“My friend and I had lunch here on April 4th. The menu has so many interesting dishes it was hard to decided what to order. We had the small plate scallops, a dozen grilled oysters and shared the black cod salad. Everything was fantastic and prepared perfectly. I had their specialty "for a cause" cocktail Guardian Forest; I loved it. My friend had their bloody mary and said it was good. I was not bothered at all by the 20% add for service. The service was great and the food was delicious; so I would have tipped that anyways. I loved that there is fresh fish market and they also sell other products they make there, like the bloody mary mix, salad dressings, tartar sauce, salamon spread, etc. I look forward to returning again.”

“Hey, this Mark. I am a real person and this is an honest review. I first discovered Sharks years ago on a camping trip on the Oregon coast. They were on the waterfront loop in Florence then. I visited every time I was in the area.

One day I went there and they were gone. Heartbreak. I just rediscovered them up the highway in Newport. I made an hour drive to eat there now.

It’s the same owners, same great food, and same friendly service. If you’re ever in the area and love sea food, visit them. You’ll thank me later!

If I were ever on Death Row, I would ask for everything on the menu as my last meal. If you visit, tell them Mark sent you.”

“Don’t let the bar atmosphere fool you — this place can cook. Rolled in late Sunday night, skeptical since it looked more like a drinking spot than a food spot. I was basically the only one ordering food to go, but what I got was genuinely impressive. The Philly steak was flavorful and well made, the cheeseburger was big and packed with a fat juicy patty, and the fries were hot and fresh. Service was friendly despite the late hour. If you’re a traveler and need a solid late-night meal when nothing else is open — this is your spot. Hidden gem.”

“WOW! We drove out of our way to get your famous cinnamon rolls, and they were dry and stale. My wife had never tried one and I kept bragging how good they were. We bought three that day Feb. 28, 2025. Just lost a faithful customer who drives 30 minutes out of our way.”

“Newport on a Tuesday night. We drove to five restaurants before finding Zach’s Bistro. Although He was sold out of almost everything, we were able to get the most amazing dinner ever! Even my five-year-old grandson loved the food. I had the fish cakes, with artichoke and dill. Oh my goodness! It was amazing. My daughter had perfectly cooked salmon dinner. Desert was an awesome chocolate, berry and browned marshmallow. I am so happy we stumbled on this fine dining restaurant on the edge of Nye Beach area in Newport Oregon!”

“The employees were super nice and friendly and when asked questions about the meals they were very specific and polite which we appreciated, the food is amazing, everything was made fresh to order and came very quickly, The burger buns were extremely soft and well toasted, and the burger Was extremely juicy and cooked perfectly and all the vegetables fresh, over all I highly recommend this place”

“I get the mango fruit tea with mango popping boba fairly regularly and it is my favorite drink. I have tried several of the crepes and they are delicious. The staff is always friendly I highly recommend adding Sweet Corner to your plans anytime you are in Newport.”

“Having spent most of my life in India and then a considerable amount of time in California, my constant search for good food here has, overall, been disappointing. There are certainly some good restaurants, but most don’t even meet the baseline.

So, while I was driving through Newport, my expectations were low—but oh boy, this place was a pleasant surprise.

First, the ambiance was amazing and somewhat reminiscent of what restaurants in India actually feel like.

The service was excellent, and both Simer and Sandeep were incredibly friendly and helpful. When we asked Simer what we should try, he suggested the korma.

Now, the korma alone made writing this review worthwhile. One of the reasons I dislike most Indian restaurants here is that they rely on a generic chicken tikka masala-style sauce, which is often too sweet and lacks sophistication. Or they make it “spicy” in terms of heat, not flavor—a thin line, but a very important one.

Long story short, the korma was delicious. So were the paneer kulcha, chili naan, and kachori.

A very unexpected experience right off Highway 101—highly recommended.”

“This place is so cute and FULL of gluten free options! They gave me a white chocolate espresso bean with my delicious coconut caramel latte. I also got the gluten free maple donut and breakfast sandwich, both of which were excellent. My partner got the açaí bowl, which was also very good. I’ll be coming back next time I’m in town!”

“Nothing happens when I click on the photo, it won’t let me load a photo of my black slimy translucent lettuce! The chalet is our go to restaurant for breakfast and lunch however, today I had a salad. It looked great, until I started eating it and got black, slimy, lettuce, and even the iceberg lettuce was mostly soggy. Some of the iceberg lettuce was even translucent, looking as if it had been frozen at one time. I would be humiliated to serve a disgusting salad like this one and not offering to replace the salad or remove the cost from the bill.”

“The crew here is always so friendly, I am greeted as soon as I walk in the door and asked if I am placing am order or picking up and directed to the appropriate location…all while they are assisting the other 4-6 customers in the store. We have always had a great, consistent pizza here and all “special” changes we make are always done right.”

“We stopped by for lunch during our search for the best fish and chips on the Oregon Coast. Started with a small cup of clam chowder that was perfect. Super thick and flavorful, hot, fresh and containing nice chunks of clam. A big Yes to that one. Next we enjoyed the Coconut Prawn appetizer. The menu describes the sauce served with this item as a curry, but we did not get notes of that while enjoying it. Usually restaurants smash the prawns flat which IMHO dries them out during cooking. These were butterflied and allowed to retain natural shape then coated lightly and deep fried. Delish just like that, but NO - they add a bed of cabbage, sprinkle fresh coconut and chopped mango chutney on top! No sauce needed- they were amazing. Hubby doesn't even like coconut and he loved this dish. We could have ended there but then our rock fish and chips arrived. Beautiful medium ( nicely uniform) pieces of fish, lightly battered and cooked to crisp perfection- thoroughly enjoyed every bite of the fish. He really enjoyed the 'chips', I prefer wedge cut or square. The coleslaw was not favored by either of us, I think more traditional ( mayo and vinegar based) goes better with the dish. I would describe it as Asian inspired, but didn't go deep. All in all a strong 4.7 out of 5 and we will return when in Newport.”

“My husband likes dry rub so sometimes there recipes are a little too moist for his liking. I totally disagree. The sauce tasted amazing with the veggies. The tea was ready for me to drink after changing the babies diaper in the bathroom sadly didn't have a changing station. The waitresses said the perfect thing to my baby. Before I was able to over eat this amazing food she was there to help us bag it up. Instead of rushing us out at closing she politely told me I had enough. This was so appreciated. It was a late dinner for us and we were sick. The hot soup and tea was perfect for a winters cold. The foil chicken was very fun to unwrap.”

“My family and I went to the Coast to celebrate me turning 30. Before we left town- we stopped and had sweatshirts made and then went to Sea Lion Dockside bar for coffees and to peek at the Sea Lions. Two hours after leaving- I realized I left my sweatshirt on a table and was immediately upset with myself. I decided to send a message, asking if they could look to see if my sweatshirt was there. They immediately replied with a photo of my sweatshirt still in the bag. I asked if they could send it to me and I would pay for it- I was so grateful when they said yes- but the best part is the offered to cover shipping cost and even sent me some coffee!! These people are so kinda and the coffee is so good! Now I have my sweatshirt and a bag coffee to go with it- all thanks to their kind hearts and generosity ❤️❤️❤️❤️”
