“The owner and staff were so welcoming and accomodating to our food preferences and requests. This was the perfect midway dinner stop on our way home from the beach! Loved the half and half pizza and especially the chicken Caesar pizza! Their wings were baked to perfection and tossed in a honey garlic sauce which paired so well with their ranch. Recommending this to all who love a flavour packed and cheesy pizza!”

“Stopped by Scan & Dram in New Hamburg and had the fish & chips with French fries — absolutely delicious! The fish was perfectly cooked: crispy on the outside, flaky and tender on the inside. The batter wasn’t greasy at all, just light and full of flavour. The French fries were golden, fresh, and seasoned just right — the perfect side to the fish. Portions were generous and everything tasted fresh and well made. Great food, great spot, and definitely somewhere I’d go back to when I’m craving classic fish & chips done right. “I have eaten a truly horrifying amount of sushi in my life. I've sampled the wares of dozens of establishments. This is goooood stuff, very fresh, not doused in cheap sauces, flavorful and made with care. Show them some love!

Edit: coming back four years after my initial review to report that these fine people are still making some of the best sushi you will eat outside of k/w or maybe London. Whatever they do with their fish is truly next level, melt in your mouth stuff.”

Tried Pizza Arca in New Hamburg for the first time today and I liked it so much I couldn’t stop myself from sharing it here.

I’m pretty picky with pizza, so this says a lot. Always good to support a local spot that’s actually doing it right 🍕

“I was starting to think that I was going to drown in a sea of tourist-influenced culinary mediocrity. The beautiful architecture and all its promise. I was thinking that the residents must bake their own bread since I had yet to find a genuine bakery after three days of walking/driving around Stratford. Then all-of-a-sudden - there she was! I don't have the words. Downie Street Bakery produces the kind of bread that Europeans treat with a reverence. These folks put in the time and passion. I was going. to leverage the daylight and tour some more but I had to get back to my friend's lovely historic mansion and dig into this sourdough. I'm talking Mana from Heaven. Too-bad Ontario butter is is such e barrasingly-horrendous crap. I'm going to have to make my own at a top-secret raw milk dairy operation for it to be worthy of such High-Art. Thank you Downie Street Bakery for raising me back up and making me a believer.”
