“The restaurant exceeded my expectations! I went for happy hour with my sister and our waitress Maxine took such great care of us. We had no idea what to pick and she didn’t seem annoyed with our questions, she was very patient and so funny too.“
“If you are looking for amazing Jamaican food AND outstanding customer service, look no further! The owner only sells quality food and it is a family owned business. Amoya (hope I spelled it right) is mostly there serving the food whenever I go and she is an absolute pleasure to interact with. I can honestly say they serve their food with LOVE and GRACE. Money spent here is money well spent.“
“Love it here! My husband and I have been twice since discovering it a month ago. The food is really good. We’ve tried the curry goat, curry chicken, jerk chicken, and stew chicken so far. My favorite dish has to be the jerk chicken plantain cups. We also tried the culture clash and the rum punch which were both great drinks. The owner (Mo) is awesome, he’s such a friendly guy and we were engaged in conversation with him the whole time we were there on our first visit. He has great experiences to share if you have the time.“
“I called the restaurant today on my daughter’s birthday (2/26/24) to ask for a table for 5 people including two children. I was told there’s not enough seating for everyone but they would gladly accommodate us at the event space next door. I agreed. My family arrived at around 6 and the two ladies took our order and Yvonne took a few minutes to prepare the table for us. When she led us into the room we were so delighted and astounded! The place was so beautifully decorated, and she managed it in a very short time! All the food was delicious! She made my daughter feel so special, she danced with the girls and helped cut the cake! I was very lucky and blessed to have been given this wonderful memory! It was such a pleasure to meet Yvonne, she is so sweet and has such a good heart! I will definitely be back again soon!Dietary restrictions: Totally Vegan and plant based menu.Kid-friendliness: Yvonne was so sweet with my girls.“
“Omg one of the best customer service experience I have ever experienced in a HAITIAN restaurant. USUALLY I don’t like going into haitian stores because of the rudeness , but not this place, I was greeted by pops who took my order and he was just a breath of fresh air ,and amazing , great conversation , I would have ended up buying everything there if I stayed any longer lol ..he wanted me to taste everything .. from KREMAS to a taste of his macaroni .. he wanted me to try everything lol ? .. I Bought some patties and a fish lunch special .. it’s an amazing thing to have a lunch special and still get great quality food .. small fish for 20 dollars was a really good price came with rice and plantain. I love the little piece of lemon they had with my fish , it says they pay attention to little details, even with a lunch special.. my patties were properly coded since I bought a variety of different kinds. I GIVE THEM 10 starts .. food quality was great and flavorful as well. .. can’t post fish pic because by the time I wrote this review I devoured the fish lol.. sorry.“
“The place is nice and the food is pretty good. The issue remains the same, the restaurant space is compact. Perhaps better in the summer time if there is outdoor space to help with seating etc. Overall, I had a great time, the music was lively and the energy of the staff and DJ was refreshing. I didn't like the fact that you don't get an actual receipt while dining at the tables (you do get one at the bar). So it's difficult to analyze what you're being charged. The fact that gratuity was included was not disclosed so you could tip twice if that wasn't your intention.“
“This is the worst resturant I've ever been to service is bad ,servant is nasty and their attitude is nasty also the food is not tasty they give you food from the day before ,,(to explain myself) the food they cook today will be serve next morning,,,I'm a cook and i went there and the food is not to FDA standards.....people be careful buy food ther bcuz their food is not fresh and you can get sick really bad....my kids got sick eating the food from this place ...its disgusting....I'm TELL YOU'LL DO NOT BUY FOOD THERE....I SAW THE FOOD SERVER PICKING HER NOSE WITH HER GLOVES ON THAT SHE WERE SERVING FOOD WITH AND I LEFT THE RESTURANT....ALSO THE PLACE IS NASTY....I ALREADY MADE A COMPLAINT TO FOOD DEPARTMENT OF NY CITY..IM TELL YOU'LL DONT. BUY FOOD FROM HERE...P.S.the owners before the oringinal chris amd son was the best ,freindly and respectful..and their food was always fresh“
“I took a bite of my jerk chicken and I can feel the love in the food! wow it’s absolutely delicious. I had the jerk chicken, rice and peas, and plantains. I will be absolutely coming here again. I’m putting this place into my permanent rotation!“
