Sparkling Pointe Vineyards & Winery Wineries • $$

“This is a perfect vineyard to start your day off at. I personally can't drink red wine at noon so bubbly is a much better choice for me. Our server was knowledgeable and it was a gorgeous day to sit outside and look at the vineyard. The wine flight was yummy too.“

“This is a restaurant not to miss, and by the way, they do a very busy take out business. You can eat at the counter, or select a table for your meal: We always choose the counter. The owners, Justo and Vicki provide excellent service, noting that in my experience, everything is cooked to order, very fresh. You can be certain. that whatever you pick off the Menu, it will be very tasty..the last thing you will worry about is the price of he food, albeit moderate in my opinion. In addition to the usual sodas, etc., Latin Fusion now offers cocktails, beer and wine. I tried their Margarita and was very pleased. Another thing I just found out, in their upstairs, they have a dining room that will seat about 25 people. Except for the times that he helps out with the counter, Justo does the cooking, and he and his staff have that nailed. So the next time you hear the catchy tune "Guantanamera" in your head, put on your zapatos and head in down to Latin Fuzion, as I do, whenever I find myself in Southhold (North Fork of LI) and I have the need for hand prepared, fresh and original Mexican food. In closing, go to their website and check out the menu....don't hesitate to order food to go for 1 person, to the whole family. And while you are at it, experiment with a tasty dessert.“

Mattebella Vineyards Wineries • $$
46005 NY-25, Southold

“Nice winery in Long Island. Each part of the winery has its own character, and they have different seating arrangements for groups of 4-8. The wines & charcuterie boards are on the pricey side. We got the White wine tasting menu. It was 38$ and we got to taste 9 different wines. They were all quite good. The service was Aok. The negatives were the porta potty situation and the cash only tips. They should get real bathrooms and not many people have cash with them. Overall it was a good experience.“

“We live in this town and we have been here many times. They have a great happy hour with half-price drinks most days of the week and on Fridays half price apps. We went for a full dinner several times this summer and we' have not been disappointed. Special recommendations for bartender Eddie, and waitress Katie. Recommend the dishes - apps: Baja fish tacos, fish chouda, Thai chili mussels, Entree: crusted cod. The chicken Milanese looks wonderful, but didn't actually have it. The shrimp and grits with sausage was only OK. I can make it better at home. Sit outside on the deck when the weather is wonderful, but sit inside when it is marginal.“

“Although there are several good Latin American restaurants in the area, La Cascada is by far my favorite due to the noticeably friendly employees, and we pick up take out here frequently. It's best to call ahead, as the food tends to take a while, but this seems to suggest that it is always freshly prepared- it certainly tastes that way. I love the pupusas- delicious with any and all fillings. I recently tried the barbecue chicken quesadilla, which, as the name suggests, includes barbecue sauce, and found it to be rather different and tasty. The rice and beans here are especially yummy- the rice fluffy and the black beans really flavorful (note: so flavorful that I suspect they are not vegetarian). The steak and onions combination plate is also a winner. And across the whole menu, the prices seem to be quite reasonable relative to the portion size.“
