“I called the restaurant today on my daughter’s birthday (2/26/24) to ask for a table for 5 people including two children. I was told there’s not enough seating for everyone but they would gladly accommodate us at the event space next door. I agreed. My family arrived at around 6 and the two ladies took our order and Yvonne took a few minutes to prepare the table for us. When she led us into the room we were so delighted and astounded! The place was so beautifully decorated, and she managed it in a very short time! All the food was delicious! She made my daughter feel so special, she danced with the girls and helped cut the cake! I was very lucky and blessed to have been given this wonderful memory! It was such a pleasure to meet Yvonne, she is so sweet and has such a good heart! I will definitely be back again soon!Dietary restrictions: Totally Vegan and plant based menu.Kid-friendliness: Yvonne was so sweet with my girls.“
“The place is nice and the food is pretty good. The issue remains the same, the restaurant space is compact. Perhaps better in the summer time if there is outdoor space to help with seating etc. Overall, I had a great time, the music was lively and the energy of the staff and DJ was refreshing. I didn't like the fact that you don't get an actual receipt while dining at the tables (you do get one at the bar). So it's difficult to analyze what you're being charged. The fact that gratuity was included was not disclosed so you could tip twice if that wasn't your intention.“
“This is the worst resturant I've ever been to service is bad ,servant is nasty and their attitude is nasty also the food is not tasty they give you food from the day before ,,(to explain myself) the food they cook today will be serve next morning,,,I'm a cook and i went there and the food is not to FDA standards.....people be careful buy food ther bcuz their food is not fresh and you can get sick really bad....my kids got sick eating the food from this place ...its disgusting....I'm TELL YOU'LL DO NOT BUY FOOD THERE....I SAW THE FOOD SERVER PICKING HER NOSE WITH HER GLOVES ON THAT SHE WERE SERVING FOOD WITH AND I LEFT THE RESTURANT....ALSO THE PLACE IS NASTY....I ALREADY MADE A COMPLAINT TO FOOD DEPARTMENT OF NY CITY..IM TELL YOU'LL DONT. BUY FOOD FROM HERE...P.S.the owners before the oringinal chris amd son was the best ,freindly and respectful..and their food was always fresh“
“This place had some of the best jerk chicken I ever had in my life. I've gone back 3x times in the past month and they are not there anymore. Does anyone have an updated location for this jerk pit?Because now I'm sad...sad spelled backwards is das and das not good :/“
“I get takeout probably once a week from here. Bc it is that good. Like it is extremely good & the prices are average (you could say it’s a bit high but truthfully with the quality it is right on)1. This place is so clean.Every item I have gotten was delicious.Jerk chicken with macaroni and cheese-Chicken was flavorful & moist- so freaking good.Mac and cheese portions could be a little bigger to be honest but tasted amazing.Oxtail rice & peas and steamed veggies-Amazing! Could’ve skimmed a lil bit of the fat of the oxtail but I get it. Still so damn good, down to the peas & rice & steamed veggies all tasting amazing.Curry goat again another hit!Their patties are the best!!! Like soft flaky buttery, I get one every single time.I get a variation of these items everytime I go there and have not been dissappointed so they are consistent in good food.Definitely made this my Jamaican spot.Jerk chicken is moist while flavorful,“
“I’m from VA and I was at my brothers home for Thanksgiving in Jamaica Queens. The day of me leaving to go back home I wanted some authentic Jamaican food. Here it was!! The food is amazing, service is great. It’s very clean. I got the Oxtail with rice and all I can say WOW!! While I was there I asked the staff member ackee and of course she had it with fried dumplings. That was amazing ?! This will be ato go place for me every time I visit my brother. Thank you for your great hospitality. God bless you.“
“I gave it 4 only cause it was a bit pricey for no meat. I had the callalo, rice and peas with plantains. Mustvsay I was very pleased with the taste and the presentation. The lady who served me was also very nice. I quess i would go back when I'm high on funds. I ate all of it..very good and fulling...“
“The trick with this place is you have to catch them around lunch time when that jerk chicken comes right off the grill and ask for the extra sauces on the side to take this experience to the ultimate level yummy! Also just a heads up they make great soups as well I've tried the chicken soup and others as well great on a cold day to help warm you up on the insides! Last but not least the jerk pork is where it's at as a nice side to your Oder to add a little more flavor and variety to your dish enjoy!“
“The food is great. It's always crowded and long checkout line. Weekends are lunch hours are worst. Atmosphere is not the best very mama and papa type Atmosphere. Service is decentVegetarian options: They are a few vegetables options, there is always 3/4 type of veggies options on the menu“
“Food is always good here.At times there's a wait but it's because the cashier shares food and if she's sharing no one else can cash you out.Well that was then. I just ordered veggie chunks and the entire thing was awful. Too salty and no flavor. Miss G's can do better. No fork either. I normally love ordering from here.“
“Stopped in here 2 days in a row. I'm a contractor doing a job in the area. Day one I had curry goat and rice and peas it was absolutely phenomenal. Day 2 I had j*** chicken with rice and peas and it was delicious. I will definitely go out of my way to get food from here it's delicious and authentic.“
