Overall, it gets noisy and is better suited for takeout, not the soothing kind of coffee shop with enough space to sit down in. “Despite the name, Kranky Cafe is staffed by the nicest, most pleasant people you will find anywhere. The vibe they've created here is everything you could want from a community cafe. I was made to feel so welcome from the first time I walked in, and since then the baristas have cared enough to remember me, learn my name, ask how I'm doing/what I'm up to and follow up on it the next time I'm back, which is sometimes a month or more later. I've really never been to a coffee shop where the baristas show such genuine interest in customers. I'm not naturally very outgoing so I usually don't really get to know staff at cafes that I frequent, but it's not like I feel like these people are forcing me to converse with them, they're just really nice and it is infectious!As wonderful as the people are, I wouldn't be coming back over and over again if the food wasn't equally as wonderful, but it absolutely is. Their baked goods are homemade and it's very evident in the quality - everything tastes so wholesome! The sandwiches and wraps are great - the Big Veg sandwich, my favourite, is a killer vegan option. And they make good drinks too. The espresso drinks are pretty standard but brewed strong (but not TOO strong), and I think all the tea drinks (including the tea lattes and just straight-up tea) are excellent.They offer a lot of variety in the menu. It's not a vegan cafe (there are plenty of meat options) but there are some very good options for vegans: an assortment of vegan baked goods and two vegan sandwiches. They whip up new things from time to time.It's pretty small inside but they have a lot of patio space for when the weather's decent. They have blankets you can use to keep warm. I love the vibe, it's colourful and cozy inside and the patio has a rustic garden feel.This is the place to visit if you need to lift your spirits.“

“River Road is a very nice small Brazilian restaurant located at a kind of remote area of Richmond. The restaurant has the same vibe as family owned restaurants in Brazil, very chill. I’ve tried most of their snacks and they are really good. I really love their esfihas, and French bread which are hard to find. They also sell a variety of frozen snacks that are just as good.“

“I've gone to the Catfe several times but have never tried any of their food or drinks. I come solely for cats! Your visit really just depends on the personality of the cats when you visit! The staff always provide really good service. There's a handy handwashing station at the entrance. Lots of cat toy options to use. The ambiance is very casual, cozy, and clean. It's a little hot in there when the sun is out so beware--it's very exposed due to the large windows. You can easily cool down in shaded areas though. When I came at 1pm, a lot of the cats seemed really sleepy--it must have been siesta time! Most of the cats were really relaxed and didn't run away when you came up to them to pet them. One even sat in my lap for a few seconds before rascaling out. Overall, this place is great for my purposes--cat therapy lol. Not the best cat cafe in Vancouver though.“

Its not a place for more typing or getting FREE WIFI or just for the plugs outlets ( freebie for usages ). Finally! a place called a real CAFE! Great merchandises items selections. They use a nice grade of matcha, prepare the matcha base properly with a matcha whisk, and the matcha to other ingredient ratio has been consistently good!Their hojicha latte and coffee drinks are also very good! LOVE the baked goods here. The staff are also wonderful!It’s located at E Hastings and Garden Dr along the main road (accessible by the R5 bus or 7 Nanaimo). Seating is limited, but the ambience is so cozy.“
