We have been coming here for over half a year and it’s our go to spot for sushi. It’s the only place outside of Manhattan where we can get fish that doesn’t cause my skin to react. The quality and preparation is ways above the local sushi joints.

Finally found a Quality sushi restaurant in Long Island worthy of being called a Japanese sushi restaurant. Sushi is excellent, service is slow and atmosphere is okay. If you are a sushi snob like me. Kuryu is the place to go authentic sushi.

Hidden gem of a restaurant sharing their space with Roslyn Seafood. I was there a few months ago but it seems like they recently just renovated. Lovely restaurant with a cozy ambiance. Our hostess/waitress greeted us and seated us immediately. My husband and I came here with our 2 kids. My husband had known beforehand that the owner/chef was previously the head chef of Nobu NYC so he already had high expectations. I however did not expect much. I ended up being pleasantly surprised. We got the 7 course omakase while our kids got several rolls to share. Food was beautifully presented. Fish was incredibly fresh and delicious. Our waitress took the time to explain each course in detail and was always on top of refilling our water or refreshing our tea so it was still hot. Great omakase without breaking the bank or having to go all the way out to NYC. We cannot recommend this place enough. You won't be disappointed!

Very overrated! The food was expensive and I don’t see why. Taste very average and sometimes below average. Service was good but the atmosphere is cold and makes you want to leave right after you finish eating.

After having two kids my husband and I rarely venture out to eat. However, we made it a point to dine here for his birthday. We went with the seven course Omakase meal. It was such a memorable experience. Every course was beautiful and exceptional. They always say you eat with your eyes first and this place definitely lives by that saying. The staff are so sweet and nice. We will definitely come back again!

Got the kuryu special for two takeout to celebrate my mom's bday. It was alot of food, we were very full by the end of it. Some pieces were better than others. Overall, we really enjoyed it. I particularly loved the salmon nigiri, pressed salmon sushi, house special roll, and the single crab sushi. My mom loved the uni. Wish there was at least two of it. The tuna pieces were mediocre. I was not a fan. And there was no chutoro or otoro. Pick up was nice and easy. But I had to change from celebrating Friday to Thursday because they don't sell the kuryu special combo for two for takeout on Fridays and theres no takeout on weekends due to being busy on those days. Its understandable; there's only one sushi chef and it's a big platter! I'm happy that I have the choice of not traveling to the city to get good sushi/omakase. And that I have the option of takeout instead of dining in. It's a welcome new addition to long Island.

The food here is spectacular. The omakase is the way to go. The uni in particular was fantastic - obviously high quality and perfectly prepared. We ordered take-out our first time but we will definitely be coming back to sit for a proper meal. Highly recommend!

I really wanted to keep this place under the radar and not write a review, but I also want them to do well and stick around. Kuryu is easy to miss bc it's within a fish market. And that also tells you how fresh the sushi is! We came for lunch and each got the $50 lunch omakase. It was such a good value! You get 8 pieces of sushi and a roll. The sushi pieces were prepared nicely and the right temperature. I can't stand when sushi is served ice cold. My favorite pieces were the scallop and uni. So sweet with no fishy taste. Service was great too. We'll be sure to be back!

Low key, high end ! Sushi in a fish market ? What ?? Well it makes sense. Delicious sushi , high end quality , this is the new hidden jewel in Roslyn , reservation recommend

The presentation was so cute for takeout. I've never seen soy sauce is these little cute squeeze bottles. The sushi was good that I didn't even need soy sauce. We texted their number and ordered the: chef special omakase Seared yellowtail box sushi Kuryu cali roll with crab Soft shell crab roll The Kuryu Cali roll had real cooked crab on the top which was pleasant. There wasn't much quantity but the quality was there. My husband enjoyed the chef special omakase. I'd definitely make reservations to dine-in in the future. Connected to the sushi bar was a seafood market which also consisted of a good amount of seafood for sale to go!

The former Sous Chef of the original Nobu downtown has moved KURYU from Brooklyn to Roslyn in Long Island and the quality has only gotten better. The $150 omakase is very filling and I loved the way everything was coursed and the quality was tops. I am sure the smaller sushi sets for $40-55 are also wonderful. Chef Teruo uses fresh local seafood from the adjoining market as well as imported from Japan. This is worth a trip from the city or if you're in Nassau county, conveniently located next to the LIE.

This place had a very unwelcoming environment. Stood at the hostess stand for 10 minutes and had to chase down the waitress to ask if they were still taking tables to be told that it was reservation only ( I called 2 hours prior and no answer to the phone) even though there was only 3 people in and there was plenty of open tables and people being served at the bar. Waitress seemed rude and unwelcoming and the sushi looks great but I don’t think the food would be good enough to make up for how poor the service was.
