This 8-seat chef's kitchen is tucked behind the Little Banchan Shop. From the moment that the hostess popped open the discrete paneled door and we entered the peaceful hallway, we slipped out of the hustle of NYC and entered the serene world of Meju. The food was delicious--we tasted multiple sauces including a 120+ year old soy sauce, and some cuts of meat literally dissolved in my mouth. A speakeasy-like entrance takes you to an intimate and educational Korean dinner party. Each course was prepared fresh before delivery and the origins of natural fermentation processes were explained.Flavors were elevated from any Korean food experience I’ve had before.Service and ambiance were amazing and well balanced. One of the best meal experiences there is. From the intimate dinner party setting to an extremely interactive chef who wants you to engage with him and feel as if you are at his home. There was not a detail from the art to each bite of food to the service and beverage pairings that was not intentional and deliberate.
