“Went to Sam’s for the first time today. His Okonomiyaki was amazing! We loved it in Japan when we lived there, and are so happy to find someone here who makes it so well. And we loved talking with Sam, so friendly, genuine, and interesting a person. 100% recommend, it was a truly special experience! ?“

“This place has a cool atmosphere and good vibes. The food is great and there’s many choices to pick from. I really enjoy the unique Thai Classics at Bangkok 96 and the fresh made ice cream that they have. Staff is super awesome and very friendly. this place will be the spot to be at in the summertime months, enjoying both the inside and outside atmosphere“

Motorburger Detroit Hamburger • $$
474 Peterboro St Suite 201, Detroit - 3.33 miles

“Located one block away from the rear of the Masonic complex. Limited street parking, nearby pay lots, one free lot that is hard to find. This portion of strip is not revitalized yet and looks pretty rough. This is a complex of stacked up shipping containers. They are arranged in two courts areas, one roofed, the other open to the sky, with two floors, one being a balcony type arrangement. This is bar and food court operation, ordering at each station. Great. Lots of choices, nice employees, clean, bright, well maintained. Food was good. Sole issue is that the open courtyard had a huge tent in it for drinking and listening to music, and it smelled badly of rot inside.“

“This is a very neat concept and I'm happy to see and support black businesses in black neighborhoods in Detroit. You can dine in or get your order to go like most people. Customer service was great at the two establishment I dined at. I ordered a chicken and waffles dinner from A Taste of Heaven. I don't fried food at home so going out and having some really good fried chicken is a treat. I enjoyed my meal from here. The only downside was my potatoes were overly salted and had too much butter in them. They had good flavor but I couldn't finish them. I like how they be vented my carry out order by poking holes in the top so the food could stay crispy. I got a few desserts from the Life Iz Sweets counter. I really enjoyed the key lime cupcake. It was very tasty but on the small size for a cupcake that was $5. Would I buy it again? Yeah, it was really good! I'd definitely come back here to try other vendors. Hopefully, they will expand to the available space next door. I'd like to see more healthy food options though. A salad bar or vegan/vegetarian restaurant would be great. I can't wait to come back. Parking sucks so beware of that but it's definitely worth a visit or 2 or 3...“

Monroe Market Food Court •
555 E Lafayette St, Detroit

“There is a bakery in the market area. There are a few restaurants besides this bakery. Wowza. If you like pastries this is a dream come true! They have different types of coffee and so many selections of pastries. My favorite was the almond croissant. I bought 6 just to take home. They have a good selection of cookies too. This Bakery is in the Greektown Casino. As you leave the hotel and on your way (through the walkway) There is Monroe Market. That is where you will find this amazing bakery. We also ate at the pizza place in the Market. My husband said the pizza was delicious. It was also huge. I had a turkey sandwich and if you see my picture you will see I'm holding only half of it. It was delish.“

Gyroland Greek •

“Had the Greek Omelette this morning- it was delicious! Had to wait a while to get my meal because there were a lot of orders ahead of me, but there was only one cook and he was banging out the orders as fast as he could- so much better than McDonald’s and Burger King, which are right next door! Highly recommend for breakfast- as long as you are a patient person.“

American Burger Bar Hamburger • $
555 E Lafayette St, Detroit

“Probably the best burger I've ever had, no joke. Well my girlfriend's was, but mine was great too. Demmmm bunnnsssss! Chili Cheese fries are also way better than the flagship- National Coney Island. Was ready in the time it takes to walk into casino to grab a free pop on the far wall, and back again. Didn't even look at price because I used comps. I'm guessing it was like $30 for the above mentioned items. Worth it, even if paying cash.“

Breeze Fine Dining • $
1777 3rd Avenue, Detroit

“I really like this new eatery area. There are lots of choices and different types of cuisines to choose from. I do not like the long line and how they changed the checkout system. You used to be able to go up and do it yourself on several kiosks or with someone assisting you. Now you have to wait in line for a single cashier which seems to take forever..“
