I love to support local stores and I’ve been to Mabel’s many times over the years and the staff are always friendly, but lately I’ve become disappointed with the food quality and insane price hikes. 6 hot cross buns for $21.99 and they had a weird gasoline type taste to them. Come on guys…look at the competition who are similar to you like Cobbs. They priced 6 at $10.99. That is HALF of what you are charging and theirs were tastier too. I say this from a place of wanting you to succeed in the neighbourhood and not go under due to the prices going up and the quality going down.

Seems ya just can't get away with shouting at a customer in a store you work at anymore!I wanted to get a baguette and acroos the street of my newly aquirred apartment I saw Mabels.I saw that they had half size bagettes that looked a little hard but since it was only 1PM and I figured they couldn't be stale already.I was wrong!Dense and hard sourdough dough and a rock hard crust! They were in wtithin reach near the entrance so I took the one I wanted.Suddendly from somewhere I heard an extremely loud and aggressive ''Could you please not touch the bread and let us get it for you!?!?''It was embarrasing since the store was full of people.I brought the loaf to the front as he (a rather tall and red in the face ginger-haired lad) said to me,''Well since you've already done it...'').In the future,a sign might work better than bellowing at the top of your lungs at a new customer!!!I won't be going back.Oh yeah and price of the stale bread...5$ +tax!!!

So glad I discovered this place via Too good to go. Mabel's Bakery & Specialty Foods gave a generous bag well worth the money and my family enjoyed everything. My favourite was the almond croissant

Went there one afternoon and the staff seemed short and gave us a weird look while we’re looking around. I’m not sure if they’re tired and aloof but they didn’t say hello nor acknowledged us making the experience a bit awkward. I did get the baby cheesecake and it’s good, I just wished that the staff will also make guests feel that we wanted to go back and enjoy but again, I wasn’t the experience we had.

Treats their staff horribly, I don’t recommend going here for atmosphere. Food is ok, but incredibly overpriced.

Stopped on a Friday morning as I wanted to treat myself to a scone. It was before 8 am so the place I was headed to wasn't open yet. I decided to stop at Mabel's as they are a bakery after all. I asked for a cranberry lemon scone without looking at the sign with the price. It wasn't a big scone. Not at all. Which was fine for me. However, when the cashier rang it in, it was $5.07 with tax. More than $5 for 1 moderately sized scone. And I was prompted for a tip. I understand the pandemic and inflation is hitting small businesses and I sympathize, however, paying more than $5 for one not large scone which only average tasting seemed like a lot. In the future will wait until 8 am and stop at my usual spot.

I got a toffee tart. Much like a butter tart. But I want taste lard in the pastry and some butter in the filling. Didn’t get any of that. Must be made with vegetable shortening ?I would pay more for better ingredients.

One of the best mochas I've had. Not too sweet and fluffy and thick at the same time! And their almond croissant was just fantastic!

I was in the area and wanted to check this place out. But I have to talk about Audrey, the worker that served us. She truly heightened the experience. She provided a friendly atmosphere and was just great to talk too!! We got an almond croissant and it was delicious!! I highly recommend this location and thank you again Audrey for just being a lovely person.
