The food and cocktails were delicious! We tried the shitake mushrooms (not to be missed!), buttermilk chicken sandwich (generous chicken, a little heat), the bahn mi (delicious bread and pickled veggies), and skewers (loved the lime and creamy sauce). Of course, sad that Meiji is gone but Eugene is lucky they didn't just close shop altogether!

Sadden to know our one of our favorite restaurants closed down - Izakaya. We decided to try Jungle Fowl the other night for dinner and was impressed with their food as the chef and everything else besides the menu offering stayed the same! They know how to do chicken. The Peruvian chicken dish was delicious! Loved the sauces and pickled appetizers.

Met my kids here for lunch today! The service was good! The food was alright. I had the jungle fowl burger. It tasted good, i requested it cooked medium and it was medium, the fries were good. I wasn't impressed with the Junglefowl sauce. The kids had a chicken sandwich, enoki sandwich, and the burger. I didn't hear any complaint, but I didn't hear any compliments either.

First time visiting since the menu and name change. Sat at the bar on a friday night. Bar Tender was awesome, had great food, coctail, and wine suggestions. Some menu options you will recognize from Meji like the miso egg and the Whikey Ginger. Overall experience was excellent. The Salmon Tartare was the weak spot of our meal, which is disappointing because we love a good tartare. Everything else aboht the experience was great tho. Will happily go back.

I have tried everything to just reserve a table on March 1st and it says there's a 130$ deposit. There is no event that day, based on everything I read. I am confused and frustrated. I'm assuming the website just isn't good or maybe they do demand a 130$ deposit for a regular table on a regular day. That's shocking. I've never heard of a normal restaurant doing that. This is not the French Laundry. UPDATE: THANK YOU FOR THE QUICK REPLY AND HELPING ME RESOLVE THIS. I LOOK FORWARD TO DINNER THERE. THANK YOU.

Junglefowl is now in the spot that a beloved Whit staple once held. The space is absolutely beautiful. Warm, inviting, intriguing--busy yet intimate. The service was excellent--I mean perfection. I didn't catch the name of the person assisting us but everything about them, how they spoke, recommendations etc. was on point. The food is good but I do think the price is a bit much for what you receive. We ordered quite a bit off of the menu but I only caught a few pictures. We ordered the Junglefowl fries, the Koji and Tikka Masala skewer, miso shiitake, chicken salad bites, three miso eggs (yes, they'll sell you the eggs by themselves IYKYK), and the Marionberry bread pudding. The cocktails were AMAZING! I love the Painkiller but their margarita was so good and unique--I've never had a margarita taste like this one but now I wish they all did. I'd 100% come back for drinks and the Junglefowl fries (the shining star of the night as far as food goes).

It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. We LOVED the former incarnation. However, we will not be regulars here. The food was pretty good and probably excellent if you're a chicken lover, but the service.... When dropping $80 for 2 drinks, an app, a salad, an an entree, one does not like to feel like one was held hostage and would have preferred to eat at home. My co-eater asked to try something (note- they apparently charge $2 for a "taste" ? this should be on the menu). And the taste came. But....that was it. Food was served. But No one came to ask if he liked the "taste" (NO), wanted anything else, (YES)??? Our server was absent for the entire time & the restaurant was so quiet there was no one else to ask. He had almost finished his meal before our server appeared, was flagged down and asked for a beer. She bussed 2 tables before she took his order to the bar. (and, no, she did not take any of our empty plates in that action.) We kept almost getting up and going to the bar ourselves for self-serve but this is the thing in restaurants, the expectation is that one stays seated and that one is paying for table service. Or one would not tip. We were upset enough that we only left 15%, a very bad tip from us.

Not sure what all the complaining here is about...We had an amazing experience. Meiji was our favorite restaurant for nearly 10 years, so we had high expectations for this new iteration. The food was just as good, if not slightly more elevated, than Meiji was, and more diverse. The service was excellent, and it appeared they changed very little inside - everything looked about as it had for Meiji. All the dishes we tried were knockouts. They've still got the best french fries in town! And don't miss the scallops.Keep it up! We'll be back.

Great food, small plate portions at entree prices, marginal service. Waiter seemed more interested in working on his comedy routine ala Penn Gillette than in busing our table even after asking if we were finished. Entrees arrived one at a time BEFORE apps and we had to ask for the check which was rather rudely tossed onto the table with no comment. Wait staff then disappeared and I had to get up and go to the bartender to cash out. We loved the food but portions tended to be small and overpriced. The owners did a vastly better job with their prior venture Meiji in the same space; now THAT was a treat. Sigh... that was special.

Most of the food was good- the scallops were incredibly overpriced for way at you get: 3 quarter sized lumps. The small plate makes them appear larger than they are. The bread pudding was completely inedible, charred dry. The service was good but value wasn’t there for me. The curry was sensational but probably too spicy for most people living up here. We spent $160 and left hungry.

Food... Fantastic! Atmosphere... A+. Service... I could only choose 5, but I wanted to choose 8. Probably the best scallops we've ever had. I really loved the the salmon as well. Most places will not serve salmon rare but it is sushi grade. Seair is one of the best bar tenders we've ever encountered. She was more than happy to be creative when asked and give opinions when needed. Highly recommend this place.
