“Awesome Lebanese food in the heart of West Hempstead. The restaurant is clean and cozy, the atmosphere is relaxing. We ordered kafta, spinach pies, safihas, marinated steak and chicken, and baba ganoush. They were fresh and delicious. This place is a real gem!!”

I live in Amityville but have been working in West Hempstead this past week and have had some great sandwiches from The Brother's Deli. They also have hot food and salads. “One thing I miss about living in Long Island are the Tex-Mex restaurants. Yes, they're not of the highest quality, and usually they're in a cheap location, and the horrible customer service is always a given, but I do enjoy the food every once in a while.

After searching for a Tex-Mex restaurant, I stumbled across Taco King. This location is actually pretty big with plenty of sitting space. My usual go-to dish at a Tex-Mex place is the Grilled Steak rice platter, so I decided to stick with what I like. I thought the steak here was excellent. It came with one flour tortilla, rice, beans, salad, guac, and chili. The quality and proportion was better than what I expected.

However, it was crazy expensive. I know I sound old, but I remember that only a few years ago, the same dish was about $8 or $9. Now it's over $17! I would gladly eat here more often if the price was cheaper.”

I think it may have been the daughter who answered the phone and was there when I picked up my order she looked straight at me with a welcoming smile. “Jersey mikes may technically be a fast food sandwich chain along with subway, blimpie, Quiznos and all that. But they are far cleaner and they slice their meat to order. Besides all that, they make a fantastic Italian. This jersey mikes is particularly well kept and the people I’ve interacted with so far have been very nice. As far as Italians go, theirs is delicious, even compared with local delis and other restaurants. It’s just really surprisingly good.”

We shared delicious jalea and had a drink which was more than enough food for us to share. “It's a little slice of El Salvador. It is a bit small so I'm busy days you may have to wait to be seated. I've had pupusas, steak, platos typicos, grilled chicken and fish. All of them are great. I've been coming here for years.”
