“Love it here! My husband and I have been twice since discovering it a month ago. The food is really good. We’ve tried the curry goat, curry chicken, jerk chicken, and stew chicken so far. My favorite dish has to be the jerk chicken plantain cups. We also tried the culture clash and the rum punch which were both great drinks.The owner (Mo) is awesome, he’s such a friendly guy and we were engaged in conversation with him the whole time we were there on our first visit. “I called the restaurant today on my daughter’s birthday (2/26/24) to ask for a table for 5 people including two children. I was told there’s not enough seating for everyone but they would gladly accommodate us at the event space next door. I agreed. My family arrived at around 6 and the two ladies took our order and Yvonne took a few minutes to prepare the table for us. When she led us into the room we were so delighted and astounded! The place was so beautifully decorated, and she managed it in a very short time! All the food was delicious! She made my daughter feel so special, she danced with the girls and helped cut the cake! I was very lucky and blessed to have been given this wonderful memory! It was such a pleasure to meet Yvonne, she is so sweet and has such a good heart! “The place is nice and the food is pretty good. The issue remains the same, the restaurant space is compact. Perhaps better in the summer time if there is outdoor space to help with seating etc. Overall, I had a great time, the music was lively and the energy of the staff and DJ was refreshing. I didn't like the fact that you don't get an actual receipt while dining at the tables (you do get one at the bar). So it's difficult to analyze what you're being charged. The fact that gratuity was included was not disclosed so you could tip twice if that wasn't your intention.“
“I did take out so I can't talk on the ambiance but as far as service goes they have excellent service and great timing. The curry goat is okay it wasn't spicy enough but the meat was seasoned and cooked thoroughly. It's definitely a look if you like medium hot curry.“

This time I ordered Oxtails, Jerk Chicken Empanadas and Mac & Cheese via Seamless to pickup. They cancelled the jerk and Mac. Pretty disappointing.But besides that the oxtail were meaty and flavorful. The sauce tasted tomatoey which was fine. Rice & Peas were fine as was the cabbage.Id get food again I just need them to either have food advertised or edit their online menus to what they actually have.“
“The best West Indian food I’ve had in a very long time. The food was so fresh, perfect temperature and so delicious. This place definitely have the flavor of the Caribbean ( I never been there) but it surely made me feel like I was. I had the jerk chicken with veggie rice. The sorrel beverage perfect not overly sweet or bitter.All meat is halal! I give it a 4 out of 5Vegetarian options: There is a vegetarian option on the menu.Parking: It’s in Brooklyn, your typical parking for the area.Kid-friendliness: No kids menu selection, but kids can definitely eat here if they share a plate to even out the price.“

“The people and the food, juices, and elixirs are wonderful! What a find!!!! We had sone delicious fresh juice and the lovely woman brought us samples of their elixirs , which were delicious and so energizing. We had the spinach and lentil turnovers which were also delicious... I was not expecting such health food to be so delicious. We needed to sit outside because we had a dog and they were so concerned about our being in the sun that they offered to move their canopy over us.The whole experience was so filled with genuine love and kindness. I wish I lived closer, I'd be here all the time!“

“Please don't judge a book by its cover. Upon entry, we were greeted by a sweet young lady who seated us. Not even 5 minutes later, we were offered lemon drops. The brunch was reasonably priced and quite delicious along with my own personal carafe (straw included). The staff was attentive to my allergies (strawberries are the devil) and kindly catered to my ailment lol. There was a DJ and hookah on deck, so the ambiance was just right. The staff was very attentive and the DJ was oh so right( thanks for the shots). Overall, it was a great experience and I will come visit real soon!“

