Like eating a delicious cloud! These cream buns come in a variety of flavors such as matcha, red bean, orange and original. It is literally a soft pillowy bread surrounding a cream filling. It not too sweet or heavy but have a smooth, milky and creamy filling. The bun is light as air and so delicious and just melts in your mouth!

Not sure what's with all the complaint about it being over priced. But you get what you pay for. You can taste the quality of the goods. So just pay what you are worth and please stop complaining about not being able to afford it if you can't.

I tried Hattendo for the first time over the weekend and loved it. Firstly, the store is a little tough to find as it's tucked in a corner near the Bay entrance and it's tiny. The cream buns are delicious. I bought ten, tried all the flavours and found that matcha was my favourite. I know some say it's expensive, but when you consider the prices of all higher end dessert like macarons or cream puffs, I actually think their prices are reasonable. I thought the fortune telling (O-Mikuji) decor was a cute addition. I'll be back and recommend it!

This is a high-end Japanese dessert shop. The premium quality is what you pay for. The experience of a Azuki cream bun was delicious. The bun was soft and cream was taste-bud pleasing. The bun definitely created a more dessert-like feel than a meal. Not too sweet. Perfect balance between creaminess and soft-holding of the bun. Great job.

While the quality and taste of the buns are great, I am a bit annoyed about something. I have been buying from this location weekly since February. When I went on Saturday, June 17, the employee behind the counter asked me if I had a points card. I had never heard of it before, as I was never told about it. If that nice employee had not told me, I would not have known a points system existed. I spend a lot of money here weekly and missed out on a lot of points. Not right.

Bought a custard bun and a matcha bun to try. Nothing was impressive and the custard one was so bland.

Delicious buns, very different texture and flavors to typical Canadian cafes. I’ve read many reviews saying $4-5/bun is too expensive - I disagree - have you seen what eggs or bread cost nowadays or even a muffin at Starbucks costs ($3.5 for something that was made with junk ingredients). Anyway thank you to the owners for bringing a bit of Japanese food to Canada :)

Good custard buns at above average price.

The buns are soft and the cream are delicious in a way that’s not overly sweet. What’s not to like. ?

As much as I love Japanese cream buns, I have a hard time recommending Hattendo due to the price. It may be one of my favourite foods in the world, but paying ~$4 for a very small bun that tastes good, but not great, is too steep for me. I'd only visit this place if you're ready to pay up for very brief yet enjoyable delight.
