I have always liked Victor's Cafe and frequent this location for special occasions with my family. On the most recent visit, I was disappointed. I ordered "Ropa Vieja " with sweet plantains and the food came out of the kitchen cold. I asked the Server for it to be heater up and he was very apologetic, took it to the kitchen and returned about 5 minutes later with the same cold sweet plantains.

Food was good, expensive considering the small portions. Service was extremely slow and curt, which diminished the experience for me.

Victor s Cafe is by far one of the best restaurants in NYC. From the friendly staff to the oustanding food n drinks. Met with a few old n dear friends of mine. No better place to meet than one of my favorite restaurants. The waiters Darwin and Carlos (Charlie); were friendly , attentive, pleasant, efficient and so willing to make sure we had an excellent dining experience .Continuously checking on us and making sure all was well. The food was amazing; the drinks were phenomenal. We ordered a pitcher of both ; white and red Sangria. We were all pleased with the dishes we ordered. From Sea bass and Shrimp dishes; to Pernil(pork) and Ropa vieja (shredded beef). The flavor was on point and all the food was eaten. Empty plates from all 4parties. The chef Jose Luis was kind enough to come out to our table and we were able to personally thank him for a job well done. My friends will definitely be back to Victors Cafe. They will as well refer people they know to come and try some good food s ; whenever in NYC. A reservation is something I would suggest for it gets pretty crowded. The atmosphere / ambiance is wonderful and a place you would be happy to have been able to experience. I have been coming to Victor s cafe for years and truly it’s a place that doesn’t disappoint.Enjoy your visit there; an experience you will most certainly remember. Last but not least; order the sampler for appetizer. It will give you a taste and variety of different and delicious foods.

Food was excellent. The service was excellent. Mojitos were excellent, although they should serve pitchers. Why not? They do pitchers of Sangria, why not mojitos? The reason I had to drop them to a 3 for the overall rating is because they messed up something close to my heart. What Cuban place doesn't get the cafe con leche right? After a great meal, we ordered cafe con leche and dessert. The cafe con leche came pretty quickly, but the dessert didn't come until 10 minutes later!! Why wouldn't you serve that together!? To top it off, the cafe con leche wasn't hot. It was barely room temperature. It tasted good, but it should have been hot, and I shouldn't have had to eat my espresso flan without being able to sip on my hot cafe con leche. I had to drink it before the dessert came, or it would have been even colder than it was served. It kind of ruins an entire meal when it ends on a bad note, no matter how good the food was.Maybe I'll go back, but it's a shame for a place that has been around this long to get something like dessert and coffee wrong.

I’ve been to Victor’s Cafe over the years and last Saturday was the last time I would go. We had a reservation for 6pm and weren’t seated until 20 minutes after our reservation. They had live music but it could barely be heard in the dining room. They advertise on Instagram that they have live music but fail to disclose it is not in the dining room. It was my father’s birthday and he wanted to listen to live music so that ruined part of the evening. We ordered the croquetas corral and they came burnt. The Ponle Ropa a la Vaca was not worth it at all. I felt completely ripped off when I saw how little food was served compared with the price. The vaca was dry as well. The Paella de Mariscos was good enough for two people despite the waiter saying it was for one person. This was the only dish we enjoyed. The waiter barely checked in us and to get dessert ordered it took forever. We had to tell multiple people we wanted to order dessert and get the check. They didn’t even acknowledge my father’s birthday which I indicated on my reservation.

Excellent cocktails, the service was great. Seafood paella was recommended and did not disappoint. Excellent flavours. Live music by the bar area was nice to listen to while we had drinks and waited for our table.

Had a nice dinner with exceptionally good service, specifically from a waitstaff named Shante. She deserves 5 stars. The mojitos were quite good, but for $18 I would say that they we're not worth it. The interior is pleasant and has some nice colors. The back room seemed to have great energy, even on a very rainy day. The only thing I didn't like was that I got the Pollo Manigua, recommended by male waiter, who was also nice. It incredibly good, but I would call it a rip-off. Only because they simply don't give enough chicken.

One of my favorites in midtown. Good spot to get a quick bite and a decent mojito before a Broadway show.
