Worst service ever I went there over 34 years and today a blonde bartender gave me grief for waving my arms as she was too busy to fill my order then ran her mouth after she relented to fill the order to other patrons last time I will ever visit Tony's

They accused me of taking a glass off the shelf and I didn't take it. The tender was very rude and it didn't make sense. She proceeded to make me leave the bar. I have never been more offended in my life. I cannot believe the poor customer service of this establishment.

I went to OU back in the 90s, and this was my spot when my taste got a bit more sophisticated. Great bar, on the divey with pride side. Prices are great, didnt double on the rolling rock since last time I went in 1993! So glad its stuck around over the years. On my short list next time I return to Athens.

My friends and I frequent this bar- it's one of our favorites in Athens. However, a few nights ago, we were publicly ridiculed by a female bartender who evidently assumed that we were underage regardless of the fact that we all provided appropriate identification. She served us a few times, seemingly without issue, before loudly insisting that she would not be serving us and that we could "go somewhere else"- even going so far as to loudly berate my friend as she tried to close out her tab (which she herself had opened.) We've never had problems at this bar before and have enjoyed the atmosphere numerous times without an issue. It's typically a very welcoming place with kind staff, but our experience has definitely changed thanks to the blatant disrespect and unprofessionalism we experience from a certain bartender.

this is one of my favorite bars in athens ~ but when my friend went up to the bar to order a drink for herself and me with the appropriate identification, the bartender said she wouldn't serve us. When I went up to the bar (with my ID that she had already been shown, paying for a tab I myself had opened) she proclaimed loudly that she wouldn't serve me. I said that's fine I just need to pay my tab. I have never been treated so poorly, and I am so disappointed :( I just wanted to have a good night out and instead I was publicly embarrassed.

The atmosphere is friendly. The bartenders are nice and the other patrons usually are too. I did go in the summer months though, so they were mostly townies. The drinks are a good price and they have a great selection of spirits. They have live music sometimes that's usually very good.Parking: The best bet for parking here are the meters across the street by Casa. It was free all the times I went, but it's not always like that.

Tony's is my go to bar in a town full of bars. The bartenders are so skilled that they often intuit drink what I want before I even know. They are friendly and efficient and also willing to lend a friendly ear. Happy hour is perfect for patrons who prefer a chill more Cheers like atmosphere and later hours are bumpin' for the younger crowd. Tony's will not disappoint.

RACIST bartender who doesn’t know the difference between work and play. If you’re any type of minority, the extra wide, tall, I guess “woman” bartender purposely make you wait 10-20 minutes to be attended, even if she’s already attended everyone, even if it’s nearly empty. She rather talk than attend customers. Or she will refuse to serve you if you ask if you may be served (even politely) and give you an attitude/kick you out because she’s “having a bad day”. It’s 2023, this shouldn’t be how things are. Not should it have ever been that way before. However there’s a male bartender there who treats everyone the same and has great customer service. That one lady though has no business bartending. And as a former bartender there’s supposed to be a 3 second grule when a customer walks in and sits down, you’re supposed to greet them. She’s rude, self entitled, clearly doesn’t understand the difference between business and personal and very obviously and blatantly DISRESPECTFUL AND RACIST.
Tony's is a good place to hang out. It is a tight space but there is a back area and a cove area that you can find seating. The white tea shots were good. Long lines for the female bathrooms

Tony's is an iconic bar in Athens, Ohio. It has a cooler filled with a variety of craft and imported beers. A very comfortable place, you instantly feel at home when you enter.

Stop in relax and ask your barkeep for a "Hot Nut."You will not be disappointed. If you like coffee and hazelnut (even if you don't like hazelnut) this item is amazing.
