“When planning a small birthday celebration for our daughter the first thought of food that crossed our mind was Great Lakes Grinders. We contacted them and easily selected a tray of our favorite grinders along with our favorite pasta salad and potato salad. The day we picked everything up was a breeze! The excitement to be able to eat a tray of grinders and sides in February was over the top! Every bite was amazing! Out of town friends experienced their first taste of Great Lakes Grinders and shared their appreciation for the deliciousness! There’s nothing quite as satisfying as a grinder!”

The steaks were cooked perfectly with a fresh sear that stayed on the outside and such a tender and even cook inside. Decor is really cute and made a great dinner date atmosphere. Charity, the restaurants’ general manager, and her team went above and beyond to make the evening so incredibly memorable and perfect. Charity made sure Mr. Sortino himself stopped by to meet us and spend time with us- making our night even more special 💕. Don’t even get me started on the food! Everything was delicious. Highly recommend the Chicken Marsala and the Anti-Pasta Board. Only complaint is how far away from us Sortino’s is (we live in Virginia) ☺️. “My daughter and I came in this afternoon after volunteering for the iron man we were starving… we sat at another downtown restaurant for over 20 minutes being completely ignored while everyone around us was being served so we ended up leaving and coming here… we sat outside a women greeted us at the door apologized and said there was only one server outside so it might be a minute.. which was amazing considering the last place we were at. We had a guy server can’t remember his name but he was great.. even though we did wait for a minute it was okay because we were acknowledged and not ignored. Server was super friendly and nice the food was DELICIOUS! 10/10 experience, we will definitely be back!”

The food did take a while to come out, but our server Seth was very obviously going out of his way to speed the process up and get it to us. Something else I appreciated was how kind and respectful he was to us. As someone who works in a restaurant I know how frustrating it can be working late and things are going wrong and for him to be so nice and kind the whole time was great to see. This was definitely some of the best service I’ve ever had anywhere, so thank you Seth for being chill!!”

If you get both the chicken as part of your meal and Tina as your server, you will not be disappointed. Everything was amazing and will leave you full and satisfied. I only took one star on the overall rating because seating was cramped, but then again I am 6'5" so I guess that makes a difference. However what make my experience exceptional was the service. Our waitress name was Dianna. Wow, she is awesome. She took care of us better than any waitress that I have had probably ever, and that is saying something because I've been around for a wh ile and love to eat out. She kept our drinks full and everytime we needed something she was there and got it for us quickly and didn't forget anything. And believe me, they were super busy, but our family needs were met very very quickly and always with a smile. Dianna, I hope you and your boss can read this, I want to thank you for such a great experience. You have a new customer at least as long as you work there.”

The service was fast, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating and has a convenient location right in downtown Sandusky.

Prices are reasonable, and street parking is available nearby.

Overall, a great place for tasty food, local beer, and friendly service. We really enjoyed our visit and would definitely come back!”

“Patina Porch has become one of our absolute favorite places. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is airy, welcoming, and full of charm. The staff are just as warm as the space itself. They’re always happy to adjust things to your tastes, and as someone with a gluten allergy, it means a lot that they genuinely take it seriously and go out of their way to make sure I’m taken care of. My fiancé Chad and I also love browsing the beautiful antiques, upcycled items, and plants. It makes every visit feel like a little experience beyond just stopping in. Over time, the staff have become friends, and we’ve even met new friends along the way while spending time there. It’s also one of our favorite places to bring people who are visiting or to introduce friends to, because we know they’ll love it as much as we do. We also love their trivia nights on Thursdays. It’s always a fun reason to come back and spend time there. Patina Porch is one of those rare places that feels both special and comfortable at the same time, and we’re always happy to come back.”

“Genuinely Pizza House West has the best pizza I've had. Its nothing glamorous, but the slice is perfect. Cheese stays on perfectly the crust is incredible and the sauce is robust. The dough is made with cornmeal instead of flour from what I know. The other options are great too. Specialty pizzas are creative and the wings are incredible. People sleep on PHW cause they dont understand just how much better they are than all your other options in Sandusky.”

“We visited last week while renting a condo about a block from Tony's for a week. We found this place by accident, just strolling thru town. Our son wanted wings and it was the first place with a menu our family of 4 could all agree upon. We came in from the back and up the patio to enter and weren't sure what to put expect. We were impressed with the interior and that it was the first restaurant (4th overall in Sandusky on our trip) with an adequate cooling system. We were all impressed with our choices. My husband had the Greek cheesesteak and loved it. I couldn't decide between the mac & cheese hot dog or the French Dip. Our server JP a suggested the French Dip and I have to say it is one of the best I've ever had. I think their seasoned mayo is what makes their sandwiches! The daughter and I both got the mac and cheese. She said it was the best mac & cheese she's ever had and she's never impressed. If we are ever back in Sandusky, we're definitely coming back!”

I asked for help because I couldn't find one, and Jen went in the back to look (twice), got one out of the freezer, and then wrote on it for me with icing, smiling the whole time. “The quality of our local steak and shakes have significantly improved along with the staff. Much cleaner, tastes better, and even seems more filling than it used to. On top of that the new company policies like banning microwaves, beef tallow for their fried goods, and grass fed beef for the burgers. It went downhill a while ago but I can definitely say it has done a complete 360 and has honestly been one of our families favorite quick fast food locations now. Definitely better than McDonald's.”

Here's the best part, my burger was a mistake and I was given the wrong burger. Best mistake ever and I'll get it again (inferno burger). The owner stopped by and chatted for a bit and our waitress had owned her goof, even though we were completely content; we were sent off with my original ordered burger and my wife was given a duplicate to make up for it. incredible service, staff and food!
