“Tasty dim sum, a compromise towards flavor and price over ambiance and excellence. Everything was well prepared, and had a good flavor; yet nothing was outstanding. The self service ordering system is convenient, and the pictures are useful. It loses some of the charm of push carts and nagging waiters. The ambiance is sterile and the sitting seating space is of average comfort“
“Higly recommend for hong kong cuisine in midtown. I had the duck noodle soup. Soup base and noodles were good. The duck was okay so I probably try some other protein instead next time. They have hk style milk tea which really made me happy. The portuguese tart flaky pastry crust and the filling was really good.“
“The restaurant was so cute inside. Very comfortable and spacious. The waiter was very kind and encouraged us to have fun. A manager brought us over to the downstairs club towards the end of the night where my friends and I enjoyed some tequila lemon drop shots. The shots were literally the size of a cocktail. The food was quite tasty. The pork dumplings and shrimp wontons were scrumptious and the lobster toast was the highlight of the entire menu!“
“Relatively new places, launched by a Chinatown local. You will come across this place through a keyword search for “Cantonese”. Don’t be disappointed if you don’t get the flavors as if you were in Sai Ying Pun. Dishes are Americanized to tailor to the locals. And yes, “general Tso’s chicken” has its honorable place on the menu. And yes, it is amazing. All dishes are amazing. No wonder there is a huge line to get a table. There hasn’t been a single smile coming out of any of staff members, but it’s ok. Food quality and atmosphere overshadow particularities of one’s hard day at work.“
“I ordered the soup dumplings, egg custard and congee. Everything was so amazing - some of the best dim sum I’ve had and at a great price. It came out super fast too. ??? definitely trying to get my friends to come here next time with me! Also the people here are “
“I gave this an energetic for noise because we were making all the noise. Good time had by group of long time friends enjoying an amazing dim sum lunch. Service was friendly, food was above average, menu was a bit smaller than most Chinatown dim sum menus but no one was lacking for something to eat. A delicious fun time had by all. We will be back.“
“This restaurant tool me by surprise. It is not like a typical restaurant around China town. The space was modern very clean airy and tables were spaced apart. The young staffs were friendly and service was quick. The chang fens were not like traditional chang fens. It had the freshly made thin rice paper filled with lots of fillings. The portion was generous. The congee was served in a huge bowl and tasty. The Hong Kong milk tea was strong and authentic. We loved food and service.“
“I’m almost confused as to why there is such an authentic Cantonese spot that opened up in this location. Servers are all Cantonese. It’s as if they pulled the staff and the entire restaurant and just opened it on the uws. With that said, servers will be yelling to each other ? Been here twice now. Love the clay pot rice. And also the dining atmosphere is very nice, especially for a Cantonese restaurant. Good lighting, nice decor.“
“This has been my favorite rice roll place for over a year. I usually get a pork rice roll and herbal jelly. There is a much longer line since they got more popular though. Still fairly quick, and reasonably priced. I can only go when my school has a half day, because they close very early (by my standards). Definitely recommend!“
“This is one of the few places that serves **real** cantonese food attracting **both** Asian and non-Asian guests. Their food is just so good that they don’t need to change to cater to any group of people. It’s busy and always full inside, but the wait isn’t long because the staff works hard to deliver food very quickly. Try the roast duck and pork, and if you like chow fun they have what you’ll love. Did I mention everything is so affordable too?“
“The BeiJing duck was well spiced and sliced. While the staff provided supplementary vegetables and wraps whenever we ran out, the wraps were quite thin and often stuck to each other, making the experience difficult. The lamb hot pot was quite spicy as it had claimed to be. I enjoyed the various cuts. The basket of vegetables were a nice pairing.“
“Solid Cantonese showcasing all of the classic dishes.Fast and tasty Chinese in a big and busy restaurant which is knocking out Chinese comfort foods - congee, Chinese vegetable (get the pea shoots) and a wide range of seafood and meat dishes.Notes about scoring:1 star = Memorably awful2 star = Not good and would avoid3 star = Good but would not return4 star = Recommended5 star = Incredible and must visit if you can“