“Service is excellent the food is inconsistent but on a good day we enjoy our meal. Staff is friendly & helpful always a pleasure. Porridge is good but needs more selection on weekends. Nice comfortable spotParking: At the back of the restaurant“
“I had little to no opinions on this establishment. My parents live in Breezy so you get what you get. But WHAT THE #%# I had the pork loin sandwich. OMG. On my knees bowing. Best gosh darn pork loin sandwich that I now have to travel for. Of course the staff was fantastic, and the place is very clean. It’s a beach theme on the beach. Amazing beautiful views. My parents literally go there all the time and say all the food is delicious.“
“Whenever I am craving for a Smokey, juicy, slightly spicy flavored j*** pork, this is the place that I go to. This is a tiny place that offers Jamaican foods which includes J*** pork, j*** chicken, salt fish, ackee, liver, pumpkin soup, beef patty, chicken patty, rice and peas, curry chicken, curry goat, oxtail and a lot more. Mainly a take out place. Today, I came here to buy "**** pork only" as I already have rice at home. It can be bought for a quarter of a pound, half pound or one pound. Half pound will cost about $11.00 +. They offer a variety of sauce but what I mainly like is the spicy orange sauce (Jamaican hot chili pepper) and the red sauce which is slightly on the sweeter side. The price per portions are reasonable. Everything the I have tried here before was delicious, flavorful/not too strong and always the right seasoning and taste. You will always be warmly greeted by the very nice lady on the counter, service is fast and quick. Give it a try.“
“Very good food. The 2 ladies were very nice polite and gave me fast service. The reviews are very misleading. Best food in the neighborhood. Oxtails tender and very good price and amount of food. Update I went back twice the stewed chicken is dry and then the plate of oxtails was not the same size lots of rice little meat. They were still nice but I decided not to make this a reg place I eat“
“Food was ok. I got the Jerk chicken, shrimp pasta, steamed vegetable, some oxtails on the side and a drink. The Jerk chicken was overcooked and tasted burnt. They do grill it outside. I didn’t get much of the seasoning to proclaim its authentic jerk chicken. It was super disappointing due to the fact that’s what I like the most and was looking forward to the most. However, the guy at the cashier was very nice & helpful. The place is clean. You serve yourself and it’s by the pound. It was dead in there. Very empty but food is 7.5/10. I would go back there again for something quick.“
“I only order j*** pork & j*** chicken, and I most say that this is the BEST j*** chicken & pork I have EVER taste in America. I am hooked. It’s all about the flavor, and most restaurants just cook to sale, but Merrick J*** cook to please. They’re Potato pudding is good too.. not too sweet, but just right.Dietary restrictions: Not salty like most Jamaican restaurant.“
“For a person who has never tried oxtail before this place really did there thing on the oxtail very tender and a nice sweetness to it and the jerk chicken is very juicy not even dry just make sure if you don’t like spicy to add light jerk sauce because it really got a kick to it. Definitely coming “
“I have passed by this place several times but never tried it because I am very picky with where I buy Jamaican food from. A friend recommended that I try their food one morning. This is my second time going. The first time I ordered the same as seen in the picture but I also ordered their corn meal porridge. Both were delicious! The Calaloo & Codfish is a little on the spicy side, so if you like spice you're good. If not, don't bother. They are bit pricey, considering that you can go up the street for cheaper but the food is tasty and seems fresh.“
“this is easily the best jerk chicken plate in rockaway, and it’s not even close. i ordered 5 jerk chicken dinners plus some sides, and the very helpful young man working hooked me up with great service, which is RARE in far rockaway. my whole order was ready in a couple of minutes, and mind you, he was getting fresh chicken right off the grill and chopping it up. the macaroni and cheese was perfect, not too cheesy and nicely seasoned, the rice and peas were cooked on point. honestly, just go get the food, you won’t regret it. hell, i’m about to go get lunch from there ? very good food that’s worth your money is gonna do it every single time!“
“Country life jerk is definitely a hidden gem. The food is authentic and delicious. To date i've only tried the jerk chicken, mac n cheese and soup and none of them disappoint. The mac n cheese is made with cheddar and is cheesy!! The jerk chicken is seasoned well, tender and portions are always good, even for the small sizes. In addition, they follow special instructions and the service is friendly ...top notch!!“
“HMG this place is the best night cap food shop to stop this place remind me back in Jamaica the dumpling shop on Waltham Park road east road where you could get your breakfast on your way to work in the morning have to go back to eat fry roast breadfruit and ackee and salt fish ......“
“I told the server that the menu had sweet chili chicken and I had sweet chili chicken & shrimp the last time I went to The Door with my friend. He stated that shrimp & chicken wasn't on the menu on Sundays. To my pleasant surprise when my meal arrived, there was shrimp added to my sweet chili chicken. I thought that was nice and very accomodating. I'll definitely dine there again. The lemonade, which is really lime juice, is refreshing!!“
