I won’t say it is a bad Chinese restaurant. Actually it is one of the best Chinese restaurants in NYC, offering some dishes which you cant find somewhere else. But it is just a Chinese restaurant. You can’t compare it with those in China, either for food or for service. Its service is somewhat better than its Chinatown peers, worth perhaps tips of about 10%.
Outstanding Cantonese food, both authentic and creative. There were so many intense, concentrated flavors in every dish--it was a real treat! I also really enjoyed their chrysanthemum tea.

I enjoyed Ping's for dimsum! We ate on a Sunday morning 11am, and I was suprised for walk ins there were no lines and a good amount of available tables. Note that they don't have carts here - which is for the best because the walking space is narrow in the restaurant. But some people come through with one tray of a certain dish like the steamed char siu baos or egg tarts now and then. But generally the ordering is more a la carte. The service is great here.
