Restaurantji's guide to Lewis Center's top Mexican dining experiences.
“Good food, friendly people, fast service! My wife and I have driven by this food truck a hundred times, but never stopped. Today, we had the opportunity to have a lunch date, so we figured we'd give it a try. I had the beef street tacos with everything, my wife had the birria tacos, and we both had the esquites. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. My wife especially enjoyed the birria dipping broth. The salsa was also very good, but if you're sensitive to spicy foods, I'd stay away from it. However, I thought it had just the right amount of heat. Portion sizes were appropriate for the price. If you're in the area, I recommend you stop by and check out El Tuzo Taco! We'll definitely be back and can't wait to try something different next time.“
“This guy has it going on, I’m a contractor that shops at Menards in Lewis center where he has had his food truck for over a month now. I eat his food quite often and it is fresh, made to order and delicious! Service is top notch. My wife and I drive from Marysville to Lewis center just to get his food.“
“Delicious!! We where planning on going to Texas Roadhouse, but the wait wait was over an hour... so we pulled into this cute place, and decided this, since we love Mexican food ? and it was yummy! We even hit happy hour! We where happy! “
“The server asked these people to calm down and they told the server to "F off". It seemed like the server did everything they could but she needed a manager to kick them out. These people ruined our experience and should have protocols to print these people for taking over. These people where harassing us due to not being ok with their vocab, we would have stayed longer. These people followed us out.“
“Portions are large. Service is excellent. Food has always been good here. Has a large menu, with different price levels. Lunch specials served until 4:00 pm, which is a plus.Parking: Parking is in front of restaurant, which is in a strip mall. Gets really busy on the weekends.“
“The food here is fantastic! It's homemade and served quickly. We've tried appetizers, entrees, and desserts, and everything is delicious. While my favorite is the grape leaves, you can't go wrong with a gyro or a piece of baklava. This family-owned restaurant is definitely a favorite spot!“
“the vibes were immaculate. the atmosphere is wonderful, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is delicious. I’ve never had such flavorful refried beans or yellow rice, and the meat on the tacos was tender and delicious. will def be coming back to try more of their menu !!“
“We have eaten here several times and the food and service are top notch! They have some flavorful selections that are unlike anything I've found at other Mexican restaurants. It looks like they gave a talented artist free reign on murals and painted patterns on walls and ceilings. The owners and staff obviously take a lot of pride in the quality of the food & overall experience. Highly recommend!“
“Absolutely loved this place! The food was amazing, sometimes its hard to find mexican restaurants worth eating at but this one is not like the others and is so worth it! I had an asada torta with a side of fries! Most delicious torta ive had in so long! Come visit if youre able to you will not regret it.“
“Just tried this place today! It’s wonderful that they have so many vegan options! I got a vegan torta and it was delicious, the people were extremely kind and they deserve their own building! You can tell they really enjoy their job and are amazing at it :)) I will be coming back!“
“The food was excellent and authentic. This place is always busy. The atmosphere is authentic also, although it is an older looking place. It is in a strip mall so parking is usually an issue. For most, the good quality of the food overrides the issues.Parking: Parking is shared with several businesses.“
“Muy rico! I was very impressed. Great service great food. It’s authentic and the tortillas are homemade even the flour ones which I’ve never had except in Mexico. So very pleased to see that. I wish there was one in Dayton. They’re tacos suadero I a brisket style Mexican beef and it’s rare to find in America, so cool that they make it.“
“I was won over from the beginning with their salsa and it just got better from there. I would have added a pic but the tacos were too good to take a break from. I'll def be going back.Vegetarian options: Veggie tacos (so good!) and Avocado tacos“
“My wife, child and I went to eat on a Sunday afternoon (April 2024). We arrived and told that we could choose a table to our liking. The staff tended to us within a minute or two. We tried the carne asada, suadero tacos, mole oaxaqueño. All dishes had excellent flavor! It has been years since I've tried Mexican food with such good flavor from the beans, rice, to every single item we ordered. We will definitely be back to this place. I can see this becoming one of the best real Mexican restaurants in Columbus.“
“The food was delicious. I got the chicken and steak fajitas, and the queso was the perfect amount of spiciness. The food was so flavorful. The service was great. What I liked about the atmosphere is the beautiful paintings and the lighting fixtures. The only thing is that there are not enough parking spots because it it shared with other businesses. I personally would give this place a 9/10.“
