We've been really disappointed lately with the Mexican food options in Portland, and La Cocina just made up for all those bad experiences. Really great staff, and tasty food. The Tamarind agua fresca was light, tasty and not overly sweet. The guac was fresh, simple, and very flavorful (without having a bunch of extra spices, which I hate). The mole and guacamole were excellent. However, they wouldn't split our check, which was fairly frustrating. Also, they asked if we wanted chips, salsa, and guacamole which we agreed to, not aware that we would be charged for those things.
