“Very impressed since they was decorating the place. I was passing by every day till they finally open and I desire to try the food, I was curious and also I’m not a vegan person. When I finally try that food I just got in shock. Super tasty, delicious, the Trinidad and Dominican Republic flavors- was so down the earth. So thankful to have them at the neighborhood, the service is excellent and Yesenia and her employees super professionals. The ambiance and decoration soo relaxing- I love the food and the service, how they welcome you, is hard to find a place like that. Highly recommended to everyone- vegan or not vegan- 🥗 the talent is there and I wish them success- nice location, sparkling clean - if you are looking for good food - this is your spot-”

Apparently there's a 2 hr gap between brunch and dinner. The booking site allowed for a 4pm reservation. When we arrived we were accommodated but looked at funny. Mikado 116-09 Metropolitan Ave, Queens Japanese • $$

“I'll try to keep this to the point —

I gave Food/Service/Atmosphere 5 🌟 because they were on par for me. For a local spot, this really took me by surprise.

What I ordered:

Miso Soup:
Standard Miso Soup, nothing groundbreaking, but very tasty. Would have loved a tad more tofu & scallion, but that's just me.

Salmon Avocado Hand roll:
Not the hand roll I expected meaning it wasn't in the cone shape I'm familiar with, but it came presented like a taco with the seaweed as the shell. Salmon cuts were huge, and with great colour, avocado was bright & ripe, coupled with the perfect amount of rice. Everything tasted clean, and fresh.

Yellowtail Jalapeno Nigiri:
I messed up with this, originally I wanted a sushi roll, but my brain flubbed. Great mistake though, because the yellowtail was delicious, practically melted in my mouth, topped with a delicate cut of jalapeno on top.

Love Milk Tea:
Honestly, just a really delicious milk tea topped with osmanthus flower. It was light, refreshing, and not too sweet thankfully.

Wagyu Tataki:
Tataki is meant to be briefly seared on the outside, but the center remains raw. Was this seared to the degree I wanted? No. But, was it delicious? Yes. And the meat was incredibly tender, flavour of the sauces really complimented everything on the plate.

I finished off with a matcha cheesecake to go, I'm sure it'll be good.

With tip, I spent $67

Again, for a local spot in Richmond Hill/Kew Gardens, I was thoroughly impressed and satisfied. Personally, with slight adjustments, these folks would do great in midtown. I spent a little under what I would spend at a restaurant in the city, and got an incredibly satisfying meal, and left full.”

“How is it possible that I didn’t review 4747lic here before?!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Every time I go there for weekend brunch, I have to return for dinner! I just can’t get enough of the place. Their Dutch baby “Primadonna” pancake and lobster roll are to die for. Much of what is on the menu it’s imported from Italy of the finest ingredients. It’s always fun to take the ferry across from Manhattan to the Pepsi Cola Sign and walk a couple of blocks. They can accommodate large groups, children, pets, wheelchairs, (you name it) at their outdoor seating. Run there. 😊💕”

“Delicious and affordable skewers. It takes a while for them to cook the skewers if you order in person but it is possible to contact them ahead of time for pickup. They have a few stools and a table set up if you want to sit and eat, however seating is very limited. Lamb is the best meat option for the skewers as it has the perfect amount of fatty bits that melt in your mouth. The meat is cooked to perfection and every bite is pleasant. Also, do not sleep on their vegetarian options either! I highly recommend the mushroom skewers. It is a line of emoki mushrooms with an addictive sweet and savory sauce. Best to get your order spicy! I find it to be not very spicy at all, just a light peppery tingle.”

“I did enjoy the food at Hellbender, but the service could have been better.
We were among the first guests seated, yet it still took about 5–8 minutes for our server to notice us and bring water.

The portion size of aguachile is quite small, considering the price. The Brussels sprouts lacked flavor.

On the positive side, the empanada was amazing, as were the mushroom tacos and fried cheese.

Update: The brunch menu is so good and tasty. The service was much better than our previous visit.”