“The birria tacos were bursting with flavor, and the meat was incredibly tender. The consommé that came with it was the perfect complement, rich and savory. The service was prompt and friendly, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. I’ll definitely be coming back for more of these mouthwatering tacos. Highly recommended!”Esta auténtica birria en Ohio es simplemente excepcional. ¡No te la puedes perder!”“
“When you're looking for a traditional diner, this is definitely it. My boys and I love going here because they have breakfast food and in the afternoons they have Mexican food. This is the very traditional diner that you can go and enjoy lunch at the counter. Or stop in with friends and/or family and sit at 1 of the tables.“
“Taqueria Guadalajara in Columbus, Ohio is an absolute culinary gem! From the moment you step inside, you're transported to the vibrant streets of Mexico City. The atmosphere is lively, the aromas are intoxicating, and the flavors are simply out of this world. Each dish is a masterpiece of authentic Mexican cuisine, bursting with freshness and authenticity. The tacos? Perfection in every bite, with tender, juicy meats and mouthwatering salsa. The enchiladas? Heavenly, with just the right amount of cheese and sauce. And don't even get me started on the guacamole – it's like a taste of paradise! But what truly sets Taqueria Guadalajara apart is the warm and welcoming hospitality of the staff. They treat you like family from the moment you walk in, ensuring that every visit is a memorable one. If you're in Columbus and craving Mexican food that's not only delicious but also soul-satisfying, look no further than Taqueria Guadalajara. It's an experience you won't soon forget!“
“My favorite Mexican restaurant. The drinks are consistent indefinitely. Every once in a while they screw up my order slightly- but that's fine - it's still delicious. Get their tableside guac. I'm sensitive to sodium and never have an issue there.“
“The place was nearly empty when I arrived. I was told to i could sit anywhere, so I grabbed a booth. The bartender brought me a menu and the obligatory chips and salsa. He also took my order. He apologized several times for the meal taking so long to come out, I was in no rush so I didn't mind or notice. My Loco Burrito arrived and it was enormous, as well as delicious. Had I not eaten an entire basket of chips I would have ate the whole thing!Parking: Huge shared lot with plenty of parkingWheelchair accessibility: Easy access in and out for wheelchairs“
“The food here is literally so delicious ? The service is excellent. Very nice, very friendly. This will be our new favorite place. We got the birria ramen, birria pizza, Carne asada Street tacos, Baja shrimp taco, Carne asada, and horchata. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS “
“Delicious! I paid $24 for two orders of birria tacos which come with 3 tacos each and some sauces. Only took 13 minutes to receive. Very filling and fresh. Good customer service! Location is a little weird but there is parking. Accepts card.“
“A symphony of textures between the delicious proteins, variety of cheeses and salsas, freshly-grilled fajita vegetables, topped with chopped cilantro, tortilla strips and queso.Friendly service, Clean dining area, plenty of parking and safe part of town.Strongly Recommend the seasoned rice, the juicy grilled adobo chicken, queso diablo, chile crema, and cotija cheese!“
“An easy 5-stars. When the weather is great the patio where you can watch high street makes it 6 stars. This is my go to place before concerts on the north end of Columbus. I wish I had more details to add; but I felt a need to do a quick review. If you want cheap Mexican, pick a different location. If you want quality at the expected price, Chapala hits the spot.“
“We had a really good experience here. The place is big so can seat a lot of people. We arrived at dinner time on taco Tuesday and were immediately seated. The waiter was prompt and personable. Our food was delicious. My only complaint is they charge $8 for about a cup of guacamole. It's really good, but come on, have you been to Blue Agave? They serve a huge bowl tableside for less than that.“
“If you enjoy mexican food, you will love Taqueria Ay Caramba! Ample parking and a drive through in an easy to access location. Service is prompt and friendly. Excellent Mexican food at a reasonable price. Sometimes a little too loud with the background music, but typically conversation friendly. One request: please add black beans to the menu.“
“I recently had the chance of visiting Bubbakoo's Burritos in Ohio, marking my second visit after enjoying the deliciousness of their New Jersey location. Just like the first time, Bubbakoo's did not disappoint! My group and I tried two of their unique offerings: the Nashville Hot Chicken Bowl and the General Tso's Burrtodilla. Both dishes were bursting with flavor and lived up to the hype. The Nashville Hot Chicken had a perfect kick, while the General Tso's Burrtodilla offered a delightful sweet and savory combination.Beyond the consistently delicious food, what truly sets Bubbakoo's apart is their commitment to individuality. Each location boasts a unique, location-specific design, making each visit a fresh and fun experience.Overall, Bubbakoo's Burritos has become a must-stop for me whenever I travel. They offer fantastic food, a fun atmosphere, and a commitment to local flair.I highly recommend checking them out!“
“10/5 stars and will forever be my favorite taco truck! I always order the chicken tacos just the way they come and they are the exact same every single time! After ordering at the truck, I stop inside for some fresh pineapple juice and wait for my order to be ready! The inside area has plenty of drinks and snacks. They typically have horchata and pineapple juice on a daily basis. The mild salsa is something that I dream of on a daily basis!“
