Food good. Not great. What took me by surprise was the lack of basics. Usually in a Chinese restaurant one would receive tea and at least a fortune cookie. No where to be seen. Requested a side of fried rice to be added to the order. No fried rice side, only the entree. Moving on, service good and prompt.

We had dinner her recently and were very happy with our entrees. My spouse had orange beef which had more orange flavor than most restaurants we frequent. I had Shrimp Pad Thai that was also very good, However somehow they were out of cucumber salad! We ate at the talieend of the traditional dinner hour (7:30) and the restaurant was not crowded but it took a long time to get out drink order - we could see it sitting up on the bar for over 5 minutes. I'd go again despite the slow service.

We are frequent diners at the Red Sun for both lunch and dinner. This past weekend we tooks friends there for dinner who had never been to the Red Sun. First of all the atmosphere is great, warm and inviting. The staff, always attentive, polite and helpful. Most importantly, the food. We have NEVER had a disappointing meal at Red Sun. On this occassion we ordered salad wraps and edamame as appetizers and followed this with 3 vegetarian main courses. An assortment of sushi preceded the appetizers from the adjoining Sakura. Portion sizes are significant, always cooked to perfection and served hot, right out of the wok. On previous occassions we have enjoyed seafood, chicken and meat main courses and amazingly, all are uniquely flavored and perfectly prepared. If you enjoy Chinese food then the Red Sun is a must go-to location. Stay away from the mega Chinese buffets and have the Red Sun prepare a fabulous Chinese meal for you.

There menu was a)uninspiring and b) a bit on the high side for chinese food. The hot and sour soup was delicious. Our meals (lemoin chicken and ma-po tofu) came out quickly and were both hot and tasty. With all the Asian food in town, htere are plenty of options with a more varied menu and better prices.

We dined in and had lettuce cups, orange chicken and Philip steak. Totally amazing. The steak was just melt in your mouth. Service was friendly and prompt. Wine list was really good too.

This is the fifth or sixth time I have visited this great restaurant and every time I enjoy it more. The service is second to none!!! The prices are reasonable!! And the food....what can I say? It is the best I have had in Rochester!!!!

Ever since our local (Brighton) Chinese Restaurant got too big for their britches, disappointing us with poor service and mediocre food, we've been looking to find another one in Brighton. And I believe we found it. The Red Sun Chinese Restaurant on Monroe avenue right behind the Sakura Japanese Restaurant. We made reservations for a Friday night (which proved unnecessary). We were particularly attracted to the idea that they had live music on Friday and Saturday nights, that proved not to be the case on our particular Friday Evening. The bar and dining room were quite attractive with what I would call a more modern Chinese theme in the rooms decorations. The bar area was reasonably large but vacant the night we were there. The dining room was not crowded with tables and only two patrons dining at the time. We immediately sat at the bar as is our custom when we go out to dinner. A Young lady standing behind the bar immediately gave us her attention and began to set us up for dinner with menus and napkins. We said that we were going to have drinks at the bar and eat at a table. I got confused when the young lady said that our waiter would come and get our drink order. I asked if there was not a bartender and she explained that the waiter would serve our drinks. Well Okay!?! A gentleman by the name of Mark came shortly thereafter and took our drink order. Mark was a great bartender/waiter. He stayed on top of our drinks and offered us the best tasting crackers and sweet sauce I've ever had in a Chinese restaurant. I could have just eaten those sweet/salty crackers for dinner. When we were ready to be seated at a table Mark told us we could move the bar tab to our dinner tab. Great idea, not many restaurants do that. Mark seated us at a table furthest from the bar, which I appreciated very much. We placed our orders. I had the Fried Rice with Chicken, Pork and Shrimp. My GF had three appetizers as her dinner and I cannot remember the names of them. Our diners were served in very good time and the portions were huge. I immediately noticed that my Fried Rice was served steaming hot. I like hot food when its served. All in all our dinners were of generous portions and very very good. I was a bit taken back when our bill arrived that it was a very costly dinner, but then again our bar tab was included in the bill, so perhaps that was to be expected. Our overall impression was that we had a great dining experience. Our server Mark was great! The decor of the Red Sun was genuinely appealing and the food was delicious. Yes! We will be going back!
Beautifully appointed but the food was a disappointment. The staff is nice. A bit pricey. Smaller establishments in the hood have better Asian fare.

The Restaurant is beautifully designed and has great atmosphere. The service was also very good. The prices are a little on the high side and many of the dishes do not come with Vegetables. They are meat, peppers and onions along with rice. That was a disappointment to me but something easily correctable.
