Restaurantji's Philomath guide: Where to find the best Mexican flavors.
“La Rockita has always been consistent. Family owned and operated for years. Every time I'm in town from Charlotte, I make the trip to eat here. The burritos are huge and the tortas are AMAZING!I will definitely come back when I am in town!!!!!!“
“Really good Mexican food, maybe a little expensive. The burrito Ixtapa was really big and full of delicious asada. We also liked the fajitas, and the enchiladas rancheiras. The sopapillas were a hidden gem on the menu deliciously fried crisps with cinnamon, whipped cream and strawberry sauce. So delicious.“
“Miguel's was a fantastic food truck, and now they're a fantastic hole-in-the-wall pick-up spot. It's not the easiest to find, but it was well-worth weaving through the hall to find them waiting with our food and a smile. The enchiladas are solid, the mole is solid, the prices are solid, and the portions are solid.“
“I’ve been a happy customer for the last 10 years now! I never had a bad order once & the food always came out 100% perfect-All the staff members are very kind! I just wish there was more room in the Restaurant for Birthdays or big family gatherings!“
“There should be an exclamation mark after the Yes in answer to the question of whether I recommend this taco trailer! Best al pastor taco in town and their rice and beans are just plain and unadorned great - especially with their pico de gallo and your choice of one of their 7 salsas!“
“Food is good, service was good. They are very kind to us. I would recommend.Vegetarian options: I didn't order anything vegetarian, but the people that did were satisfied.Kid-friendliness: They were very kind to the kids and talked and interacted with them.“
“Best Mexican food in town. Their homemade corn tortillas are the best I've ever eaten. I've recently been experimenting with the chorizo which is absolutely delicious. They are the most underrated of all the Mexican places. They are some wonderful people and I love eating here. Definitely recommend you give it a try. 10/10.Dietary restrictions: I am gluten free and they are really accommodating and I've never had an issue with eating gluten free here.Parking: Lots of parking space with handicap spots as well.Wheelchair accessibility: Handicap parking spaces are available next to the door, with wide doors that can easily accommodate a wheel chair.“
“There were a group of about 20 of us. Our server and busman were fabulous and took such wonderful care of all of us. Everyone seemed pleased with their food. Best of all, it was wonderful to celebrate my dear cousin on her 91st birthday. ?Thank you for a lovely evening.“
“I have passed by El Palenque hundreds of times but finally decided to stop in yesterday for lunch. They have delicious food and even better drinks! The Mango Tajin margarita was amazing. I highly recommend checking it out. We will definitely be back again soon!“
“Loved the torta! Its pretty good sized and the meat was flavorful. I can't say the same for their pork tamale I ordered on the side. They serve it wet in some kinda sauce but you can tell they hurried the cooking process up because the tamale is dry and its meat is practically flavorless. I recommend you visit and try yourselves, just remember you have been warned about the pork tamale.“
“This place has the vibe I need - chill and happy. Got the Carne Asada burrito and the steak was deliciousssss!! Their red sauce was also very yummy. The server was friendly and was there when needed. Honestly had a great time sitting back, eating and existing there.“
“I had the Chicken Taco Salad at La Rockita Downtown and it was perfect. The Chicken was juicy and full of flavor and it was a very generous portion. Fresh Lettuce, Creamy Refried Beans, Sour Cream, Guacamole, Tomatoes, and Cheddar Cheese in a Crispy Tortilla Shell makes for a yummy lunch. The Red and Green Hot Sauces were excellent. The service was very quick and the staff are welcoming.“
“I had a college womens basketball team to feed (30+ people) and it was in the middle of a snow/ice storm and they stayed open to help our team out. Every other place in the city was closed or could not do our order. The food arrived on time and was delicious! I will be ordered from here when we return! Thank you again! (The carne asada plate add shrimp was my favorite with the refried beans, rice, and tortillas)“
“They have become my go-to local Mexican restaurant. Great food, good portions, reasonable prices. They are super friendly and the place is very clean and orderly. Not sure why they're not packed 24/7. Highly recommend the shredded beef Flautas.“
“Rivas, La Conga, whatever you call it. The food is nothing special, yet it's very easy to eat. Nostalgia from going here in college probably drives the 5 stars, but on a recent visit enjoyed being in the atmosphere of annoyingly intoxicated people.“
“I'm sure too many people drive past this unassuming restaurant in a gas station, and it's their loss. The food is always delicious. I highly recommend having a panucho! I had the chirmole turkey panucho and will have many more. These crispy corn 'tortillas' are stuffed with beans and topped with the most deliciously spiced moist turkey.“
