Ordered the Crawfish Etouffée. Was very bland. Had to season it with my own creole spices when I got home. Fruit cobbler was edible so I give the experience 1 star. Unless their roux is just bad and everything else is good I might try them again. But after that I’m extremely hesitant. You spelled my name wrong and it's right there.

We tried some jambalaya and crawfish cheese dip with nachos. Both were delicious. Service was very hospitable. We were told we could try samples ahead of time, and we did.Prices are very reasonable. We saw most people take their orders to go, but they have a nice area indoors and out.

Good food but I called ahead 25 minutes because I had my dog and it was hot. When I went in there was one couple in front of me. I said I had a carry out and the guy said he had been to busy. It probably takes less that 60 seconds to toss some rice and some gumbo in a bowl and put a lid on it. Also they advertise poboys and wraps but when I called he said they sold neither. My 2nd and last time going there.

Just had the crawfish etouffee. The people were nice, the parking was stupid, the place is super plain, they offer all the extras as if they come with it making your $9.50 bowl cost $13. None of that would matter if the food was good. It is not. Flavorless Cajun food must be hard to make. With enough hot sauce, it tasted like a spicy bowl of spaghetti-os. I left, still hungry, looking for somewhere else close by to eat.

I had lunch at J. Gumbo's today. I had the intention of having some Bourbon Chicken and have room for Cobbler when I was done. I LOVE Cobbler. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the Cobbler today. I'm going to have to make a special trip just for dessert I guess. The Bourbon Chicken was good, the restaurant was very clean and the staff was very aware if I needed anything. If you are trying to figure out what to have for lunch or dinner, give them a try. They serve the kind of food that is not on your "regular rotation" and that's a great thing. PLEASE don't be afraid of Cajun food, it doesn't need to be extra spicy but, if you like that, J. Gumbo's will help you in the right direction. If you like a more mild meal they've got you covered too. Too sum it up, good food, served in a friendly atmosphere, by great people.Parking: They have a good sized parking lot, if it's full the city's paid lot is just behind the building.

This place always feels like home. I usually get food to go and my family has different favorites - bumble bee stew, white bean chili, and the gumbo. Always the cornbread! They are so friendly and Richard and his team do a lot for the community. Support local!

It was our first time here and our last. Nothing had any flavor. I was expecting a little heat in the food, but there was absolutely none. We got shrimp etouffee nachos, but it just tasted like flour. The gumbo at Popeye's tasted better. I can't even remember what I ordered, that's how unremarkable it was.Whoever said the atmosphere here was great is lying. The venue used to be Amanda Plumbing, an old service garage, and besides a few pictures on the wall and a fresh-ish coat of paint, it looked and felt like an old service garage. Cheap tables and chairs, too.The person who served us, who I think might be the owner, was very nice, though.

I was really excited to try this place out and I had their gumbo. The best way I can describe gumbo is...boring. It lacked a decent heat, flavor not temperature. I also had their crawfish cheese dip. It tasted like it had been sitting out all day. Didn't taste fresh. The staff was very friendly. The inside of the restaurant felt like a car garage.

My first visit I got the shrimp etouffee carryout and it was very good. On my second visit I dined in and got the jambalaya and it was sadly mostly rice so very disappointed. It was lukewarm and I had to ask the person on duty to put it in the microwave to heat it up. I think they need to examine the steam table to make sure everything is served nice and hot to guests.

I have been under the weather all week. I was trying to think of something comforting, warm and delicious. I immediately thought of Richard and his awesome food. Great service, great food; it definitely hit the spot!

Have been wanting to try J Gumbo’s for some time and it did not disappoint! Wish I had made the effort to go sooner! It was absolutely delicious! The representative that assisted me with our meals was professional and personable and extremely helpful offering samples and accommodating with all of our dietary parameters which is no small feat. We can’t wait to visit again! Thank you so much!!

Good food. We got the nachos with honey sriracha chicken and it was awesome. The worker gave us a suggestion and let us try it first. Love their new location. Nice and clean with a nice attached parking lot.