“The best Roti shop in Queens hands down. Every time I go to Queens, I make it my duty to go get a few Roti from them and they never disappoint. Roti is flavorful, authentic, Fresh and the portion is generous, they not stingy at all with the amount of food you get. Price is also great. I love this place. I highly recommend D Roti Hut if you want a roti that tastes like roti from back home in the Caribbean.“
“Recently tried some jerk chicken from here. It was so flavorful and full of spice! The workers were very pleasant and also gave me a sample dish of some other food they serve to try out which was their chicken chow mein, oxtail, cook up rice and fried chicken. Everything was Amazing!!! I definitely recommend here!“
“The staff and owners were friendly and engaging and happy to help us decide what to order. We were treated like family even though we were visiting for the first time.I had the whole snapper with creole sauce and black rice and my wife had the chicken with creole sauce and yellow rice with peas. Starting with a huge fresh salad that we shared and ending with a complimentary slice or two of traditional cake, every part of the meal was a delicious treat. The whole red snapper was cooked to perfection with herbs and thinly sliced peppers and onions and floating in a plateful of rich, fragrant sauce. The rice was piled high on its own plate and served with fried plantains. It was all accompanied by a small side bowl of spicy-hot relish made with pickled cabbage and scotch bonnet peppers. The chicken my wife had was tender and juicy and served with the same creole sauce. The food was absolutely delicious and what made it more special was the obvious care and love that went into the preparation and welcoming way that it was served. When people really care about their food and share it genuinely and generously, it draws you in and brings real happiness. Thanks so much for a perfect meal!“
“Ok so, this is gonna be long. Ok so I'm a Jamaican and usually stay away from Jamaican restaurants because lately they seem to be cutting corners. I'm a chef and from the old school of real Jamaican cuisine. That being said, the food here has flavor, some dishes are way better than others. The thing I don't like, is the outrageous prices for such small plates. I get it, people gotta make money but when you give your customers a little more, they come back often. Also, the waitress is nice but need training on timing. Bring utensils first and if its a couple, bring both meals together, not bring one plate then 10 minutes later you bring the other.. I like the mature Reggae music played while eating on Friday evening. Oh a live band at 10pm but different genre of music so could be socca , reggae or whatever . I prefer the reggae band. Now after the band finished, the DJ ticked me off. I hate when him cut upp the music after 5 seconds. People were upset about that. Dj could be ok but have no clue how to watch the floor. If see mature people, run the music n stop the cutting up and play the song Dem. Chu man. Me vex and leff. Hellooooooo. adults spend money suh if music nice people wi spend cause Dem dance and sweat. Ok so, i went into details n hopefully the owner reads this and edit as necessary cause my presence can expand your establishment if you listen. Great location , with some adjustments this place could sell aff. I do this for a living, go into businesses, assess whats , great and what needs adjustments and make suggestions. Get it done !! Place can be better and a winner with some twerks Good luck!!?“
“You looking for a Caribbean spot, check out 12.6. I had such an amazing time.. The place looks good. I came in after work on a Friday with a couple of friends. The bartender omg ...Super friendly and the drinks.. let me tell you, yes it definitely was a punching. The food was great the jerk snapper and jerk salmon pasta, fried shrimp, calamari, wings and the rum punch , yesssss......Definitely visit this place. Big shout out to the Bartender Shorn for providing excellent service.“
“If it's one thing I appreciate from this place is the portions. Now a days it's hard to find good homemade type food for a decent price. But at Uncle Don's they don't skimp out. I love the sweet plantains. Rice and peas was a bit dry but the flavor is still there. Jerk chicken has flavor without overpowering everything else. The Spicy Beef Patty uff.. my favorite. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is a great establishment for this community. It brings good & delicious carribean food to this part of Long Island. I highly recommend this spot“