“I visited Dim Sum Palace and was completely satisfied! A large selection of dim sum provided an unforgettable culinary experience, and every bite was simply incredible. The service was top notch and the atmosphere of the restaurant added to the coziness. I will definitely come back here again!“
“We got a reservation for 9 people on a Sunday morning at this location of Dim Sum Palace and it was a nice way to spend time with family. The restaurant isnt very big but there's enough room for two large tables and a decent number of tables for 2 and 4. We ordered around 20 different items and the standouts were the shrimp rice rolls, soup dumplings, beef chow fun, and stir fried turnip cake. The service was generally good but three items never arrived at our table and we had to let the staff know; the food arrived at the end when we were almost at max capacity. All in all Dim Sum Palace is a more relaxing and approachable alternative to venturing to the large dim sum places Chinatown or Flushing.“
“I enjoyed Ping's for dimsum! We ate on a Sunday morning 11am, and I was suprised for walk ins there were no lines and a good amount of available tables. Note that they don't have carts here - which is for the best because the walking space is narrow in the restaurant. But some people come through with one tray of a certain dish like the steamed char siu baos or egg tarts now and then. But generally the ordering is more a la carte. The service is great here. They are on top of it - taking your orders (especially since it is a la carte ordering) and refilling teas immediately. Make sure to turn over the top of the teapot to indicate you need a refill! My favorites were: Sticky rice, which had a lot of good meat in it including egg yolk, sausage, and juicy ground meat Short ribs - so flavorful Turnip cakes (lo bak go) - had great bites of diced sausage Baked pineapple bun - not only is there custard inside but also some pineapple pieces! Fried dough stick with rice noodle - delish sauce and sprinkle of green onion garnish is a great touch Asian greens with fried shallots (good to have as a green veggie!) Shu mai and har gow, which are my go-tos, are of course delicious but nothing that stood out to me compared to other places I've been to. I would recommend Ping's for dimsum! It was very nice to experience a dim sum dining experience that didn't feel rushed and had attentive service.“
“Been coming here often when I want rice rolls. I enjoy their specialty combos with the shrimps! It can get a bit crowded but it's delicious. I tried the wontons and they were whatever. I recommend just sticking with the rice rolls only“
“This place was great. I took my mom there and she ordered beef with onions and scallions with an order of pork fried rice. The portions were huge and shareable. I had their brisket soup! It was so delicious! My mom loved her food and so did I! Person serving us was super nice and place was very clean. Great prices too! I want to take my husband and kids soon.“
“They have the most authentic Korean japchae and kimchi I’ve ever had :) totally reminds me the good old times :) and most importantly everything is vegan :) I was shocking that I haven’t been here in a while the Malaysian manager move back “
“Excellent old style dim sum. You know it’s good when elderly uncles aunties gather on a sunday for dim sum. Shout out to these dishes - pearl balls (minced pork ball covered with glutinous rice, delicious), and wu har (shredded yam with prawns, a popular southern chinese dish my grandma used to make!). Friendly aunties serving food and speaking Taishan or Toi Shan, giving a vibe that is authentic. Very busy on Sunday so come early before 10am.Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids with families. Dim sum is good for children and sweet dim sum available.“
“Amazing food, awesome atmosphere, a must try if you are in the East Village area. The people who work there are really kind and take great care of you while you're there. I would definitely recommend the Taiwanese popcorn chicken and Signature claypot!“
“It's the best place for a 8-10ppl birthday dinner! I guarantee you all the tables around you will have a birthday person and birthday songs will not end all night. It just adds to the festivities!! Good food is always a plus. They are fast with serving food but extremely slow with serving water for some reason so note that. We ordered individual items for a party of 8 people instead of ordering the set menu and it came out to be so cheap (<$30pp). If you are on a budget, don't go with the set menu and order individual items. We ordered a lot of food, triple checked with the staff that we will have enough for our group and we were so stuffed, and yet it was so affordable.Note: absolutely no hard liquor allowed even though it's byob.Even if you have a reservation, expect to wait up to 30 min.“