“The best Roti shop in Queens hands down. Every time I go to Queens, I make it my duty to go get a few Roti from them and they never disappoint. Roti is flavorful, authentic, Fresh and the portion is generous, they not stingy at all with the amount of food you get. Price is also great. I love this place. I highly recommend D Roti Hut if you want a roti that tastes like roti from back home in the Caribbean.“
“Ok so, this is gonna be long. Ok so I'm a Jamaican and usually stay away from Jamaican restaurants because lately they seem to be cutting corners. I'm a chef and from the old school of real Jamaican cuisine. That being said, the food here has flavor, some dishes are way better than others. The thing I don't like, is the outrageous prices for such small plates. I get it, people gotta make money but when you give your customers a little more, they come back often. Also, the waitress is nice but need training on timing. Bring utensils first and if its a couple, bring both meals together, not bring one plate then 10 minutes later you bring the other.. I like the mature Reggae music played while eating on Friday evening. Oh a live band at 10pm but different genre of music so could be socca , reggae or whatever . I prefer the reggae band. Now after the band finished, the DJ ticked me off. I hate when him cut upp the music after 5 seconds. People were upset about that. Dj could be ok but have no clue how to watch the floor. If see mature people, run the music n stop the cutting up and play the song Dem. Chu man. Me vex and leff. Hellooooooo. adults spend money suh if music nice people wi spend cause Dem dance and sweat. Ok so, i went into details n hopefully the owner reads this and edit as necessary cause my presence can expand your establishment if you listen. Great location , with some adjustments this place could sell aff. I do this for a living, go into businesses, assess whats , great and what needs adjustments and make suggestions. Get it done !! “The staff and owners were friendly and engaging and happy to help us decide what to order. We were treated like family even though we were visiting for the first time.I had the whole snapper with creole sauce and black rice and my wife had the chicken with creole sauce and yellow rice with peas. Starting with a huge fresh salad that we shared and ending with a complimentary slice or two of traditional cake, every part of the meal was a delicious treat.The whole red snapper was cooked to perfection with herbs and thinly sliced peppers and onions and floating in a plateful of rich, fragrant sauce. The rice was piled high on its own plate and served with fried plantains. It was all accompanied by a small side bowl of spicy-hot relish made with pickled cabbage and scotch bonnet peppers. The chicken my wife had was tender and juicy and served with the same creole sauce.The food was absolutely delicious and what made it more special was the obvious care and love that went into the preparation and welcoming way that it was served. When people really care about their food and share it genuinely and generously, it draws you in and brings real happiness.Thanks so much for a perfect meal!“

“I've never had any food from here that I did not like and I'm very particular about what I eat. Not only is the food really good, they give good portions and the prices are fair. My absolute favorite is the stewed pork on a double with chickpeas, shadowbenny and tamarind sauce. 10/10 recommend! The staff is cool and the atmosphere is really laid back. They have a bar inside but I've never dined in. They also have a seating area, but the restaurant is mostly good for takeout. “I’m from VA and I was at my brothers home for Thanksgiving in Jamaica Queens. The day of me leaving to go back home I wanted some authentic Jamaican food. Here it was!! The food is amazing, service is great. It’s very clean. I got the Oxtail with rice and all I can say WOW!! While I was there I asked the staff member ackee and of course she had it with fried dumplings. That was amazing ?! This will be ato go place for me every time I visit my brother. The food was really good. Lamb was a little too well done, but I just sampled a piece from my friend. She may have ordered it that way. I didn’t like that the food took way too long to arrive. The drinks were good and strong. The tacos and my friends’ entree (the lamb) arrived first leaving me feeling awkward waiting. When I did receive my food, as I was enjoying the last of it, my friend got the check so we could pay and not have to wait as we wanted to leave by a certain time. Unfortunately, as we paid our bill the bartender automatically threw napkins in my 2/3 finish entree. Subsequently, she took away my meal before I could completely finish it while simultaneously dumping my condiments all over by accident. What an icing on the cake. The Playlist was playing old skool reggae, hip hop & r&b. The bartender Keyosha was attentive & friendly. They have hookah after 7pm for ($35) , I shall return to try the hookah & red snapper. The curry oxtails is one of the signature dishes and it did not disappoint. I was in the mood for steak, and I'm so glad I was. Our party had different dishes like the Elmont pasta (a play on Rasta Pasta), traditional oxtails, and of course my steak. It was my first time and the vibe was nice, the decor was soothing and the music created a nice ambiance for a wonderful evening. I'll be back.“

She also ensures optimal financial gains for Summer Down, as she could be heard informing her colleagues of the accurate costs of products.Simmer Down is worth visiting for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I particularly enjoy that music is played throughout the day, rather than the news.
