The Chester is a staple for Game Day, after work drink, or simply a spontaneous middle of the week lunch. With both indoor and outdoor seating, you can choose either a lively setting or a relaxing one outside. At the time we came, the waiters came around after a few minutes. The menu features several American favorites with an upscale edge! The food was aesthetically pleasing and satisfying with large portion sizes. Our favorite was the Steak Frites and Sriracha wings! The steak was so juicy and flavorful without having to smother it in sauce. The wings gave us adequate protein to hold us over until our main meals, yet they were so light and tasty in the sriracha sauce. I loved how I didn't have to ask for extra dressing on the pear salad, but there were a lot of raisins and the pears looked a little too much like raw chicken! Despite this, the salad was still really enjoyable and a great leafy addition to all the meat.

They brought half full cider and beer bottles and cold espresso that seems like somene drank before or they did not wash the cup. Very sad experience.

The Chester. If you want a stuck up bar with poor tvs you came here. Can barely see the game the cocktails are ridiculous and the air temp sucks. Think again.

Me and my best friend were celebrating her birthday. We came from out of state. The experience began rocky. We were ignored and rushed. We still stayed around because we tried to stay in good spirits. Our first waiter rushed us to to close out and informed us that another person would take care of us. After some time, with no service, we decided to speak with the manager on duty to give some feedback. We understand that staff maybe busy however we deserve to at least to be checked on. Especially on my friends special day. Donnie, the manager was SO amazing. He offered his sinceres apology and took care of us. Our experience was delightful at the end. We appreciated it so much! We will be back!

Donnie, the general manager, is the nicest guy ever. We came here for my birthday and the service initially was not great and we gave him our feedback. He was very receptive and listened to what we had to say. He was very apologetic and so sweet. I’ll be back just because of how he handled the situation!

overall, our experience was a 2.5 out of 5. we arrived on time for our reservation, and were sat immediately. it took about 20 minutes for a server to come over. we then ordered drinks and entrées where the entrées came out almost 50 minutes later. The drinks were good and the food was good it was just unfortunate how long it took us to get our food. Our server was really nice don't get me wrong. We were just disappointed on how long everything was taking and we were there for a total of 2 hours.

The atmosphere was ok, like a typical bar anywhere. The staff didn’t seem too cheerful and happy really. The worst part was the bill. For an average place we paid $22 for a cocktail but the bill came to $40.20 which means a glass of beer came to $18.20. That’s insane and the most expensive beer I’ve had in NYC. Then they expect you to pay for their staff on top rather than give them a decent wage.

My company hosted a department Christmas party at The Chester - We had the BEST time and the food was great! Gabriella was our contact for the event and was so helpful, friendly, and made sure everything went smoothly. If you are looking to plan an event here, she's your girl!

Lousy and totally over rated place. Took 30 min to get a drink and the waitress had to go back three times to get it right for water, one drink and a glass of red wine. The wine was primitive and served in a water tumbler but the best was that the waitress noted to us that it was full of cork and if we were fine with that? Come on! Suggest a name change to "Jester" instead of Chester. Cannot recommend at all

Disgraceful profiteering! We paid $40.20 for two drinks. The cocktail $22 and a glass of beer which one can only assume was $18.20! Then they expect you to ‘tip’ (basically pay for their staff) on top. Shocking. An average bar with the highest price I’ve paid since I’ve been in NYC

I went to the Chester this weekend with a group of 4 of my friends and cannot emphasize how bad this service was. I never write reviews, but this restaurant prompted one. First we were very poorly greeted by a man we didn't realize worked there (not that serious, it happens). But we sit down and the wait staff was painful to deal with. We were initially one of two tables in the restaurant and as it began to fill, could not get the waitress’ attention for an hour to place our order. She kept running past our table and disregarding us. So for reference, our reservation was at 9:15, we placed our food order at 10:15, checked on it multiple times, and at 11:15 when the food hadn’t come out yet and we had to leave. The waitress was attentive enough to cancel our order. But we left the restaurant hungry and now in a rush to grab a hot dog across the street. On top of that, the restaurant automatically added a 20% gratuity (which in my opinion, was undeserved). Absolutely do not recommend going here unless you’re willing to waste a lot of time.
