“Came here for a quick bite and was not disappointed. This is definitely your bar and bar food type of spot. We ordered the chili burger, Philly cheesesteak, pizza, and chicken fingers with fries. The chili burger tasted good. The pizza was thin crust and tasted well. The Philly cheese wasn't bad and neither were the chicken fingers. If you're looking for good bar food, bar vibe, and some relaxation this is the place.“

“This place is amazing! We had 25 people coming from an Army game and called to see if they could take us all in an hour- they said yes and we are so glad they did! Servers Michael and Justin were incredible! We walked in, tables were set, water glasses filled and menus ready. They handled separate bills with ease, drink orders, soups, appetizers, meals and desserts with amazing customer service- and the food was a home run!! True comfort food with a flare! “We live in western Connecticut and traveled to Peekskill for a show at The Paramount Theater, where we decided to enjoy an early dinner. This was our first dining experience at 'The Central,' which we chose because they had Paella on the menu, which is a rare occurrence on most restaurant menus. We began our meal with Baratta Toast topped with baratta and mushrooms, and it was delicious! The Paella was served in the pan where it was cooked, and it was hot, which was a good thing. They also let you know on their menu that one order is plenty of food for two, and they are 100% correct. The rice was cooked perfectly with just a mild crust at the bottom and surrounded with fresh shrimp, mussels, and squid. I say 'BRAVO' to the chef. The Central is not outrageously priced, features a casual dining atmosphere, and is right next to the Amtrak commuter tracks, which is kind of cool. The next time we come to town for a Paramount Theater show, you'll find us at 'The Central'!“

“I went there 4 times already and I must say that for a recent new comer to the US, this place is a hidden gem. Great craft beer selection and Evan (the owner) is a pretty awesome dude. I am a punk rock sound mixer and filmmaker from Lisbon, Portugal that has been touring the world since 1996 and I really thought that now living in corky expensive Westchester that it would be rare to feel and get in touch with “real scrappy people”, I guess I was wrong so thank you Growlers for having me, much appreciated. Last Tuesday was night jam sessions hosted by Paul Francis which is indeed an awesome fellow. “What a gem, of a place, definitely a keeper to revisit. My husband and I went with friends last night (Friday) we had a great time, everyone was friendly; very welcoming, music was great. The food was absolutely delicious, Ben, Jay thank you for your hospitality, we will be back soon.“

“The new owners are basically doing their best to try to create a little music venue on the weekends. Jungle Love was on tonight and the place was hopping. We've eaten here a couple of times in the food's been good. I was a little disappointed in the chicken scarp as the potatoes were cold in the middle was kind of strange. “I took my daughters there for a 7 year old birthday party. It was cool for the kids, and the pizza was good. I would have liked some more game options, especially since they have a sports bar section for adults. They also have an axe throwing setup as well. Part of this place is under renovation. I would definitely go back for an adult night out after renovations are complete. Looks like it may be even more fun.“

“A cool local bar. our waiter/bartender was so sweet ? wish I could remember her name. We had mozzarella sticks, dirty tater tots, and teriyaki garlic wings. Portions were big ! Flavor on point. We had Jack and cokes that were perfect ! May not look like anything when you walk in, but don't judge a book by its cover! I almost did, and I'm glad I didn't. The tables had all New york sports teams. Sorry, I missed that because I would have picked the Knicks one, lol. Thank you for a great time and great bar food.“

“Great dive bar that I stopped at spontaneously after walking around Peekskill. Ordered the French Onion soup and a cheeseburger with fries. Food was great (although I prefer swiss cheese on my F.O.S. and not provolone) and the bartender was very nice, too. It was fun chatting with her. The place was empty (for lunch anyway) but I didn't mind as I don't like crowds. It was me and another guy at the bar. He was annoying but she handled him well. I'm guessing this is more of a nighttime hangout, but I definitely liked the vibe here.“

I was last here about 20 years ago but to be honest, like most, I have zero reason to ever be in Verplanck. This evening I was down there and made the immediate decision to dine-in the second I saw their big sign on Broadway. The place looks basically the same as I remember, very neat, clean and of course with a stellar menu. I observed Carmine (at the bar) preparing some amazing looking cocktails! Great service, well priced, friendly staff and great dishes! One thing I want to point out is how the first forkful of my cold antipasto salad appetizer immediately tasted soooo different. I wasn't expecting fresh, 'sharp' provolone -- no sliced ham here kids. Tonight was an unexpected treat! I will again grab my passport and cross the border into Westchester to spend more time here!