“Ordered from this place over the weekend, and I wasn't really impressed to be honest. I originally ordered oxtail with Rasta pasta and homemade ginger beer only to get a call 2 minutes later telling they didn't have Rasta pasta OR the homemade ginger beer. I had to get Mac and cheese instead. I won't lie they DEFINITELY made up for it because they gave me TWO drinks and a large oxtail instead of the medium I originally asked for. The food wasn't bad, the mac and cheese was oily...it wasn't anything I'd jump and holler for....but the customer service was good. They also packaged the food VERY well making sure none of it spilled which I also appreciated!“
“The food is really Jamaican! Full of flavor, spicy, tasteful! It has a grandmother cooking kinda vibes to it which makes you appreciate the authenticity of the food and setting. It's definitely not commercialize but rather unique in feel“
“I absolutely adore this restaurant and the food is just delicious! The brown stew king fish is my go to. I will say though, I just went there yesterday and everyone I was with asked for extra gravy and were told sure, as usual...there wasn't any extra gravy or almost any gravy when we began to eat our food. Also, for some reason, the cabbage was only sprinkled on top in on area. I haven't seen that before and didn't like that I was only able to enjoy two fork fills of cabbage. May next time be better because I will be back. Still great food, just need to check my food before leaving.“
“The Chicken patty here is so good but for the beef patty it tastes a bit cold and under cooked but this place is still Delicious and they are so nice to kids if i could put a 4.75 i would, they need to renovate the place.Kid-friendliness: they are very nice to kids and they help the kids all the time.“
“I actually stumbled upon this restaurant on Uber Eats after the other Jamaican restaurant canceled on me. I decided to give Jah Leng a try. First of all it came in less than 30 mins. I ordered the oxtail, it was so delicious I am sorry I did not order the large. It was soft and it was not salty or fatty. I love that the salad was in a separate little bowl. I have to find the restaurant and have a sit down meal. Very pleased!! 10 out 10 for me!!“
“They need to make more breakfast, you have to rush there to get it before it runs out, by 9:30am. At least make enough for the people until 11:00, everyone clearly loves their breakfast but it’s never enough. I overheard women on line complaining about this, as well as my mom.“
“This is definitely a good jamaican restaurant. You can get a whole meal for $7.00 oxtails rice and peas with plantains ,not bad.and the wait isn't long at all. Not to mention the young lady that works there customer service was pleasant.don't for get there pineapple sodas, jamaican style.“
“Was in the area for a Basketball turny. This place smelled so good I could not walk past without stopping. Went in and it smelled even better. I ordered the J*** Chicken (large) with red beans and rice, and cabbage. The portion was well worth the price. I thought the j*** had excellent flavor with a little bit of heat. Chicken was moist and not dried out. Rice was very good and had a little bit of gravy on it. Very pleased with my visit.“
“Food: the plate looks small, but it is very filling. There are 2 dressings available: Italian and French, but they only had Italian today. The oxtail was good and the jerk chicken was cooked through. Was NOT a fan of any of the sauces - the jerk sauce has a sweet taste but not a good after taste. I appreciated that they put oxtail gravy on the rice and peas for the jerk chicken order without asking. They had a lot of good lemonade options, but they were sold out. Maybe next time? Service: this was a very efficient spot. There is a kiosk looking iPad available to place orders. Once the order is placed and paid for, a text message is received to wait outside or in your car. Once the order is ready you'll receive a text message to come inside to pick it up. The servers were friendly and quick. Ambiance: It was a ghost town today when I went , but yesterday there was a line around the corner. There is a little (by little I mean 1-2 people can fit inside) ordering area where the iPad like kiosk is to place your order. 2 orders cost $40. Not a fan of that price point.“
“There's always the same food here, but it's also always consistently good so I like coming here for lunch from time to time. Buffet style set up, options range from whitefish and shrimp to curried & jerk chicken & oxtail. The Jamaican patties are always a nice treat too!“
“Best food and music especially on the late night. Fried shark, jerk chicken, seafood. Wonderful combination of jamaican and Guyanese. One of my favorite spotsVegetarian options: Very vegetarian friendly. I can't recall but there are selections in the menu you can ask for. Good luck and enjoy.“
“The only thing holding this restaurant back from getting a 5-star review is the super long wait for your food, though it does seem like it depends on what you order. Some dishes come out in no time and others take over 45 minutes to arrive. That said, everything I ordered came out piping hot and clearly fresh, not just warmed up. Food was delicious and I liked that the cook is adding their little spin on a lot of the traditional Trini dishes which is perfectly fine since I don't go out for home cooking. They have great music, awesome drinks, and the ambience of the place was really nice. I'll definitely go again but I think I'll just do drinks/appetizers to avoid the wait lol.“
“I started ordering from here cause it close to my job & the first time, the food was amazing, the goat was perfectly seasoned, the roti was nice & fluffy but the last few times I’ve ordered from here its like they give less & less food. My goat roti today was mainly bones, the seasoning isnt as it was the first time & its a little disappointing.“
“Catered our EVS Week and Christmas party. Staff loved the food. On time and tasty. They were so good for EVS week we used them again for our Christmas lunch and dinner for the staff.Excellent food. I personally love the sweet and sour chicken.“
