Great cantonese restaurant. Banquet style food and large selection of seafood. A little pricey but you can find budget friendly options on the menu.

Wan Chai's semi-recent closing a few months back signals the continuing trend of Cantonese restaurants dropping off in Flushing. Change is a constant in NYC and businesses of all kinds are privy to all sorts of sudden surprises. It's a bit alarming seeing grand Canto spots go into the dust. I've had both stellar and subpar experiences here. The latter is mainly service related, but the former was almost always banquet style food. The good times are usually a combination of great company and food. Wan Chai did a pretty good job for family style gathering and the food presentation was always on par. Prices were always a bit on the high side for me, but I know they stressed the quality for all of their dishes. And for the most part, I will miss them. I appreciated the nod to the Hong Kong hood and liked the space that they were in. I realize the new space now belongs to the King Crab House ( yelp.com/biz/kisSrOTu8AE… ), and I wish the new tenants a whole lot of luck.

This place sucks so much. First, off the food is over priced. Second, the workers uniform looks ridiculous. Third, the food serves such small portion. The food doesn't even taste as good as the other seafood places I've been to..The area is just too crowded. The seats shouldn't be so close to the wall decorations, and they're all glass Vases.. really? They should rearrange the stuffs more properly. This place is just everything wrong. Disappointedly Fail.

This place is located on prince st. In flushing. The restaurant is clean and modern. The food is cheap during lunch time. This is a Cantonese restaurant. Don't order the fried flounder during lunch, it's mostly bones. Dinner is a bit expensive.

At it's grand opening up until my favorite cook left, this place was on fire, any Cantonese dish I ordered was satisfying to superb in its quality. Therefore it rated in my book **** to ****1/2, today at *** this is far from the original recipes. If you enjoy this place please visit now, like I mean today, do not delay. I cannot guarantee that the present cook will not be sent out somewhere. Mark my words. Great old style cooks are becoming increasingly a rarity. Doesn't make sense to have the top Chef and then not whilst in downtown Flushing. Thanks for the great times that we shared.

Cuisine: 8 Service: 6 Decor: 9 Value: 8 Overall: 8 Just opened three days ago, this restaurant has the same ownership group as a few other Flushing restaurants, including Iki Modern Japanese Cuisine and Pho Best. Similar to those two restaurants, you will notice the ambiance right away. It starts with a large golden emperor's throne as you walk into the room, which has maybe 20 tables of various sizes, adorned in shiny golden table clothes and royal blue cloth napkins. Hanging overhead are beautiful red lanterns and the wall has shelves showcasing colorful Chinese vases. I really like the unique design and color scheme that felt modern and regal. As the name suggests, this restaurant focuses on seafood, especially king crab. On this night, two of us ordered Steamed Abalone in XO Sauce, Steamed Langoustines with Minced Garlic, Ginger & Scallion Dungeness Crab, and Snow Pea Leaves. Honestly, all the food was cooked impeccably, but there was a little problem. Our abalone was steamed with minced garlic instead of XO sauce, and the server gave our crab to the table next to us, while giving us their steamed version over noodles. In the end, we didn't change out any of the food and the manager gave us a small discount on the bill. He was aware of the mistakes and promise that the service will improve over time. I will give them the benefit of the doubt since the servers were relatively friendly. Prices are quite reasonable for this type of seafood restaurant, with their namesake king crab priced at only $36/lb regardless of size. Most other Flushing restaurants will charge around $45 per pound for king crabs, or cost less but add a 30% cooking charge like Lulu's Seafood. My only question is how long will this low price be around. If you want to catch it before the inevitable price increase, be prepared for the somewhat rookie service and go get cracking.

Boys wanted to have Cantonese style Chinese food. I wanted a roomy environment. Somehow this Saturday there was no lunch special. So we ordered dinner menu. Among the dishes: green veggie, salty egg tofu, Bi fong tong clam. I enjoyed eggplant with short rib the most. Food presentation, atmosphere, service and price is same as my previous review here.

The food and taste here is inconsistent. last month it was great - tasteful - came back this past weekend and the food was very salty. I was drinking tea non-stop and drank two glasses of orange juice to quench the thirst. they also got the orders wrong; sent us something we didn't order and cooked the vegetables the wrong way. I don't think we will be coming back here for a very long time.

I came here just to grab a quick lunch for one. My nanny agency is down the street so I come to this area often but never thought to step in to grab food cause it doesn't look like I can eat for one person. But I was wrong. They have a great lunch special for $6.75. A long list of Chinese traditional dishes. This is not your fast food Chinese dish. These are the real deal. And still super fast so if you are in a rush don't worry about it they will make it for you in 5 mins. They bring out the tea and a complementary soup. No not some cheap msg egg drop soup. They give you this amazing chicken feet soup with veggies. It's healthy and not over salty. I would order that soup as a dish. The main dish came in 5 mins. I'm not even exaggerating. And it just is too salty. But everything about it done right. The shrimp is cooked perfectly. Tender and juicy. The egg is marbled perfectly. Not completely blended where you can still have some whites and yellow separation. The egg is slightly runny but not raw. Well done friends!!

i would give it no star If possible. i have tried this restaurant before and it was a three stars. As an Asian, i appreciate authentic Chinese food. i ordered twin lobsters with Ginger and scallion. It shpuld be a stir fried dish but it was soupy. O tried and it was tasteless. i kindly brought it to their attention and i was told not to come back. They waived the charge of that dish. Instead of being apologic or making an offer to exchange another dish , i was told to leave. Another dish was mixed veggetable, it was tasteless. i accepted that it was a new dish that i tried. I walked out with my friend leaving half of the vegg soup and most of So Call lobster dish. The restaurant manager has no manner and terrible and very confrontational. Please do not go unless u like to be demeanor by this manager.

Food was good and the service was fine. The restaurant's decor was also nice; it was brightly lit so you can see what it is that you are eating. The bathroom was very clean too and at the end of the meal there is the lightly sweet red bean soup and fruit salad which was nice.

This is some of the best authentic Cantonese food you can find in Flushing. Parking is a pain but the food is worth it. Definitely recommend!
