Attentive and timely and the kids loved chatting with him and complimenting their experience as well. We made sure to clean up our destruction from the table and made sure to tip extra because a party of 8 with 4 kids is tough. (Let that be a note for other customers!) “Old school here, Oval Craft is in one of the former barracks on the base and still has some home-style furnishings. And no, they don't have wifi.

That said, there beer is excellent. My "Oval Lite" was delicious, served cold and a full pint. I sat for an hour or so with the laptop on my hotspot in one of the side rooms where I could still see down to the regulars and tourists at the bar. It was a time well spent.”

“We had the chef cook in front of us. The shrimp tempura appetizer was the best I have had in a while. The batter was extremely crisp and crunchy. The steak and shrimp on the grill were very flavorful. The dipping sauces supplied were a bit different and disappointing. I wouldn't particularly call them Japanese sauces. As is typical, the staff were definitely not Japanese. The chefs appeared to be Korean. The fried rice was just rice cooked in butter and soy sauce, with a couple of eggs thrown in.”

As a Montreal tourist we mostly knew about Texas Roadhouse but we needed to change that.

We found the Butcher Block, a family owned steakhouse. We ordered too much food but everything looked good so we couldn't resist.

I had the ravioli. There was way too much oil in the bottom of my ramekin.
Eternal refills of soda.

Great salad bar too. It is smaller than what we can find elsewhere but what is served is great quality soup,salad,bread. Everything tastes great. Less is more.

Will go back I want to try everything.”

Their cheesecakes have been my staple birthday cake of choice since well before they relocated to South Peru street . The Australian tea cake is famous for a good reason . They have the best cakes, cookies , donuts and pastries and I can't imagine anything being less than spectacular . Rambachs is an absolute must if you like delicious baked treats.”

“2/5/25 Hadn't been to The Pepper in probably 4 or 5 years until tonight. Always use to order my fave Shrimp and Chorizo Quesadillas. They were always scrumptious with bold bright flavors, tasting each ingredient separately which enhanced every bite. Until tonight. I was so excited to re-experience them. They were terrible! They were crap! Gone were the individual flavors of delicate plump shrimp, spicy zingy moist chorizo morsels, tangy melted cheese, and light flakey shells disappointingly replaced with 4 wedges of tough bland cardboard drizzled with a now lackluster crema. What in Hell happened to them? A side note, it is STILL cold in there. The heaters do not help! We had to keep our coats on. And lastely, the chairs are SO uncomfortable and the decor tired. The Pepper could be so much more. P.S. the salsa the gets served initially with chips is raunchy, ingredients way too large, color is brownish from too much cumin or chili powder or ?”
