The drinks were made well. Very enjoyable. Table service was quick. But does require you to tip 20% for table service even though submitting order directly through online system. At the end of the night the table next to ours broke a glass. When we were leaving we told the bartenders trying to give them a heads up but instead of being appreciative of it they just rolled their eyes and coughed a snarky remark.

I love coming to this spot when I'm in the area & don't want to end the night yet but want something more casual with a high chance of having a seat. Top 40s music.

Love me a good cocktail bar. When you get a whisky sour. Always make sure to add an egg white.

Randomly stumbled upon this gem last weekend on a Sat, 2/17. Got here around 6pm and left around 10p. The traffic picked up between 8-9p. All the bartenders were professional and friendly. But CJ Is by far the best and my favorite bartender. He makes a great French 75. He made sure I was well taken care of. I came alone so whenever I stepped away he would cover my drink for me. He made sure that I understood how to order from Dickensons (Chelsea Marker) next door. I lost my AirPod and CJ went above and beyond to retrieve it for me. Give this man a raise seriously! For his excellent customer service. The ambiance was dim lit and intimate setting with plants surrounding. Very spacious. Music was throwback r&b for the most. Will return. Highly recommend this place!

I'm going to write a positive review so I don't get antagonized at work like my last job (ifykyk). But this place is actually great! Come here often after work and the vibes are great and drinks are good as well.

The drinks are made top notch quality. However, the hostess was very rude. She came up to us and said hello and I said hi how are you doing. Just being friendly. And she said what? Looking perplexed. I responded oh I asked how are you? And she continued to look confused and then talked to the person I was with, completely ignoring me. As a person who’s worked retail, maybe she had an off day, maybe the music was too loud, or maybe she could have asked me to clarify and been a mature, professional hostess who makes their customers feel comfortable and acknowledged.

Not a good experience. Ordered a drink at the bar and couldn't hear the bartender so asked him to repeat. Bartender proceeds to roll his eyes in front of me. What a horrible attitude. Is this how you treat your customers? The bar wasn't even busy. This was the taller of the 2 bartenders on January 11, around 10-11pm.

When we first heard about The Tippler, it was pre-pandemic and was still a speakeasy where you had a password to get in. During a trip to Manhattan, we went through the “secret entrance” in the Chelsea Market, but the bar was closed and wouldn’t open for several hours, so it became a “next time” destination. No longer a speakeasy, the street entrance is marked with an “Open” sign, so at this point, it’s really just an underground bar at the Chelsea Market. Which is fine, but I think a big part of the draw was the speakeasy experience. We thought the bar opened at 4:00, but when we got there around 4:20 we were told it wasn’t open until 5:00. The bouncer was rather rude about it, and very unfriendly. We had been in the Chelsea Market already, so took a quick hop up to The Highline to wait. At about 4:58 we went back, and the bouncer again told us the bar wasn’t open and we couldn’t wait by the door - it was rather cold out, there wasn’t a crowd, we weren’t being rowdy - and again, he was extremely rude about it. So we went back up to the street to wait two minutes. There was another couple up there who had likewise been treated rudely. When the door opened, we went in and got a table. From then on the experience was really great. The waitress was friendly and attentive, and the old fashioned was one of the best I’ve had. We loved the vibe and the interior, and overall just had a really great time while we were there. I’m sure it gets very crowded during peak times, but we really enjoyed having a table and a little space. Despite the poor introductory experience from the bouncer, I recommend giving it a try - just make sure to get there AFTER it officially opens!

We hosted a private event. Angela was fantastic to work with and the space offered a great layout and atmosphere for what we were seeking. Bar is large enough to spread the crown and we had a good split of seating and standing area.
