I got the lunch special Basa with chips & I must say, it’s very delicious especially when you pair it with the house tartar sauce !!!Will definitely be coming back just for the halibut (see what I did there?). Not the fanciest place, but without a doubt the best fish & chips we’ve found in Toronto. Tiny storefront with friendly staff whipped up excellent fish, the chips and coleslaw were fine and only the tartar sauce let us down a bit being factory made.We’ll be back for more — I want to try the scallops!Parking: Angle parking right in front.

My son noticed Captain John's one day while driving along Donlands and last week he suggested that we give them a try. I'm so glad we did! Rather than using a service, we ordered directly by phone to the restaurant. As it was Saturday evening, I was told there would be a 30-35 minute wait, which I expected and was fine with. For our family of four, I ordered the Haddock Family meal (10 pcs fish + 3 orders of chips) and it included a large coleslaw and tartare sauce. I arrived in good time and had a short wait before receiving our piping hot food. The owner was gracious and pleasant. At home my family was extremely pleased with the freshness of the fish, the amount of batter, its texture as well as the fries. The homemade coleslaw is absolutely delicious. The amount of food could easily feed a family of 5. We had a lot of leftovers and it barely cost $70! We have a few F&C options closer to home, but I don't think they compare to Captain John's. We will be back!

Ordered off of Uber eats! This is an amazing restaurant. Portion sizes were amazing and the fish was fresh. Loved the seafood platter the shrimp really impressed me. I would order here again forsure. You get your moneys worth!Packaging was neat.Side note coleslaw doesn’t come with its typical fish and chips combo. And they don’t give a lot of malt vinegar and tartar sauce.

GO TO CAPTAIN JOHN DONLANDS NOW! Don't walk, RUN! Talk about exceeding ALL expectations. First time trying their food tonight, and it won't be my last. Extremely impressed. Where do I start? I got their seafood platter, fish, shrimp, scallops, fries & coleslaw — it was a huge portion and it was pretty affordable, too! Their fish was lightly battered, the fish itself was as fresh as it gets, tender, snow white and flaky. Their battered shrimps were big, juicy, cooked to the right golden colour. Their scallops - wow - I never knew scallops could taste this GOOD! They were cooked to perfection, mildly/slightly sweet, melt-in-your-mouth texture. The french fries must've been handcut with skins still on them, also cooked perfectly and very tasty. The coleslaw I'm assuming is homemade because it was fresh, crisp, refreshingly flavourful. Honestly, every single thing I had from them was 10/10, insanely delicious — and I'm picky about seafood because my family comes from the maritimes, haha. I also rarely ever write reviews. If you're looking for the best fish and chips, best shrimp, best scallops, best coleslaw in Toronto, look no further! I'm going to tell everyone about this place!

Took my Mother in for a dinner and it was absolutely amazing. Best fish and chips we have ever had. The owner was incredibly nice. It’s not much to look at from outside but worth going in. So good!!!

I really wanted to like this place but the cod and chips I had was simply too greasy. Even looking at it from a value eat perspective I couldn’t give it a pass. Not sure if I was disappointed in part due to the high ratings from others. The staff were nice enough. No seating was available when I went. Seemed like they had set up for takeout only.

First time went here after seeing all reviews but had bad experience the halibut fish and Chips was not good to much batter less fish and fries ware not good wasted $32.75 then went to halibut house it's much better fish here.