“This place has the best birria tacos I’ve ever had, with a very polite staff and quick service. I waited in my car, and they signaled me to come over within 5 minutes for a Burrito, 6 Birria tacos, and a quesadilla. All very good, but the Birria was amazing. All for a very low cost for the high quality you get. Would highly recommend.“
“Mixed bag. Clean and festive atmosphere. Poor service. ( slow / mistake in order) Solid food overall. Chips were good but the salsa was very mild and not super taste. My burrito was good. The steak inside was done well and tender. The refried beans were good. If I lived in Columbus I would look for something better but still be willing to go back“
“I got the “La Casita” Fajitas which included grilled steak, chicken, shrimp and mushrooms. On the side was flour tortillas, beans, mexican rice, guac, sour cream and pico. The service at La Casita was great and our waiter was very attentive. The food overall wasn’t quite that tasty overall. The salsa which came with free chips at the beginning was quite bland and didn’t have a lot of flavor. The sizzling plate of fajita meat had quite a lot more ratio of vegetables than it did meat. Overall the experience was nice but the food is just not worth going back for in my opinion.“
“Stopped here for lunch over the weekend and was not disappointed! We had a large group so we tried a little bit of everything. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and fast. I would definitely stop here again if I was in the area.“
“Excellent bar selection, an ambiance of friendly, but refined culture in the decor, concise and warm service, and especially the amazingly great food. All around, they have earned my business and the above rating. Try them out, I'll be surprised if your experience is different!“
“Martina went above and beyond tonight ! She was managing a lot of tables and did a magnificent job! It was my husbands birthday and she overheard us talking and surprised him with a dessert! It was really good too! Martina did an excellent job and went the extra mile for his birthday tonight!“
“It's hard for me to describe my experience here because I literally could not taste anything. My nose was congested and I took a cough drop, which is an anesthetic, right beforehand. Also, the wind blew my taco al pastor onto the bricks. I ate the taco anyway but I think I ate some rocks too. It was very sad but I will not let that interfere with what I'm sure was a very delicious meal. OK BUT FOR REAL the workers were very friendly and kind! This place also seems very popular as they had a steady stream of mobile orders in addition to the people rolling up irl. I thought the prices here were incredibly cheap too! I got four tacos for like $10? I highly recommend this place if you're in the area, the weather is nice, and you wanna just vibe at the back of a Marathon munching on some yommy yommy tacos“
“This is the most delicious and best value out there! We ordered dinner for three and it was enough for lunch the next day and all of it was only $50! They give you a large bag of chips and the salsa and queso are yummy! Will definitely order again!“
“What El Vaquero used to be before it kept raising prices. Lots big groups and families packed in with margarita specials and great service.Sunday mornings are a treat with Brunch served buffet style that includes classics and Mexican specialties. The owner/chef introduced himself a few visits ago and was great to talk with, hearing about his restaurant and style. It gets busy but rarely a long wait.“
“Had lunch with the grandson. He enjoyed the chips and salsa and his hotdog. We ordered Chicken enchiladas and both a chicken and beef chimichanga. The chimichangas were quite tasty as were the enchiladas. The service was good and the ambiance of the dining area was great.“
“Best chili rellenos I've had since moving back from Phoenix. Tamales are awesome. They use a more coarse grind masa for their tamales and it's very different, but in the best way possible. The chicken filling was great too. Guacamole is different in that the flesh of the avocados was not pulverized, but diced. Salsa, chips, beans, rice - it was all pretty good. I was surprised with the food. The atmosphere is cool with all of the day of the dead artwork and barrio theme. I thought this was going to be another run of the mill "Mexican/Texmex" place. I was wrong. I'm very happy to say so!“
“Vegetarian options: I have had a vegetarian burrito here and it was amazing. They are great cooks and the service is superb.Parking: Lot right next to the restaurant holds at least 20 cars.Kid-friendliness: They have multiple high chairs and kid friendly options on the menu for kids. They even have chicken nuggets and fries for the kids that don't want anything Mexican.Wheelchair accessibility: Restaurant is on the first floor with 2 wheelchair accessible doors.“
“Good food & very friendly, understanding, and helpful wait staff. I ordered on line accidentally to a different location and the waitress who helped me was extremely gracious and understanding. Their guacamole is delicious & fresh. Also like the grilled fish taco & my daughter loves the taqueria, especially the green sauce & my son will eat a whole order of Queso on his own!“