“Quick dinner! I got the shrimp dumplings with a count of 4. The shrimp dumplings were very juicy and good! For my main entree I got the low mein with pork. The pork was not good and not cooked very much long. It had many way too fatty pieces. Otherwise the restaurant is a 7/10. So it is average. There could be better restaurants than this.“
“Excellent food. Really good prices (paid 60 for 2 with appetizer and beers).Atmosphere a bit noisy and the music unnecessary. Service was a bit rushed. But I would absolutely come back.PS: they blackmail you to leave a 5-star review by giving away free soy-milk drinks.“
“Nothing short of incredible! This is the best Pecking duck in Manhattan, maybe in the world. We come for the food and stay for the service - the service team is incredible and the management team is our favorite in NYC! They always go above and beyond to make us feel like family :)“
“Delicious and good price. I could smell the meat from outside and that’s what attracted me in.You get half a roasted duck 烧鸭 for 16 and a large amount of char siu 叉烧 meat for only 12 a pound. Rice is 1.5. Both were delicious.Service was very quick too, I ordered and in a couple of seconds I was walking out.“
“My boyfriend and I ate here after the Lunar New Year Parade. They were packed yet accommodating. This was our first time and the food was delicious. I got the beef pan fried noodles and he got the roast pork over rice. We were both glad with the meal and happy we checked out this place.“
“If you are in the area check this place out. Staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean. The food was on point. We had the pork soup dumpling, scallion pancakes, and Peking duck buns. All of it was fantastic. I can't wait to go back.“
“I really should have taken a picture but everything smelled so good! We went here after the Shen Yun performance to continue our experience and absolutely loved it! Highly recommend you get the pork and chives dumplings, three come per serving. We also got the jumbo shrimp with mango, the sauce was yummy!“
“Chinese restaurant in Greenwich Village a stone's throw from the subway station and Union Square. Excellent friendly and efficient service in a modern environment with soft lighting, fresh and clean. Tasty, abundant, spicy and some very spicy dishes. It's worth a pleasant and relaxing dinner. Prices in line with restaurants in the category.N.B.: Here too, as in all the clubs in New York, you will be accompanied by an imaginary friend to whom you will have to pay the bill (I mean the additional cost of service and tip)... to level the playing field we should start charging tourists for this tax Americans in Italy.“
“Amazing, great quality dim sum that is surpassed by none. If you have the funds or the luck to try this place, I recommend to do so immediately. From the perfect crunchiness of the spring rolls to the rich creamy texture of the fried milk sticks, the flavors are second to none.“
“Pretty good rice rolls (I much prefer the ones in Chinatown) but this is a good option in the Upper West Side! There is limited seating. But given the orders didn't come out very fast, by the time you get your order, there's a chance someone leaves by then.“
“***** FIVE STARS *****OUR NEW PLACE is my place nowFOOD IS SPECTACULARWe had Genl Tso Chkn and (spicy) Hot&Sour Soup & pepper steakThe food was fresh & high qualityThe veggies were perfectly cookedPepper Steak was high quality BeefWe were eating at a restaurant on York for years.... that restaurant quality has gone done. “Welcome to Yao, where Cantonese cuisine gets a modern makeover and your taste buds embark on a Harold and Kumar flavor adventure. The decor is prettier than the Met on a first date, and your wallet will likely hate you at the end of the night, but at least you're in for a truly sumptuous meal. Let me take you on a culinary rollercoaster through some of their best dishes: - Marinated Jellyfish with Sesame: My litmus test for most Canto spots. Nothing wrong with Yao's, except that it's too small. - Grilled Berkshire Pork: Presentation much? This dish was meant to be 'grammed. Imagine pork so succulent it's like biting into a cloud of happiness. Char siu never looked so sexy. - Traditional Chinese Salt-Baked Free-Range Chicken: If chickens had a spa day, this is what they'd look like after. Tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor, this chicken is so good, it's probably the reason why the phrase "winner winner chicken dinner" was coined. - Fresh Whole Sea Perch with Bones with Dried Tangerine Peel and Douchi: Dive into a sea of flavors with this dish! Plus, picking through those delicate bones feels like a culinary treasure hunt. - Mapo Tofu with Lobster: I hate how much I loved this. Silky tofu meets crunchy lobster in an actually spicy sauce that doesn't skimp on flavor. $68 is painful, but it hurts more not trying this. - Beef Brisket with Turnip in Clear Broth: Like a warm hug on a cold day. The beef melts in your mouth, and the broth tastes like Fri evenings with mom. - Snow Pea Leaves with