Hidden behind the DQ is an old house converted into a HK cafe. Came for afternoon tea where there was a small selection for afternoon tea. Prices were quite reasonable for some of the items and abit much for some others. Service was good considering a hk cafe. Egg and ham sando - Always judge a hk cafe by the eggs and quality of the bread. Unfortunately, this dish did not excel in either of them. Eggs were not runny, bread was on par with the other restaurants in the area. The chicken leg looks like a value meal, would try that next time I'm here.

This was the most mind-boggling experience I’ve had at a cha chaan teng.TLDR: don’t come here; food is not good but not bad, and the service/business setup is frustratingMy friend and I went there at 12pm noon. I was having lunch and she was having a light brunch. The breakfast menu had eggs and toast (A) + noodles (B) + drink (C) that were available 10am-12:30pm, and you can only do ABC or AC. My friend wanted just BC and there was that combination on the menu starting 12:30pm. She asked the waitress if she could have the BC menu, but the waitress said no. Why can’t she have the noodles, it’s literally the same menu and you already made the food for breakfast? It doesn’t make any sense. Our drinks (cold lemon tea) came first and it was filled to the brim with ice, and the tea could’ve been more rich and fragrant. Food comes, and it’s just average. They also don’t give you all the menus, you have to ask for them. I wanted something from their lunch special menu (that started at 12!) that ended up being cheaper and what I was craving. They cheaped out and heard a Spotify ad over the music. When we first ordered, my friend got ABC and asked to get a takeout container for A, and the waitress said it’ll be $0.25. My friend was alright with it and got it. I couldn’t finish my Kway Teow (which was mid) and asked for a takeout container and they said it was $0.50. We said “hey the other one is just 25 cents” then they said that they didn’t charge for the first one but charge the second one for $0.5?It was so confusing. Their food isn’t even that good to be making all of this so confusing. Go somewhere else and save yourself the headache.

The dry-fried beef river and black pepper beef rib rice are not recommended. The beef river has no other taste except saltiness, while the beef ribs have a strange sour taste. The pricing is aggressive and the restaurant only accepts cash but does not offer any discounts.

Came back to try the hk style toast during afternooon tea. Came already dressed with condensed milk, butter, and peanut butter. It was delicious: salty, sweet, buttery. Not crispy, but too delicious to care. The chicken leg and salad on the afternoon tea menu also looked super popular and tasty. A large portion, definitely looks worth the $8.50.

Randomly found this place on Google Map and I thought I can give it a try since it recently opened.I ordered the baked ox tongue rice with curry sauce and hot YinYang with condensed milk. The curry was decent. it’s very HK style cause they fried the egg in the rice first then bake it. It’s a bit overpriced though. My girlfriend ordered an iced milk tea and pan fried chicken rice with cream sauce. The rice tastes average but the portion is quite big.Yet, the milk tea the worst I have ever tasted here in Toronto. It tasted watery, weak tea flavour and the balance with the milk is way off. This surprised me since they have the award winning cup for milk tea so I was expecting to have something decent. Also having a good milk tea is like a staple for a HK style restaurant. The restaurant is quite small and you can clearly hear what people are saying on the other side of the restaurant.

We got Mini French Toast and Baked Chicken w/ Garlic Sauce on Rice. The Mini French Toast was AMAZING, it came with bite size deep fried Toast, drizzled with Condensed Milk and Peanut Butter, so evil but addictingly good! Baked Chicken w/ Garlic Sauce on Rice was their Lunch Special, the Rice was baked with Cheese, the Garlic Sauce was garlicky, flavourful, it’s got more Chicken than Rice too (totally not complaining?), so GOOD!

Decided to give this place a try after seeing a youtube video of a Asian blogger checking this place out. It seems as there's 2 floors but we were sitting downstairs. Surprisingly, this place has no booster seat or highchair so maybe not the most baby friendly atmosphere for your little one. Here was what we ordered: Shredded Pork w/Pickled Sausage- $12 - For anyone that knows at a Asian cafe, sausage means hot dog. It comes with vermicelli noodle. Its standard and okay. Malay Chao Kuay Teow-$18 - Now I've had many actual Malay Chao Kuay Teow from actual Malaysian restaurants and people that know how to cook this dish. Unfortunately, this place ain't it... For starters, its not this dish, its comparable to a Singapore Curry Noodles but using rice noodles, instead of, vermicelli noodles. It has onions, shredded pork and shrimp, green onion... IMO, this one is the worst dishes I've had in a HK cafe area but also its not Chao Kuay Teow at all... Also the HK milk tea cold they prepare for you is quite sweet actually and lacks any real tea taste. Service was friendly and attentive; however, we came when it wasn't that busy as well. Not sure if we'll visit again as its not baby friendly. Food: 1.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3/5

This new hidden spot is right beside the dairy Queen on 14/Kennedy. It's the historical building that used to be a bubble tea spot. Their tea time special is pretty worth it and portions were large PLUS free cold drink included??? Yes please. We got 2 orders of the crispy chicken leg with a potato salad on the side and of course cold lemon tea and milk tea. And another order of their crispy chicken wings (2) with instant noodles which was also really yummy and they give you the legit instant noodle (doll brand, IYKYK). The chicken was crispy and not dry at all. SO juicy. Okay, some of the cons- the potato salad was bland and the lemon tea was bland. For the price of the tea time, not bad. But if you look at the menu for other stuff, it is up there with the rest. The service is nice and the place is cozy so it can fill up quickly. They have seating downstairs and upstairs. I feel bad for the staff running up and down.

