A friend told me about this place, so I figured I try it out, you never know. Fish mongers are rare up here, mostly supermarket fish counters with their IQF offerings from the other side of the planet. It's in an odd location; across from a scrap iron place and not much else. This is what it was like going to an old fashioned fish monger, back in the old neighborhood. The first thing you notice is, and this is an excellent sign - No Fish smell. If you go some place and encounter a fishy aroma; run away! The store is pristine. The owner is very cordial and knowledgeable about his seafood. He can even give you ideas and recipes. There are several fillets and whole fish in the case. He regularly goes to the Bronx Terminal Market for his fish and seafood. Tip: if the fish are covered in ice and not in between plastic wrap and the ice; the fillets get water logged. Do you want to pay for water?! Saw a package of 6 stuffed clams for $7.95; albeit they were frozen I thought I give them a try. Most places it's all bread crumbs, a splash of clam juice, and maybe a tiny piece of clam per stuffed clam; if you're lucky. These are chunks of clam and some bread crumbs. This is as close as you would make at home. You actually bite into clams, with each delicious morsel. At $1.33 a clam, you can't make them at home, for that price. Plus, there's no work or clean up before you enjoy them. Next time I'm bringing the cooler and blue ice.

Good place in the middle of the wasteland area of Newburgh. Like a. Old school butcher shop except with seafood. Really cool old walk-in fridge. We picked up salmon and shrimp to grille on the Barbie. The shrimp was excellent. The salmon fresh caught. They are a bit of a drive for us but next time we're in the area will definitely stop in again.

Found this gem! Sea bass and red snapper are our favorite so far. Always fresh seafood and the market is clean. Old world charm and the owner & staff are so friendly and helpful. Not sure what to do with the catch, just ask. They offer great suggestions on how to prepare and enjoy every fish or seafood they sell. Shrimp, scallops, salmon... great quality to choose from but get there early!! Frozen catch like crab, shellfish and such are available as well. Will be here more often.
