicken meal. Both meals were huge portions, enough to eat multiple times easily. It was an incredible value for the price. When I got home to eat it, the chicken was incredibly juicy and flavorful. My fiancé devoured the pernil and Moro too. He loved it. Overall, this place isn't anything fancy by any means but the food alone makes it worthy of five stars. It's super delicious and affordable. I will definitely be back.

Roasted chicken is one of my favorite dishes to eat as a healthier takeout meal option. This place makes some of the best rotisserie chicken I’ve had in this neighborhood — i get it nearly every other week. They also make really good empanadas. I’m not gonna lie, everything here looks OD good though. I definitely will try the rest of the menu at some point.

First time being back there in a while. My favourite server, Michelle, was also there as I haven't seen her in a long time. I was hoping to have her serve me some grub, but instead I was greeted and served by a woman wearing a red shirt who was not so friendly.I didn't want to make a fuss about it, since I'm used to Michelle's professionalism and politeness whenever she serves me, so I gave the lady in the red shirt a chance to see if she too was the same way. She wasn't.As this woman was preparing the food, she, Michelle, and the cashier whom I also recognized, were conversing in Spanish and laughing. Although my Spanish was anything but fluent, I couldn't quite make out exactly what they were saying. But I did however hear Michelle say to the cashier in Spanish "that's my friend!" The cashier and the lady in the red shirt both laughed as they looked at me.As much as I don't want to believe that Dominicans are racists towards black people, or that maybe these people just don't like me in particular for whatever reason, the atmosphere tonight was far from welcoming. As I left the restaurant, the women continued to talk and laugh.Needless to say as a black man, I've felt disrespected and betrayed especially by someone whom I thought I can count on for great service everytime i dine there. This may be the last time I'll patronize this place.
They have very good food at very reasonable prices as well. They also discontinued their Pizzeria about a year and a half ago, since their main restaurant's food is much better. Their Pizzeria never really caught-on with their main restaurant's regular customers, which there are many.

This was the best flavor that I've had in years, The pork ribs were amazing ??. The service was friendly as well. Great location too, just nowhere to park, you'll most likely be double parking, and if you park there in a slot, you risk being blocked in by the time you come back out to the car ?. Lots of trucks, and cabs ? pull up there, it's right by the George Washington Bridge ?