Food: 3/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 I have to preface that this place has a very good atmosphere. The soft music, aesthetics are what I didn't/wouldn't expect from a Hong Kong cafe. It gives the whole place a serene and pleasant vibe versus the traditional loud music and chatter. There's also a lot of seating, with a second floor, which is also unheard of for HK cafes. I'd say that you wouldn't really know you're in a cafe that serves HK food just by going in, but more a coffee and cakes kind of feel, if you know what I mean. The food, which was what I really wanted to know the quality of, was kind of a mixed bag. I myself had the ox tongue, which wasn't a menu item I saw in a lot of HK cafes in live been to in Toronto. My partner had the pork and chicken cutlet with tomato sauce. Our drinks of choice (which came with the meal) were HK milk tea (hot & iced versions). The ox tongue was thickly cut and quite gamey, definitely kind of a chew because it's so thickly cut. I thoroughly enjoyed eating it in small bites with a fork and a knife, although I personally would have preferred if they cut up the meat so it was easier to eat. The dish came with a healthy amount of cheese, baked to a golden brown on top of the rice and four slices of ox tongue. There was A LOT of rice though, which even with the healthy amount of cheese, felt like it needed more. For how much I paid, I certainly got my fair share...of rice. In terms of taste though, it was pretty good. Quite heavy on the salt/MSG though, as I later drank copious amounts of water throughout the night at home. I was just happy the dish came out piping hot, a surely basic requirement for any baked dish that most cafes I've been to in Toronto just somehow fail to provide, which baffles me. My partner's dish was what you really would expect from cutlets. They were neither extravagant nor poorly done. They were just...deep fried cutlets. There was a significant difference in cuts of meat though, with the chicken being thicker and definitely more tender than the pork. I was really hoping the pork would be juicier, but sadly it was just dry. He told me he'd get the chicken next time. But the true let down that was quite the let down for me personally, was the HK milk tea. The hot version looked like a coffee in colour, contrary to the original orange tint that usually HK milk tea had. The aftertaste was quite bitter and the tea was lukewarm. I wouldn't be able to tell that I had ordered a milk tea based on appearance and taste...which unfortunately says a lot. The cold version was just extremely sweet, masking the bitterness of the tea base but made me feel I simply drank a mouthful of liquid sugar. If you ask me if I'd recommend the place, the simple answer is yes, especially if you compare the place with other HK cafes in the area. The ambiance was great, the servers were polite and kind, the portion sizes were really big for the price you pay. But I'd also say there's definitely room for improvement.

It was my first time here and the last time I guess. My friend brought me here and they said they’ve tried their food few times alrdy, they think their food was good. But after this experience, we will never come back, thanks to the server!! I gave 2 stars only because the Fried Pork Chop and no extra charge for cold drinks. We ordered Chicken Steak rice, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Fried Pork Chop Rice, Thai Fried Rice, Ham & Egg Sandwich. The Chicken Steak is a bit overcooked, the meat is not tender and juicy, it’s dried.Hainanese Chicken’s chicken is just so so, rice is ok.The Pork Cutlet is really good, crispy and not oily, and size is big too!!Thai Fried Rice is a bit moist, not dry enough. It tastes like Sweet Chili Thai sauce fried rice.Ham and Egg Sandwich is decent.Good thing is their cold drinks is same price as hot drinks and it’s not small cups. But I guess the price is covered by the meal alrdy. The worst part of the whole experience was we couldn’t finish all our food, so we asked the server to give us boxes to take the leftover home, but the girl told us, first box is free for each table, second box needs to be charged, we were all shocked, since they are not a self-serve low cost restaurant, their price is more on above average side. Also, the first box they gave us was those paper square box that can only fit the half sandwich and there was still half plate of fried rice left!! We were not being unreasonable for asking extra box. Our bill was around $82 after tax and you were charging us for a few cent for box??!!! We should have just take the whole plate of leftover food home and returned the plate after it. We wanted to take the leftover home is just because we don’t want to waste the food, don’t want to waste the chef’s effort to cook the meal, it’s a respect to chef to bring our leftover home as well!!! My friend was so mad and didn’t bother to take anything home at the end…Atmosphere is only so so, the seating is a bit squishy, should have make a few booths if they are charging averagely $15+