“Went there for lunch the day of the eclipse. Kelsey was an awesome server and deserves a raise. My wife and I were treated with respect by her and the rest of the staff. Yes, that should be the default, but we have gotten some odd looks, side comments, and lackluster service because we're a lesbian couple.Best chain Tex Mex food we've had for sure. The queso was flavorful and the included chips, salsa, and jalapeno cream sauce were tasty and freshly made. As New Mexico ex-pats, we were also delighted that Hatch green chile was available! Having it on our burritos was like a trip back in time. Kelsey asked if we wanted chips to go without us asking first, which is always the best part of having leftovers from Tex Mex restaurants. Our friends who visited for the eclipse enjoyed it a lot as well. Will be back for sure.“
“Why is no one talking about their sopes?! It holds so much food - if you were going to get 4 tacos, maybe get one less if you’re going for the sopes. Any meat with them is great but the top for me are suadero and lengua. I left stuffed and with enough for another meal the next day!“
“DOS SABORES MEXICAN GRILL AND CANTINA is Fabulous ?. LOVE my shrimp ? & chicken ? fajitas. It was some of the best food I've tasted in a while. I got my meal on the go, I still enjoyed it as if I sat in the restaurant. And the customer service was Great ?. They were so Nice ?. I will definitely be back soon.Vegetarian options: They have it on the menuDietary restrictions: They have it on the menu“
“My favorite Mexican place.... One of the best places for guacamole. They also have a spicy salsa that you can ask for.I have been coming here for many years. The owners are absolutely amazing and have treated my entire family with kindness. They have a broiled fish that is amazing.... And I am not a fish person, usually eat the chimichanga or the steak. They always treat us very well and always have great service. The people are one of their greatest assets.I remember once when my kids (in highchairs) made a mess... My wife and I were trying to clean it up before we left.... And they said... Don't worry about that, we have a broom and can take care of it. I would leave some of a mess and tip well to cover it. They treated us so well my "I don't eat Mexican" wife wanted to go there all the time. It helped that their broiled fish is amazing. Lately my wife has been getting chicken and rice. That is the family favorite. They have the best cheese dip I have had and numerous people agree. My celiac family has no problem eating there.A Pepsi place. Love the margaritas! One of the few places you can actually get spicy food. Sometimes I have them add hot peppers to my dish. If you want it really spicy, they have a shrimp dish just for you.“
“Food was really good and the service was decent. However, after we left, my credit card was charged an amount I did not agree to. Someone added an even 30.00 to my check and charged my card that amount without my authorization at the restaurant. It couldn't have been a mistake as the amount added was not a simple digit off from my tip. Very shady... hopefully someone will reach out now that I left this review to discuss the matter since I haven't been able to reach anyone in two days now. The phone number to the restaurant appears to be a cell phone....UPDATE: Restaurant reached out and made things right with the charges on my credit card. Updating stars accordingly.Update 2023: raised to 5 stars. We frequent this restaurant and have never had another issue like above. The service is outstanding each and every time we come.“
“Food is fresh and tasty, and the hot and mild sauces are very good, too! Service is friendly. As far as the atmosphere goes, it is a food truck/ trailer, I just wish it was in a better part of the hood. Will definitely keep going back for sure.Parking: located in a tiny strip mall parking lot next to a major pharmacy chainWheelchair accessibility: Located on an asphalt parking lot“
“The food was good, quite good actually. The service was lackluster, it was almost like the server was not paying enough attention or the language barrier was too far for our server. Multiple errors in our beverages, etc. Nothing really significant but noticeable. The atmosphere was good. All things considered, it was a good trip, however, I was recently at another el vaquero restaurant in Hilliard, Ohio. I would prefer to go to that restaurant than this one.“
“Wow, this Mexican restaurant rocks...I am usually critical of Mexican restaurants, but today, I was impressed. This place was spot on. Typically, Mexican restaurants all serve the same mediocre Mexican food with poor service. Tomatillos surprised me...The restaurant has a great atmosphere and very cool decor. The service was spot on - Samuel is a Rockstar waiter. The food was awesome - I had the Aztec burrito in a bowl with their salad, which was awesome - wifie had Pollo Loco, which she loved. The pricing was fair for the quality of the experience. I believe if you are tired of mediocre Mexican restaurants, this might be a great choice for you.“
“Came in for dinner on a Thursday evening. Pretty empty so we were seated promptly. The inside ambience is fairly plain. Service was prompt and accommodating. Chips and salsa tasted fresh. Chips were warm and crispy and light. Guacamole tasted fresh, very good though I would have liked a larger portion.. Queso was standard queso. I ordered the chicken chimichangas. Authentic tasting, not as crispy as I've had in the past. My wife is vegetarian and although they do not have many vegetarian options they were accommodating and made the enchiladas vegetarian. Wife said they tasted great. Menu in general is not large. Overall very good. Overall very good. Will be back.“