“Patronized on a Thursday. The bartender commented she was glad the music cocked out by a mistake and I had to gladly agree, because it indeed was a vibe, but obnoxiously too loud to even converse without screaming in your neighbors ear. The food was really good. Lamb was a little too well done, but I just sampled a piece from my friend. She may have ordered it that way. I didn’t like that the food took way too long to arrive. The drinks were good and strong. The tacos and my friends’ entree (the lamb) arrived first leaving me feeling awkward waiting. When I did receive my food, as I was enjoying the last of it, my friend got the check so we could pay and not have to wait as we wanted to leave by a certain time. Unfortunately, as we paid our bill the bartender automatically threw napkins in my 2/3 finish entree. Subsequently, she took away my meal before I could completely finish it while simultaneously dumping my condiments all over by accident. What an icing on the cake. The food was actually good, so I am complaining that I didn’t get to finish it.Lastly, I was able to park in the childcare parking lot adjacent to this business. Would I return again yes, but probably not at the bar.“
“The food is delicious. I got a combo plate of oxtails,Curry goat and j*** chicken side of mac and cheese and ordered my mama oxtail dinner the food is very good and they give you a lot for your money. I wish they had plantains and dumplings.“
“WHAT AN ABSOLUTE GEM! This place is definitely my new favorite place yet. I stumbled upon this restaurant randomly and I'm so glad that i did. The food is 10/10 - seasoned to perfection, tender and delicious jerk chicken. The Rasta pasta was very tasty and the jerk shrimp omg, super yummy. rice was soft and tasty and the salad was a perfect addition to the dish. The service was 10/10 - the gentlemen was helpful and told us to go online to look at the menu and he ended up being the chef as well, this place is made to order so if you're in a rush I'd place my order before hand, if not enjoy the Freeport views and other restaurants and then come back for your food. Thank you sir for the delicious food!!! The ambiance is 5/10 - It is your typical hole in the wall shack type of location, no real ambiance to it, food is too go. They didn't offer any outdoor seating, so no real ambiance besides an open kitchen that looks really well kept and clean. If you're ever in Freeport - nautical mile. I would highly recommend this place!! You won't be disappointed.“
“The jerk pork is SO good! The best around. The mac and cheese could use a little more seasoning but is good too. It's more similar to black american baked mac and cheese than what you normally get at Jamaican spots (which is a good thing imo).“
“It was a Birthday celebration and the owner tended to us personally. She was so attentive and made our visit a true pleasure. The curry oxtails is one of the signature dishes and it did not disappoint. I was in the mood for steak, and I'm so glad I was. Our party had different dishes like the Elmont pasta (a play on Rasta Pasta), traditional oxtails, and of course my steak. It was my first time and the vibe was nice, the decor was soothing and the music created a nice ambiance for a wonderful evening. I'll be back.“
“Good place to get some delicious food. J*** chicken with rice and peas was very delicious but be a little cautious with finding a few chopped bone pieces. Shrimp and chicken patties were delicious and flavorful too, with a very flaky crust. Friendly staff.“
“Patties are amazing. Light, flavorful and seasoned to perfection. But it doesn't stop there.....the freshly made bread is the show stopper. I gladly take my 20 minute drive to pick up loaves (yes loaves, more than 1) of bread. Owners are also so friendly and inviting. My favorite bakery!!“
“The trick with this place is you have to catch them around lunch time when that jerk chicken comes right off the grill and ask for the extra sauces on the side to take this experience to the ultimate level yummy! Also just a heads up they make great soups as well I've tried the chicken soup and others as well great on a cold day to help warm you up on the insides! Last but not least the jerk pork is where it's at as a nice side to your Oder to add a little more flavor and variety to your dish enjoy!“
“Everything was a 10/10Literally the rum punch kept going my glass was never empty…so when they say bottomless believe that lol…I went with my cousins and aunt, we dinned on the rooftop and best believe we’ll be back more frequently for “
“Stopped in here 2 days in a row. I'm a contractor doing a job in the area. Day one I had curry goat and rice and peas it was absolutely phenomenal. Day 2 I had j*** chicken with rice and peas and it was delicious. I will definitely go out of my way to get food from here it's delicious and authentic.“
“My friend held a Christing after party at island fusion today 9/16/23. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The food was amazing the Mac n cheese boom all the food was so good would recommend this restaurant. Thank you guys for your amazing “
