Caterers in Napanee

“I don't usually make posts like this - but I wanted to warn other people of using 'The Catering Company' in Napanee - they came highly recommended to us, and the reviews online were great - but our experience was not. Although dinner was great and the servers did an amazing job - We had a horrible experience using this catering company for our wedding, and would not recommend them to anyone. From the beginning of our communications, they were very unorganized and hard to get ahold of. Along with that we had many issues along the way. -when going over the menu, and placing our order, the owner raved about the homemade pies and cheesecakes, mentioning how they used fresh seasonal fruit (local apples, etc.) - although came with boxes of cheap Presidents Choice pies and cheesecakes and served them to our guests. - a few weeks before the wedding, the owner lost our food order, having to ask again to send our choices to them (although had a formal meeting and chose our food months before.) -the owners were constantly rescheduling our meetings, due to double booking other events - adding an additional $3 to the plate costs when payment was due - that we were quoted and agreed on, and spoked about throughout our months of pre-wedding communication, and when we booked and put our deposit down. - our "floor length" table cloths were not floor lengthed, and were all mismatched. Some for 6ft tables, some 8ft, some white, some Ivory. A lot of them were stained, and discolored, meaning we needed to search through the linens to find the ones we could actually use. - linens were folded/creased so badly that we needed to iron them all before using them, and then steam them when they were on the tables. (Admitting after the wedding that they sent us with their dirty linens from the wedding they did the weekend before - and blamed us afterwards for not contacting them the day of to complain about the linens - although you could call them all day and they wouldn't answer. - when ordering our table runners, the owner ordered the wrong colour on multiple occasions, and took two months to arrange a meeting with me after she said it would be a week until she would have the linens. When we did meet, I asked her twice if she could bring the matching napkins so I could see it all together- she said would but didn't both times - so I never saw the napkins until the wedding, having no idea if they would match, etc. - no day of communication, and did not show up until 30-45 minutes before the event- after my mother called them frantically wondering where they were, with no response. Wgen they arrived, they did not bring catering cloths with dinner- which they specifically told me they provided, so we had to scramble to find other cloths, when guests were waiting. We had to tell them to change cloths on the buffet table the between meal and dessert because it was very dirty with dripped gravy and food stains and they were just putting our cake, cupcakes and dessert on the dirty cloths. - we had to chase them to pay, prior to the wedding, leaving us worried something fell through - they told me they would come by in the morning after the wedding to get the linens and glassware- we waited around at the hall for them but they never showed. Tried calling on 5 occasions while we were cleaning up the hall, leaving three messages throughout the morning with no response. I had to leave everything at the hall and have them arrange to get them another day - which is not the halls responsibility. When discussing these issues after the wedding - they said they didn't know anything about the pies, and weren't sure why they were done this way as they never buy store-bought pies... told us they gave us their box of dirty linens instead of clean ones, noting they would refund me the cost and get back to us on the pie situation (neither happened). Overall very frustrated with the whole experience, and would definitely not recommend.“
