Food is always great, daily special deviled egg everyday which is one of my favorite parts about this place. Service is excellent, building is beautiful and well maintained. Outdoor seating is very nice and fenced in, great place to see live music or play trivia.

I love the historic building - so much character. The back patio is very nice too and love that when it's warm they have live music sometimes. Really good Moscow mules. Love the Saratoga chips & dips. Only thing is I wish one of the dips would have a bite of spice to it! They're all very good but a dip or sauce options with some heat would be awesome. Otherwise everything else is amazing and everyone is polite!

A very cozy restaurant in Middletown. We stopped after a long drive and loved the experience. The waitress was super nice and we loved the food. Can't wait to go back!

We love eating here! Good quality food with unique options. Even the kids chicken fingers are good. The old building it's in is really cute as well.

Wife and I were there for the first time on 3/15/24 around 6:30 pm. We were seated right away because we had reservations for 6:45 pm, and it was almost a thirty minute drive from our home. We try to support smaller local restaurants once a week. Once we were seated, we waited about 15 minutes before we were asked if we had been helped. We ordered water while we looked over the menu and cocktail menu. Our cocktails came, both were good(strawberry vanilla old fashion and a sangria). We placed our order for the pretzel sticks and beer cheese, they were both hot and great! We placed our order for our meals, I ordered the fish and chips, because it's Friday and Lent, wife ordered the salmon with mashed potatoes. Our food arrived at the table in about 15 to 20 minutes, both looked fabulous. Now her is where the issue began, our food was barely warm, there is nothing worse that cold fried, mashed potatoes, and fish, especially beer battered fish because the batter no longer sticks to the fish, so now you are eating this soggy pile of mess. My wife's salmon was not warm or hot, so the glaze in it was also cold! I will say the taste of the food was good, I would say great, but it was cold! The tartar sauce that came with the fish and chips was very tasty. The restaurant was not busy at all, so I don't understand why the food was cold. I will say our waiter and the young lady that cleared our table were very nice and were dressed nice and neat. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also very nice. It was a long drive for some cold food, but we both said we would return to give them a second chance to get it right!?

Oh my!!! Dinner at The Swire Inn in Middletown OH is an absolute delight! I got the beef pot roast and John got fish and chips but ordered onion rings instead of fries. This food is the best pub-type food we've had since we visited England! The pot roast is tender and flavorful with baby carrots that are still crunchy. The mashed potatoes were originally real potatoes - they're lumpy and so good! I had to have a taste of John's onion rings because they looked soooo good, and wow! The onion almost melted in my mouth, it was so tender, and the breading was amazing! Sweetish, light and flakey - John said it tastes like tempura. The fish pieces were so huge, John had to break them in half to manage them by hand. And first was the appetizer! Bourbon pecan deviled eggs were tonight's special. Outstanding! Sweet and warm filling and so tasty! John just told me not to finish this post until we have dessert! We ordered the Fluffer Nutter bread pudding with a creme brulee top. No calories there!! LOL We'll definitely be back! Yum!!

The Swire Inn is located in the historic district of Middletown on Main Street across from the Sorg Opera House. There was plenty of parking available on the street. Upon arriving my guest and I were seated immediately and had our drink and appetizer order taken. I ordered a cup of clam chowder soup which was wonderful and for dinner I had the glazed salmon with vegetables and white rice. The glazed salmon had a good taste and the rice and vegetables was just ok. We had good service and I would consider returning here to eat.

I've been here a few times and each time the food, service, and ambience are always the same...outstanding! The thing that sticks out most is the top notch service. The servers are friendly, knowledgeable, and quick.

Everything was great but very SLOW! It was about an hour and a half wait for our dinner. I understand it was Valentine's Day & busy but I would think this would be accounted for when scheduling. Our waitress was very sweet. Food was good.

The service was AMAZING!!! Food was pretty good. If you are thinking of visiting the Swire Inn please go and try it. The restaurant was very clean. I had the Chicken,Bacon, Ranch Flatbread with a cauliflower crust, it was good. I had leftovers and ate it for lunch the next day and it was good.

Very good service from the waitstaff. The food we got was good, and reasonably priced. Disappointed that the entree both of us first ordered was gone, and our server wasn't informed it was off menu until AFTER we ordered. Disappointed that my online request when placing our reservation weeks earlier for a regular table wasn't honored, and we were seated at a tall table anyway.

Fish wasn't cooked correctly it was wet and whats cheese curds without the marinara sauce. The waitress brought ranch and when I made a face she commented "don't hate me over it". I was like well I don't hate you over it But maybe you could have ask us before you just dumped it on our table. Probably would have cancelled the curds. The evening cost 70+ and i eat pretzels and cheese. Thanks for listening.

We made reservations a few days before for a table for four people at 6:30 PM. Our plan was to attend an event across the street at Sorg after dinner. It was moderately busy. We sat upstairs, and there was only one other table with folks up there with us. We ordered drinks and food about 45 minutes after we arrived, I was told they were out of deviled eggs; which is what I had ordered for an appetizer. At about 7:53 PM we were told that our dinner would not be ready in time for us to attend the show across the street, which started at 8 PM. We were giving option of going ahead and paying for our meal and picking it up at intermission, or cancel our order. We went ahead and canceled it as we felt we had no other choice. With the temperatures being below 20° outside we weren't sure how we would go about eating our meal at intermission. We went to the show but left at intermission due to being really hungry by that point. We ended up picking up a pizza from Cassano's and I have to say it was excellent. This is the third time in a row we have had a horrible experience at the Swire Inn. Suffice to say I will not be eating here again.