“I love going to get food here. It's always fresh, always delicious, and I never feel like I wasted my money. The drinks are made very well. They have very good customer service with attentive bartenders and servers. Security is always professional and on point. The chef is amazing. I recommend lunch and dinner. Also, Thursdays-Saturday has a nice night-time vibe with great DJs and rhythmic atmosphere“
“Service is excellent the food is inconsistent but on a good day we enjoy our meal. Staff is friendly & helpful always a pleasure. Porridge is good but needs more selection on weekends. Nice comfortable spotParking: At the back of the restaurant“
“Whenever I am craving for a Smokey, juicy, slightly spicy flavored j*** pork, this is the place that I go to. This is a tiny place that offers Jamaican foods which includes J*** pork, j*** chicken, salt fish, ackee, liver, pumpkin soup, beef patty, chicken patty, rice and peas, curry chicken, curry goat, oxtail and a lot more. Mainly a take out place. Today, I came here to buy "**** pork only" as I already have rice at home. It can be bought for a quarter of a pound, half pound or one pound. Half pound will cost about $11.00 +. They offer a variety of sauce but what I mainly like is the spicy orange sauce (Jamaican hot chili pepper) and the red sauce which is slightly on the sweeter side. The price per portions are reasonable. Everything the I have tried here before was delicious, flavorful/not too strong and always the right seasoning and taste. You will always be warmly greeted by the very nice lady on the counter, service is fast and quick. Give it a try.“
“I always shop here but i never had any of the cooked food until today .Tried Curry Goat with white rice i noticed it had carrot so immediately started to hate on it tried it and it was very good .#1 It was not greasy #2 it was not salty #3 meat was not fladgy and inedible ??Sorrel so good ..fuzzysjamaicankitchkatch“
“Prob the best food in the mall. They don't get big lines here but that's because most of the people that shop here are Caribbean and they make their own food at home. For people like me this place is phenomenal. Average price from most Jamaican spots. They ran out of plantains and they replaced it with Mac n cheese and then covered it with ox tail gravy... Need I say more?“
“I only order j*** pork & j*** chicken, and I most say that this is the BEST j*** chicken & pork I have EVER taste in America. I am hooked. It’s all about the flavor, and most restaurants just cook to sale, but Merrick J*** cook to please. They’re Potato pudding is good too.. not too sweet, but just right.Dietary restrictions: Not salty like most Jamaican restaurant.“
“Awesome restaurant!! The hostess Destiny was so warm and welcoming. I entered the restaurant frustrated about my day. Destiny was so sweet and professional and helped me calm down. My experience here turned my day around. The service, the drinks, the food was excellent!!!Our server Lonnie was prompt, patient, personable and she did a really sweet birthday treat. Highly recommend this restaurant!!Wheelchair accessibility: They had a removable ramp available for wheelchair access“
“this is easily the best jerk chicken plate in rockaway, and it’s not even close. i ordered 5 jerk chicken dinners plus some sides, and the very helpful young man working hooked me up with great service, which is RARE in far rockaway. my whole order was ready in a couple of minutes, and mind you, he was getting fresh chicken right off the grill and chopping it up. the macaroni and cheese was perfect, not too cheesy and nicely seasoned, the rice and peas were cooked on point. honestly, just go get the food, you won’t regret it. hell, i’m about to go get lunch from there ? very good food that’s worth your money is gonna do it every single time!“
“Food was excellentStew peas/pig tail soupCurry goat nice and tender and tastyFried shrimp fresh cooked to perfectionJerk chicken with rice and peas tasty.Service at the bar was professional and attentive, however cocktails are not their specialty, otherwise I rate this place as the go to place in Queens“
“This spot is popping in the warmer months with live band Caribbean and DJ playing the top hiphop and genres of music. Food is good too. Burgers, fries, wings, chicken meals really most of the menu is great for that outdoor beach day. Their rum punch is great?? and they also serve fresh coconuts. Overall always a vibe there with onlookers dancing outside. Really one of the best summer spots on the boardwalk.“
“I ordered curry chicken roti and veggies and not too bad. Nothing to really rave about but it was cool. I enjoyed it. Food came quickly. I usually like to eat the roti skin at my own leisure (prefer for it not to be served wrapped) but I didn't mind it because the gravy was not very oily and they portioned it well that it didn't overly soak the skin. I was happy. I would order again.“