Chanterelle: Crisp, vibrant snow pea leaves paired with earthy chanterelle mushrooms--it's a green dream come true! - Stir-Fried String Bean with Minced Pork and Kale Borecole: A classic for a reason, and Yao's is generous. - Fried Rice with Scallops and XO Sauce: Flavorful and perfectly cooked. - Fried Rice with Diced Angus Short Rib: Also flavorful and perfectly cooked. I'm not sure which fried rice was my favorite, TBH. - Pumpkin Cake: Yes, we desserted. This cake oozed sweet egg yolk that made me want to cry, it was so tasty. - Sesame Ball with Red Bean Paste: Another classic for a reason. You get five balls in this order, so it's perfect for sharing. Not too oily either. - Custard Pastry in a Swan Shape: Get this just for the 'gram. But also, it's actually quite crispy and delightful. Fly, my pretties, fly right into my mouth! - Portuguese Egg Custard Tart: Yao's best dish, bar none, and quite possibly the best egg tart in all of NYC. Made fresh every day and already their most popular dessert. My Macanese grandma would not only have approved, she would've ordered 12 more to take home. I didn't want to love Yao because, let's face it, "elevated" Chinese food almost always subs presentation for flavor, but Yao managed to avoid that for the most part while providing a gorgeously modern dining experience.“
“Have been here about 5 or 6 times and have never had a bad experience. The food is amazing fresh and comes out quick. Love going during happy hour having some drinks and food and the portions are nice size. I recommend trying the house fried rice.“
“Got the eggplant dish and a bowl of rice, and it was fantastic! There was no wait on a Friday night at 7pm for two. Food came out quick and it was plenty for me and my friend. We had a Broadway show to catch and it worked out well since it’s close to Times Square. All the staff are very friendly and can provide good recommendations as well. There are plenty of vegetarian options. There is one bathroom.“
“Best Chinese food. Service is decent. But be prepared for the waiters. Don't feel offended if the waiters doesn't smile. That's just the way they're is part of their charm. The place is a bit loud when full of guests, but it's bearable.“
“I enjoyed my meal here after a long day of business meetings. I was by myself though, and it seemed like the restaurant was more accomodating to parties of two or more. At any rate, the food came to my table piping hot, and my mixed cocktail was wonderful. This was right across the street from my hotel, so easy access and then head to my overnight stay. Beef and vegetables were quite good.“
“We stopped by for lunch and ended up getting some roast pork and chicken. The meat was good and juicy, and it was also a bigger portion size than the place up the block that all the tourists waited in a long line for. Seating is available and cash only.“
“Walking up from the subway to this place made me so exhausted. Didn’t realise it has two tables only. Someone gave us her seat so I can recover. French toast is really Hong Kong style. The milk tea is better than a few other places that we have tried. I will try the rice dishes in the future.“
“The food is still pretty good but there’s a slightly different taste like there’s a new chef who altered the recipes. More notably the custard in the sesame balls is just a small cube with a bunch of empty space around, instead of filling the inside like before.“
“Looking for the best bang for your buck? This place is the perfect Asian restaurant. Good portion, service wasn’t bad (surprisingly) and we didn’t wait long for our food. They have a lunch special which consisted of noodles (horfun, lo mein) and rice for under $10 and tea was included. There was not expectation on tipping - of course we tipped anyway and they totally deserved it.There’s one thing I think they could improve on is the horfun - some parts of the noodles were cold otherwise it was cooked well.“
“Taking a bite from Wah Fung's roasted pork and duck rice plate quite literally changed my life. I had never had something so delicious, fresh, and perfectly spiced and sauced. I came to Wah Fung on a Wednesday afternoon while doing an NYC Chinatown food crawl. I was slightly scared when I arrived and there was a line out the door. However, I was in the store within 10-15 minutes where I was greeted by the sight of hanging meats and the smells of aromatic spices. After analyzing the different combinations of plates that I could choose from, I opted for a roasted pork and duck plate that also came with rice and cabbage and only cost $8.50. I wanted a variety of meats and so this was a great choice for me. The roasted pork was so incredibly tender and the duck was crispy and juicy. The sauce that they use to top off the plate kept every component of the plate moist and tasty. I highly recommend this plate for anyone who loves meat and is looking for some delicious food in Chinatown.“