In restaurant business, things need to be consistent, too bad no restaurants are really like this. Because people change up all the time. One little thing can change A LOT in food prep/cooking. “Landed in the JFK airport, which is located in southside Jamaica Queens, and I was starving! I was looking for some places nearby with good ratings even though I don’t trust all the Google reviews, but this place was a 4.9 for that much reviews, somethings got to be up. Before I order the gentleman was nice enough to offer samples of jerk, chicken, and house special chicken, and they both were delicious so we ordered both
Jerk Chicken- had a hint of sweetness with the jerk spice, didn’t taste traditional, but I still enjoyed it and Wood ordered it again especially for someone who doesn’t want too much jerk heat
House Special Chicken- best way to describe this is it taste like mild hot sauce with curry seasoning, what a wonderful mix, that’s not forget the diced tomatoes, onions, cucumbers (kind of reminded me of pico de gallo minus the cucumbers) which was a refreshing balance to the mild heat of the dish, comforted by the bed of basmati yellow rice, ordered the avocado with it as well because I knew it was going to set it off!
Jerk Chicken Tacos- clever twist, luckily this was considered a side dish for me because I can eat this in two bites
Fried Chicken Quesadilla- my daughter had this, but she couldn’t finish so I decided to have the honors to finish it for her, as simple as this dish sounds, it’s not, the quesadilla was perfectly crisp, and the fried chicken itself was so buttery and crunchy, you could tell they changed their fryer oil on the regular or they use some type of special oil because I felt less guilty from the clean taste
Sauces - I forgot what they were, but one was like chipotle, the other one was like honey mustard with a touch of mango (I could be mistaken, but do yourself a favor and pour this on the chicken quesadilla), last, but not least the cilantro lime, which I drought everything with
Ladies and gentlemen, these people have earned their 4.9 stars and should be five, everything they can cooked is with effort and I’m glad they save my starvation, so when you get off the airport and you like Halal food, this is where you go!”

4.6 Superb128 Reviews

“Here’s a polished, clearer, and more composed version of your review while keeping the strong sentiment and message intact:

This place is nowhere near authentic Cuban cuisine — not even if it were sitting right next to Havana. What they call Ropa Vieja is basically just beef stew. There’s absolutely no understanding of Cuban culture, flavors, or hospitality, which makes sense considering they are not Cuban.

When you ask for something as basic and traditional as moro to go with Ropa Vieja, they act like it’s an unusual request and explain that it’s not included. Their “solution” is to mix watered‑down black beans with white rice and whatever else they decide to throw in. It’s not even close.

The décor doesn’t help either. A few cigar boxes here and there, but most of it is Santa Muerte imagery — so, as you can guess, not Cuban at all. I don’t fault anyone for trying, but don’t advertise something you clearly don’t know how to make. Even something as simple and essential as hoja de laurel — bay leaf — is missing entirely, both in sight and in flavor.

Overall, it feels like a place run by young people without the cultural background or culinary knowledge to deliver what they’re selling.

If you want, I can also rewrite it in a more formal, humorous, or sharper tone.”

“Staff are very nice! Fish portions feel a little small but presentation was fantastic. The shrimp + uni, scallop, miso fish (don't remember what it was called), and oyster to start was the best. Very nice of them to give us a mochi dessert on the house at the end! Only other con was that the food court got a little loud at the end.”

“Juan at Cotto at the LGA terminal C location was very attentive while visiting the terminal on our way back home from our NYC visit. It’s the airport so it’s a little more than if you got it somewhere else but I was very happy with the meatball Parmesan and the wedge salad my wife and I got as well as the Long Island iced tea. It’s New York and is not Burger King and you get what you pay for. They were all very good here. Juan was able to happily accommodate getting a little side of extra marinara sauce for my wife’s sandwich. Was a very pleasant experience and I highly recommend. Enjoyed our visit.”

There was a large party upriver where items were released. Most of the items didn’t make it to our side. We tried placing orders instead. Each seat has a screen to use for ordering drinks or food. The plates were made promptly and delivered but appeared smaller than the regular ones on the belt.
Ramen noodles was good but came in a very small portion like cup noodles size. This is good for the ones concerned with calories.

In restaurant business, things need to be consistent, too bad no restaurants are really like this. Because people change up all the time. One little thing can change A LOT in food prep/cooking.
