Was in Waterloo earlier today and stopped by this place to get some food (takeout). The sweet and sour spare ribs are not ribs but little pieces of breaded stuff (I don't even know what's inside) in the red sweet and sour sauce. Just too unappetizing and fattening. The BBQ Pork ribs are way too salty. The flat rice noodles are too greasy. I spent $90 in total on everything and everything was a waste of money. I bought food here a few times when I was at school in Waterloo 6-years ago but the food is not the same. Super disappointing. I would give 0 star if I could. I ended up dumping most of them out. The food here is unecessarily overpriced and not worth it. You're better off going to a nice mandarin and spending your money there than on the yucky food here.

I ordered the dinner for two and was underwhelmed by the quality, despite many reviews to the contrary; I was looking forward to a delicious Cantonese-Canadian meal but was met with something that wouldn't hold up in a competitive urban market.Quick breakdown: friendly and helpful service + large portions at reasonable cost, but poor taste based on my experience with similar food.I ordered the Beef in Black Bean Sauce and General Tso's Chicken, as well as Hot and Sour Soup and Seafood with Tofu soup as additional sides.A few observations:The General Tso's Chicken was extremely soggy and the meat had a poor intrinsic flavor - eating this straight out of the wok wouldn't have improved the gamey flavor of the chicken. I've cooked chicken thigh extensively and have never encountered such a flavor, so I couldn't really point to what went wrong here. The sauce was oily and sour and lacked any significant sweetness.We enjoyed the Chicken Fried Rice and the Beef in Black Bean Sauce.The Seafood with Tofu soup had no discernible seafood in it besides imitation crab meat.

First time eating here and I have to say it is the best Chinese food in the region. Very fresh tasting unlike most restaurants of the type. The place is kept very clean and our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. Not many tables for dine in but cozy. Noticed a very steady stream of take out orders while there. Again, great food.

Came here on a weekend for lunch. Discovered that lunch specials are only available on weekdays so we ordered a la carte. Had two dishes. Servings were large and the food was tasty. The staff were very pleasant. Lots of parking.My wife was very impressed with the cleanliness of the washroom.

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place since we saw many good reviews online but overall we found it to not be worth the money.The food was hit and miss. The egg rolls and chicken balls were great but the actual main dishes were not good. Unfortunately, the flavor and quality was just not there for us. The chicken dishes were dark meat and very fatty, and the sauces were just....odd, definitely unique.As for the atmosphere, the only negative I personally have with Sandys is the overwhelming use of perfumes/fragrances that were present. My boyfriend was in there for maybe five minutes to pick up our order but when he returned to the car his clothes and our takeout bag just smelled so heavily of the scent in the restaurant, so much so that we couldn't even smell the food on our way home.The staff were very friendly and our order was completed quickly.
The best (americanized) chinese food I have had in Waterloo. I ordered the family of 3 meal with Chicken Balls, General Tso's Chicken and Beef Chopped Suey. It comes with 3 egg rolls, chicken fried rice and fortune cookies. All told it was $50.The thing that immediately stood out was the chicken balls. The chunks of chicken were large and still juicy. The batter was just the right thickness, as opposed to many places where the batter overpowers the chicken. The egg rolls were likewise fried just the right amount and full of veggies cooked just the right amount.In every dish I noticed how fresh the veggies tasted and that they hadn't been cooked into limp flavourlessness. The General Tso's chicken was made well and not overly sweet but they do the broccoli version and it wasn't as spicy as the version I prefer. It wasn't the version I prefer but it was a excellent version of what it was. I might not order that dish next time but I am excited to try other things on their menu as everything they made was made with care, the ingredients were quality, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal.
